Mountainous Region
BOOM!
In the middle of the forest, a deafening explosion erupted, shattering the silence and sending various monsters fleeing for their lives.
A moment later, a massive dark purple tornado rose from the ground, its swirling winds reaching high into the sky. The trees bent and branches snapped under the tremendous force as the entire forest was thrown into chaos. Even some weaker monsters were sucked in the tornado.
Just after that, towering pillars of ice suddenly erupted from the ground, sending the fleeing monsters into an even greater panic. They didn't even dare look back as they desperately ran for their lives.
From time to time, a purple beam would shoot through the forest, followed by the terrifying roar of fierce monsters.
The entire scene looked like a natural disaster unfolding before their eyes. Anyone witnessing the catastrophe from a distance would likely feel their knees trembling in fear, wondering what kind of monster could possibly be causing such destruction.
Yet, the violent tremor lasted only for a short while before the forest finally returned to its previous state.
The once lively forest had now become eerily quiet. Not a single creature could be seen anywhere, since all the monsters had already fled far away.
In the middle of the forest where the catastrophe had taken place, a figure wearing a formal combat outfit of black, white, and various shades of purple emerged from the thick smoke.
He brushed the dust from his shoulders, clearing away the debris created by the intense attacks he had unleashed moments ago.
"Those monster's power were quite decent. At the very least, they were more enjoyable to fight than those weak wyverns."
The figure spoke with a nod, though he still didn't seem entirely satisfied with the battle. His gaze shifted toward the corpses of several giant beasts lying amid the devastated forest. Because of his powerful attacks, a three kilometer radius of the once-lush green forest had been reduced to a barren wasteland. Yet, the person in question seems not content yet.
Of course, the person in question was none other than Tenma Yuuki.
It had been seven days since his arrival in this world. Aside from practicing his ability, Yuuki had also been wandering in random directions, hoping to find a city or encounter someone who could guide him out of the forest.
However, throughout the past week, many magical creatures had mistaken Yuuki for an easy target and attacked him. Unfortunately for them, the outcome was always the same.
Total Annihilation.
Just like the enormous beasts from earlier, they didn't even last a minute before being obliterated. However, such an outcome was hardly surprising, considering Yuuki had been using powerful spells against those pitiful monsters
"Still, I've been running around for seven days, yet I haven't seen a the edge of this forest or even encountered another human being. Just how big is this forest, really?" Yuuki let out a sigh as he lazily sat on the leg of one of the dead giant beast.
"Say, Thana-chan, did you purposely make me get lost in this forest just to bully me?" Yuuki put on a teary, pitiful expression as though he had been wronged, causing Thana-chan or rather, his system to fall silent for a moment.
[...The location of your descent is completely random. Please don't wrongly accuse me, Host. And also, for the last time... Please... Please don't call me Thana-chan, okay?]
Hearing her desperate plea, Yuuki simply shrugged and laughed. "Got it, Thana-chan!"
Since Yuuki clearly had no intention of stopping his habit of calling her that name, she could only let out a deep sigh and give up.
[Whatever. I don't care anymore... I give up.]
Her exhausted tone almost made Yuuki snicker. Thankfully, his control over his expression was excellent, allowing him to maintain a neutral face. He was afraid that if he laughed, she might ignore him again for a few days like she had before.
Even so, Yuuki could already imagine his system's lips twitching in annoyance, despite not being able to see her face.
'Wait, does she even have an appearance?' Those thoughts crossed through his mind but didn't dwell too much on it, but from her voice, Yuuki could imagine if she was a person, his system would definitely be an absolute beauty.
Yuuki was resting on the razed forest when he suddenly remembered something causing him to stand up "Oh right, I still haven't claimed todays check in reward."
As he said that, Yuuki hastely activated the system interface and directly gone to the Check In Feature and pressed claim button.
As he did so, Yuuki clasped his hands together and desperately prayed, putting all his faith in his luck. After all, as his system had explained, the rewards after the first day would depend entirely on his luck. He could either obtain a powerful ability or legendary weapon or end up with something completely random and useless.
'Please, let me get something good this time!'
Over the past few days, Yuuki had only managed to obtain a bunch of system points that could be used in the system shop, along with a hundred chicken bucket that he had received just yesterday.
While the chicken bucket was completely useless in combat, Yuuki had to admit that it tasted far better than the ones he used to eat back in Japan. The meat was tender and juicy, almost melting on his mouth, and the flavor...
It was heavenly!
Yuuki felt that if he had a God Tongue and were a member of the Nakiri family, his clothes might have practically burst open from the heavenly taste of the chicken, and he would have given it a solid 9.8 points.
All in all, the rewards hadn't been half bad at all.
In addition, he had accumulated a total of 19,800 points from the previous days, which he could use to purchase abilities, equipment, weapons, or various other items from the system shop.
Unfortunately, there wasn't much that caught his interest at the moment, mainly because his current amount of points wasn't enough to afford the more powerful items.
Other than the outfit he had purchased from the shop, the same outfit worn by Kayron in CZN, Yuuki didn't plan on buying anything else for the time being.
Instead, he decided to save his points. He already had a few items and skills in mind that he wanted to purchase once he had accumulated enough points.
As Yuuki was lost in his thoughts, a system notification suddenly snapped him back to reality. He quickly turned his attention to the reward he had just obtained.
[Ding! Congratulations Host, you've obtained "Eternal Arms Mastery".]
"Hell, yeah!" Yuuki excitedly punched the air upon seeing the reward he had got.
"I got it. I actually got it!"
He spread his arms wide as if basking in the cheers of a cheering crowd. Unfortunately, Yuuki had completely forgotten that he was standing alone in the middle of a forest. There wasn't a single person or even a magical creature around to witness his glory.
[Heh.]
"Did you say something, Thana-chan?" Hearing his beautiful system let out a small snort, Yuuki couldn't help but tease her.
[Nothing. I just coughed.]
Raising an eyebrow, Yuuki mischievously teased her. "Oh, so the system can cough too, huh? I just discovered your behavior seems to be more and more human to me."
[.....]
Seeing his system fell silent Yuuki simply smiled, though, in his heart he was still excited. It wasn't just because of the reward he had received, but also because his hunch about his system might actually be correct.
However, he didn't need to rush it for now since it will not do more good to him if he pressed her in the corner. For now, Yuuki decided to let things flow naturally.
Setting those thoughts aside, Yuuki shifted his attention to his newly acquired ability, Eternal Arms Mastery.
If anyone familiar with the Fate series saw this reward, they would probably have the same reaction as Yuuki.
Why?
The reason was simple, this ability could allow its user to master virtually any form of combat to the point of becoming unrivaled in their era. Whether it was hand-to-hand combat, swordsmanship, spear fighting, archery, or any other martial art, the user could achieve an extraordinary level of mastery.
Even more impressive, Eternal Arms Mastery prevented the user's combat skills from deteriorating even when they were weakened or suffering from some kind of poison or debuff. Their body might become weaker, but their accumulated fighting experience and technique would remain intact.
Imagine picking up a sword for the very first time, only for your swordsmanship to instantly surpass most of the legendary heroes from previous eras.
That was just how absurdly overpowered Eternal Arms Mastery was.
"It's a pity there aren't any monsters around for me to practice with."
Yuuki examined his surroundings and let out a disappointed sigh. He couldn't detect a single living creature within a large radius. Even when he activated a spell called Location, extending his detection range to an area roughly the size of a city, he still couldn't find anything.
Since he couldn't get a sparring partner, Yuuki decided to postpone his desire for battle and instead focus on finding a way out of this damnable forest.
