The return flight from the Maldives was far more peaceful than the excitement-filled journey that had taken the Konidela family there.

The luxurious vacation had finally come to an end, leaving behind countless unforgettable memories that would remain with each family member for years to come.

Although Ram felt a little reluctant to leave the beautiful islands behind, he also looked forward to returning home and meeting all of his friends after such a long absence.Full novel: Starting as Chiranjeevi’s Son, I Became a Global Superstar — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Before leaving the resort that morning, however, Ram had insisted on making one last stop at the shopping district near the hotel.

Unlike most six-year-old children, his first thought was not about buying toys for himself but about bringing souvenirs back for the people waiting for him in India.

His previous life’s memories had taught him that small gifts often carried much greater emotional value than expensive presents.

The bustling souvenir market was filled with handcrafted items unique to the Maldives.

Brightly painted wooden boats decorated the shelves while colorful handcrafted ornaments reflected the island nation’s rich artistic culture.

Local craftsmen patiently demonstrated their work to curious tourists, making the entire market feel lively and welcoming.

Ram carefully observed every stall before finally stopping in front of a shop displaying beautifully polished Maldivian lacquerware.

The smooth wooden containers were decorated with elegant floral patterns painted in vibrant shades of red, black, and yellow.

The craftsmanship immediately caught his attention.

“Appa,” Ram said while pointing toward the display, “can I buy these?”

His father smiled gently before kneeling beside him.

“For yourself?”

Ram shook his head.

“They’re gifts.”

That single answer made Chiranjeevi glance at his son with quiet admiration.

Even at such a young age, Ram naturally thought about others before himself.

Surekha also smiled warmly as she watched her son carefully examine each handcrafted piece.

After spending several minutes comparing different designs, Ram finally selected two matching lacquerware gift sets.

“One is for Shruthi.”

He paused before picking up the second set.

“And this one is for Samantha.”

The shopkeeper carefully wrapped both gifts using decorative island-themed paper before handing them over.

Satisfied, Ram continued exploring the nearby stores.

This time he noticed miniature handcrafted Dhoni boats, traditional fishing boats that had served Maldivian fishermen for centuries.

Each tiny model was carved from wood with remarkable attention to detail.

Ram immediately liked them.

“They’ll make nice gifts for the elders.”

His father nodded approvingly.

“That’s a thoughtful choice.”

Soon several miniature Dhoni boats were neatly packed alongside the lacquerware gifts.

Although the shopping bags were small, they carried countless good wishes that Ram hoped to share with everyone once he returned home.

By the time they finished shopping, it was already close to noon.

The family returned to the resort one final time, completed the checkout formalities, thanked the hotel staff for their excellent hospitality, and headed toward Velana International Airport.

The airport bustled with travelers from every corner of the world.

Different languages echoed through the departure hall while tourists carried colorful beach bags and suitcases filled with vacation memories.

After completing immigration and security checks, the Konidela family finally boarded their business-class flight back to India.

As soon as the aircraft reached cruising altitude, silence gradually settled throughout the cabin.

Ram looked toward the seat beside him.

His elder sister, Sushmita, had already curled up comfortably beneath her blanket, fast asleep.

One of her hands still loosely held the small stuffed dolphin she had purchased during their vacation.

Ram couldn’t help smiling.

“She really got tired…”

Outside the window, endless white clouds stretched across the horizon like floating cotton fields.

The peaceful atmosphere gradually made his own eyelids heavier.

Within minutes…

He, too, drifted into a comfortable sleep.

…

Several hours later…

A gentle tapping sensation against his arm slowly pulled him out of his dreams.

Ram blinked lazily before opening his eyes.

Standing beside his seat was a tiny familiar figure wearing a cheerful smile.

It was none other than little Sreeja.

Having escaped from Surekha’s lap for a brief moment, the toddler had waddled toward her elder brother with determined little steps before reaching out with both tiny hands.

“Anna…”

Although the pronunciation remained slightly unclear, Ram understood perfectly.

His heart immediately softened.

“Hey, little princess.”

He gently lifted Sreeja onto his lap while she giggled happily and played with the buttons on his shirt.

Watching the adorable siblings together, Surekha couldn’t help smiling affectionately.

“Looks like someone missed her elder brother.”

Sreeja immediately nodded as though she understood every word.

Ram chuckled before lightly patting her tiny head.

The remainder of the flight passed peacefully as the siblings quietly watched the clouds outside together.

Several hours later…

The aircraft finally landed safely in Chennai.

Warm Indian air greeted them the moment they stepped out of the airport terminal.

Although Maldives had been breathtakingly beautiful, returning home somehow brought a different kind of comfort.

Their driver was already waiting outside.

After loading their luggage into the family vehicle, everyone climbed inside before beginning the familiar journey back toward their villa.

The city roads looked just as lively as ever.

Street vendors lined the sidewalks.

Children played cricket in empty lots.

Tea stalls overflowed with customers discussing the latest cinema news.

Ram quietly watched everything through the window.

“…Home.”

By evening, the family had finally unpacked their luggage and settled back into their normal routine.

That night, Ram carefully placed the wrapped souvenirs on his study table.

One package carried Shruthi’s name.

Another belonged to Samantha.

The miniature Dhoni boats would be given to family friends and elders over the coming days.

Only after making sure everything was neatly arranged did Ram climb into bed.

His first day back at school awaited him tomorrow.

The following morning arrived much sooner than expected.

The familiar sounds of birds chirping outside mixed with Surekha’s gentle voice calling her children downstairs for breakfast.

Ram slowly stretched before changing into his neatly ironed school uniform.

Looking into the mirror felt strangely nostalgic.

It had been nearly two months since he had last worn it.

Most of that time had been spent filming Tejaa, practicing dialogues, rehearsing emotional scenes, and learning the discipline of professional filmmaking.

Returning to ordinary school life now felt surprisingly unfamiliar.

Downstairs, Sushmita was already waiting impatiently while finishing the last bite of her breakfast.

“There you are!”

She grabbed his hand.

“Hurry! New chapters come out on g.com first.

We’ll miss the school bus!”

Ram laughed helplessly.

“Akka, we’re not even late.”

“We will be if you keep talking.”

Surekha smiled while handing both children their school bags.

“Have a wonderful day.”

Outside, the familiar yellow school bus soon arrived with its usual loud horn.

After waving goodbye to their mother and little sister, the siblings climbed aboard.

The moment Ram stepped inside…

Several students immediately recognized him.

“Ram’s back!”

“He finally returned!”

“There he is!”

Before Ram could even reach his usual seat…

A small figure suddenly rushed toward him at full speed.

“Raaammmm!”

Without slowing down in the slightest…

She threw herself directly at him.

“Oof!”

Ram completely lost his balance as Shruthi wrapped both arms around him in an incredibly tight hug.

The unexpected impact nearly knocked the air out of his lungs.

He tried speaking.

“S…

Shruthi…”

Instead…

Only weak wheezing escaped.

His face gradually turned red.

“I…

can’t…

breathe…”

Before Ram could even react, Shruthi had already wrapped both her tiny arms around him with surprising strength.

The force of her sudden tackle made him stumble backward onto the bus seat while she happily buried her face against his shoulder.

Ram desperately tried to free one arm, but the determined little girl only tightened her embrace further, making the poor boy struggle for every breath.

“Sh…

Shruthi…”

“I missed you so much!”

“I…

can’t…

breathe…”

His tiny voice came out in broken gasps, causing several students nearby to burst into laughter.

Some boys looked at Ram with obvious envy while a few girls giggled at Shruthi’s completely fearless behavior.

To them, it looked less like a reunion between classmates and more like a dramatic movie scene.

Fortunately, before the situation became any worse, another familiar figure quickly walked over.

Sushmita immediately recognized the look of helplessness on her younger brother’s face and gently—but firmly—pulled Shruthi backward by her shoulders.

“Enough, Shruthi!” Sushmita said with an annoyed expression.

“You almost suffocated my brother.”

Shruthi puffed out her cheeks in protest.

“But I really missed Ram!”

“You can miss him without crushing him.”

“I wasn’t crushing him.”

“You definitely were.”

The two girls immediately began arguing in the middle of the bus while Ram leaned back against his seat, taking several deep breaths as though he had narrowly survived a dangerous battle.

“…I almost saw my previous life again…”

Hearing his dramatic muttering, even the older students couldn’t help laughing.

Shruthi crossed her arms stubbornly before sitting beside Ram.

“Hmph.

Next time I’ll hug him more gently.”

Sushmita narrowed her eyes.

“There won’t be a next time if you do that again.”

Ram wisely chose to remain silent.

Whenever those two started arguing, the safest decision was always to stay out of it.

The school bus gradually entered the familiar campus, and dozens of children hurried toward their classrooms after the morning bell rang.

Since Ram had been away for almost two months because of the film shoot, many students were eager to see him again.

The moment he stepped inside his classroom, cheerful voices immediately greeted him from every direction.

“Ram!”

“You’re finally back!”

“Where did you go?”

“We missed you!”

Several classmates surrounded his desk before he even had the chance to place his school bag down.

Questions poured in one after another, making him smile helplessly as he answered them one by one.

“I was traveling with my family.”

“Yes, it was fun.”

“No, I didn’t forget anyone.”

“I brought something back.”

The last sentence immediately caught everyone’s attention.

“You brought gifts?”

Ram laughed.

“Only for a few friends.”

At that exact moment, another familiar figure gently pushed through the small crowd.

Samantha.

Unlike the others, she didn’t ask dozens of questions.

Instead, she simply smiled warmly.

“Welcome back, Ram.”

“It’s good to be back.”

Before anyone else could continue talking, Samantha lightly held Ram’s wrist and guided him toward their usual bench.

“He hasn’t even sat down yet,” she said politely.

“Let him breathe first.”

The surrounding children laughed before returning to their own seats.

Ram had barely settled into his chair when another familiar shadow appeared.

Shruthi.

Without saying a single word, she calmly placed her school bag on the opposite side of Ram and sat down.

Samantha blinked.

“I usually sit here.”

Shruthi folded her arms.

“No, you haven’t.”

“I have today.”

The two girls exchanged determined looks.

Ram looked from one side to the other before quietly sighing.

“…Here we go again.”

Fortunately, before their silent competition could escalate any further, Ram reached inside his school bag.

“I actually brought something.”

Both girls immediately forgot their rivalry.

“For us?”

Ram nodded.

“I bought these in the Maldives.”

He carefully placed two beautifully wrapped gift boxes onto the desk.

One was handed to Shruthi.

The other to Samantha.

Both girls excitedly removed the wrapping paper before opening the small boxes.

Inside rested beautifully handcrafted Maldivian lacquerware decorated with colorful traditional floral patterns.

The polished wooden craftsmanship reflected the morning sunlight beautifully.

“So pretty…”

Shruthi’s eyes sparkled.

Samantha carefully traced the painted patterns with her fingers.

“I’ve never seen anything like this.”

“They’re handmade,” Ram explained.

“I thought both of you would like them.”

The two girls smiled brightly.

“Thank you, Ram.”

Shruthi happily hugged the gift box instead of Ram this time.

Sushmita, who had been watching from the doorway of the senior classroom across the corridor, nodded in satisfaction.

“Much better.”

For the next several minutes, Shruthi and Samantha completely forgot about competing with each other.

Instead, they enthusiastically compared every little detail of their matching souvenirs while discussing where they would keep them at home.

Seeing them getting along made Ram smile.

“At least gifts are stronger than arguments.”

Just then…

A loud sound echoed across the classroom.

Bang!

A small hand landed firmly on Ram’s desk.

The entire classroom immediately fell silent.

Ram slowly looked upward.

Standing before him was a boy from the neighboring row.

He stood confidently with both hands on his hips while trying his best to appear impressive.

Several classmates curiously turned toward the unexpected scene.

Even Shruthi and Samantha stopped examining their gifts.

The boy secretly glanced toward both girls before quickly straightening his posture.

Inside his heart, determination burned brightly.

“This is my chance.”

“If I defeat Ram…”

“Both Shruthi and Samantha will definitely think I’m amazing!”

Ram looked at the boy’s unusually serious expression before quietly thinking to himself.

“…I already know what you’re planning.”

The boy clenched one fist dramatically.

“Ram!”

“Yes?”

“I challenge you!”

The entire classroom became even quieter.

“To what?”

The boy proudly raised a small wooden chessboard he had been carrying.

“A game of chess!”

Several boys gasped.

“Chess?”

“He brought his own board?”

“I heard he’s really good.”

The challenger smiled confidently.

“If I win…”

He paused for dramatic effect before briefly glancing toward Shruthi and Samantha.

“…then you’ll admit that I’m the smartest boy in this class.”

Ram immediately understood everything.

“So that’s the real reason.”

“He’s trying to impress them…”

Ram looked toward the two girls.

Neither of them seemed remotely interested.

Shruthi was still carefully polishing her souvenir box.

Samantha was admiring the colorful artwork.

Neither had even noticed the boy’s dramatic declaration.

Ram almost felt sorry for him.

Almost.

The challenger confidently pushed the chessboard onto the desk.

“So…”

He pointed toward the black pieces.

“Do you accept my challenge?”

The entire classroom waited silently.

Ram looked at the chessboard…

Then at the determined boy…

A small smile slowly appeared on his face.

“I accept.”

The moment those two words left his mouth, excitement spread throughout the classroom.

Several students immediately began moving their desks aside to make room.

Even children from neighboring classrooms curiously peeked through the windows after hearing that a chess match was about to begin.

Unknowingly…

The first great rivalry of Ram’s school life…

Was about to begin.

To be continued….
