The noises outside grew closer and closer. Wen Yu had just finished her tasks and glanced outside.

The sight made her roll her eyes skyward.

Of course—the screams she had recognized just now were from Lin Yitang.Full novel: Starting with a Billion Supplies, the Villainous Female Supporting Character Wins the Apocalypse Easily — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

At this moment, Lin Yitang was dashing ahead with her muscular entourage, followed by a long line of zombies.

Though the zombies’ faces varied, they all wore the same uniform, with batons at their waists—likely security guards from the mall before the apocalypse.

Wen Yu couldn’t help but shake her head in disbelief.

How did Lin Yitang always manage to attract such trouble? And as a reborn female lead, didn’t she realize zombies were sensitive to sound as well?

Shouting all the way here not only exhausted them but also risked attracting zombies.

Just as she was thinking this, Lin Yitang pushed through the door, rushing up to Pei Ye with tears in her eyes: “Brother Pei Ye, did you come to save me?”

Pei Ye was already annoyed at the trouble Lin Yitang had drawn. Hearing her words, his normally indifferent face showed a trace of disbelief.

Wen Yu was even more incredulous, letting out an “ah” in surprise.

“Miss Lin, your habit of napping anywhere isn’t good, you know.”

Lin Yitang, caught off guard, instinctively defended herself: “I wasn’t sleeping!”

“Not sleeping? Then why dream so big?”

At that moment, Lin Yitang’s muscular teammates entered as well. The café had been designed for aesthetics, with large floor-to-ceiling windows, making it difficult to block off zombies outside.

They immediately began discussing moving to another location.

Acheng glared at Lin Yitang.

If not for this troublesome woman slowing them down, they could have run ten laps back and forth across the suburbs in these past two days!

Instead, they had encountered at least ten waves of zombies.

He began to suspect Lin Yitang had some kind of monster-attracting ability.

But now wasn’t the time to argue; danger was ahead and behind. They needed to move first.

Acheng scanned the area and said quickly: “I’ll check for a back door or window.”

Han Chuan nodded: “Ajin, go with Acheng. If there are zombies, alert the others.”

Ajin, having been called, went with Acheng toward the back of the café.

Lin Yitang, scolded for daydreaming and now glared at by her teammates, felt her anger rise.

She was a reborn daughter of privilege; teaming up with them was already a favor. How dare they treat her like this? Soon enough, they’d be begging her for mercy.

But she couldn’t vent her anger now, so she shyly looked at Pei Ye, hoping he would say something.

Pei Ye avoided her gaze.

He was sharp-eyed and could see that Wen Yu and Lin Yitang didn’t get along.

In such situations, elbows fly. Wen Yu could scratch him to death if she wanted—better to keep his distance.

He turned away, ignoring Lin Yitang, and asked Wen Yu if she was ready.

Wen Yu nodded.

“Then let’s go.”

The café was on the first floor of the mall. For customer convenience, a small connecting door led directly to the mall.

Through that door, they could leave—and even collect supplies from the mall’s supermarket.

As they walked deeper, they soon found the door.

Lin Yitang followed, realizing their plan and anxiously warned:

“Brother Pei Ye, don’t go into the mall! There’s a high-level zombie inside—it’s very dangerous!”

Pei Ye had to stop. “You escaped from the mall?”

Lin Yitang’s eyes flickered nervously, but she still warned: “Yes. That zombie has abilities—it’s hard to deal with. We couldn’t defeat it and had to escape.”

Pei Ye studied Lin Yitang from head to toe.

She was still wearing the floral dress from their first encounter. Though disheveled, she had no bloodstains and didn’t look like she had fought zombies.

But a high-level zombie—could one escape it without fighting?

Thinking of the friend who had last sent him a location, a twinge of unease crept into Pei Ye’s mind.

He looked sharply at Lin Yitang, his voice lowering: “Someone blocked the high-level zombie for you. Instead of helping, you ran.”

Plain words, but chilling.

Lin Yitang was speechless, frozen in place.

Wen Yu snorted coldly, doubting the original novel’s plot once again—this heroine must have stepped into a pirated version.

Pei Ye furrowed his brows, grabbed Wen Yu’s wrist, and charged into the mall.

He couldn’t risk leaving his friend behind; he had to check on them.

At the same time, he couldn’t leave Wen Yu alone, so he brought her along, ready to evacuate her if things went wrong.

Power in the city had already gone out. They climbed an escalator.

At the top, they encountered a small group of zombies—only three.

They wore cute Lolita outfits, probably young women out shopping, now fully turned into zombies.

Pei Ye showed no mercy, beheading them one by one. By the last one, Wen Yu had already finished off her target.

The body split cleanly with one strike.

Seeing her cool expression, Pei Ye didn’t ask further and led the way.

But Wen Yu internally wailed.

She had lowered her guard, seeing the zombies dressed so prettily, only to realize: no matter how beautiful the outfit, they were still zombies.

The blood was deep purple, emitting a foul stench.

She flailed her arms, tiptoeing behind Pei Ye, silently screaming.

So dirty… so disgusting… ahhhhh!!!

On the second floor, around the corner, more zombies appeared. This time, Pei Ye didn’t let Wen Yu act. He attached his lightning ability to his machete.

The air crackled; the zombies’ heads separated from their bodies. The severed wounds were charred black—no blood sprayed out.

Wen Yu’s eyes lit up.

This method was effective—she wished she had abilities too…

Her movements were quick, following Pei Ye closely.

After clearing three small waves of zombies, they finally heard a commotion.

Pei Ye’s expression changed. He swung his machete.

Shing!

The sound of blade cutting flesh. Wen Yu saw a mall manager in a suit lifting a man by the neck.

Pei Ye’s machete was embedded in the manager’s arm.

Wen Yu exhaled.

That was a full-power strike using Pei Ye’s awakened ability, and yet it hadn’t severed the zombie’s arm.

The evolution speed of these zombies was terrifying!

Pei Ye realized it too. His face darkened, but he didn’t hold back. He sent a bolt of lightning straight to the point of contact.

In an instant, the air reeked of scorched flesh.

The manager finally released his grip. The man, whose life had been hanging by a thread, survived. Pei Ye joined the fight.

“Boss!”

“Brother Pei!”

Once recovered, the other two men on the battlefield cheered.

Pei Ye said gravely: “Catch up later—does this zombie have a weakness?”

Song Yu, more impulsive, threw fireballs while shouting: “Boss, this zombie has no weaknesses! But it has many strengths. Its skin is extremely tough—normal attacks can’t cut it. It’s fast, like an eel, impossible to catch.”

Pei Ye shot him a glare.

Nearly everyone was wiped out, and he was still proud of spotting no weaknesses?

Cen Mo, however, noticed something: “It might have poor eyesight.”
