The Re-Estize Kingdom, the fortress city of E-Rantel.

Serving as an important border against the neighboring Baharuth Empire and the Slane Theocracy, the Kingdom’s primary enemy is the Empire; however, no large-scale conflicts have occurred here for a long time.

It was another very peaceful day.Full novel: Starting with Ainz Ooal Gown: Three Days Before Shutdown — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The weather was clear with a gentle breeze; although it was still summer, it didn’t feel hot due to the rain from the past two days.

Inside the inn.

Ainz Ooal Gown, disguised as the adventurer Momon, and Nabe, a battle maid of the Great Tomb of Nazarick disguised as the ordinary adventurer Narberal, were staying here.

Having just achieved what ordinary people would call a great feat two days ago, although they were still Copper-plate adventurers, they had gained sufficient fame and some information.

At the very least, the two no longer had to stay in the lowest-class rooms as they did at the start.

Sitting opposite each other, after using a magic scroll for information defense, Ainz finally spoke with a mix of excitement and trepidation.

“Recently, a Faith-based magic caster wearing strange equipment has been asking for information about [Ainz Ooal Gown] in Carne Village and E-Rantel.”

“That’s correct, isn’t it, Narberal?”

Narberal’s expression was cold, her brow slightly furrowed, yet a hint of anticipation flickered across her expressionless, delicate face.

The reason Lord Ainz deliberately spread the name of Ainz Ooal Gown was so it would reach the ears of the Supreme Beings who might have also come to this world.

Although her creator, Nishikienrai, had left Nazarick a long time ago, she still looked forward to the return of the Supreme Being who created her.

“Yes, it is said to be a Faith-based magic caster with black hair and black eyes, wearing silver-white armor and wielding a spear.”

“But…”

Narberal couldn’t help but want to say something, but she was interrupted by Ainz.

He was certainly aware that the appearance of this person inquiring about Ainz Ooal Gown did not match any of his companions in his memories, but since they were specifically seeking information, there might be some useful intel.

Even if there was only a sliver of a possibility, Ainz’s heart, which he thought was suppressed by his undead instincts, grew excited, triggering his forced calm twice in a row to suppress his emotions.

Of course, the possibility of it being an enemy trap could not be entirely ruled out.

But compared to news of his companions, a little bit of risk was not even worth considering.

“We will go and meet this person now.”

Ainz slapped the table and made his decision.

Ainz’s movement as he stood up stirred a slight breeze, causing the barrier deployed by the magic scroll in the room to ripple invisibly.

Nabe rose as well, silently following behind him, one hand already resting on the hilt of the short sword at her waist.

The two walked down the inn’s stairs one after the other, the wooden steps creaking slightly.

In the lobby downstairs, guests were scattered across a few tables—mostly passing merchants or local residents enjoying a mug of ale during their afternoon leisure.

The innkeeper behind the counter looked up, saw Ainz, and immediately broke into a wide smile, greeting him warmly.

“Lord Momon, are you heading out today as well?”

Ainz nodded slightly, his deep and resonant voice coming from beneath his full-face helmet: “Yes, I have some matters to attend to.”

The owner responded repeatedly, his eyes filled with admiration and awe.

Since this black-haired, black-armored heavy warrior and his beautiful yet cold partner solved that case that had troubled the Adventurers Guild for so long a few days ago, the name of “Momon the Black Hero” had spread throughout this fortress city. Follow the newest chapters on novelping(.)com.

Although he was still only a Copper-plate adventurer, anyone with eyes could see that rising to a higher rank was only a matter of time.

People came and went on the afternoon streets of E-Rantel; the cries of vendors, the laughter of children, and the rumbling of carriages intertwined to form a peaceful scene of city life.

Ainz’s gaze swept through the crowd.

His undead instincts allowed him to calmly analyze the threat level of everyone around him, but at this moment, his mind was not on that at all.

“Narberal,” he lowered his voice, ensuring only the maid behind him could hear, “the person’s exact location?”

“The last confirmed information was yesterday evening, in a tavern near the Adventurers Guild.”

Nabe replied in a low voice as well, her pace steady.

“The individual doesn’t seem to be deliberately hiding their tracks, but they aren’t being particularly high-profile either.

According to witnesses, the person ordered an expensive drink but didn’t touch it, merely asking the tavern owner if they knew the location of ‘Ainz Ooal Gown’.”

“Naturally, the tavern owner didn’t know, but the news quickly spread among the adventurers.”

Ainz walked in silence, the crimson eyes beneath his helmet flickering slightly.

Deliberately inquiring rather than hiding—this behavior itself was somewhat subtle.

If it were truly a companion, logically they should have been more cautious.

But if it wasn’t a companion…

who could it be?

He shook his head, temporarily suppressing these stray thoughts.

Regardless, he could only make a judgment after seeing the person with his own eyes.

A tavern appeared at the end of the street.

It was a two-story building with a wooden board engraved with the tavern’s name standing by the door.

Just as Ainz reached the door, he saw a young attendant rushing out in a panic, nearly colliding with him.

“Ah!

Lo-Lord Momon!”

The young attendant quickly backed up two steps, his face flushing red.

“I’m so sorry!

I didn’t mean to—”

“It’s fine.”

Ainz waved his hand.

“What happened?”

it’s like this…”

The attendant swallowed, a hint of nervousness in his eyes.

“That strange adventurer who’s been asking for information around town lately is in the tavern right now.

Just now, a few adventurers got into a conflict with him and are causing trouble for him.”

He shook his head, temporarily suppressing these stray thoughts.

Regardless, he could only make a judgment after seeing the person with his own eyes.

Ainz paused for a moment, then strode into the tavern.

The tavern was more crowded than it looked from the outside, with many adventurers gathered there at the moment.

Ainz immediately spotted a cleared space where tables and chairs had been overturned—

Several men in leather armor with swords at their waists were lying there.

The leader seemed to be a burly man with a fleshy face, a Gold-rank plate pinned to his chest.

These men, who should have been among the “strong,” could now only clutch their legs and wail on the ground.

From the time the attendant ran out to when he entered the tavern, all the enemies had been knocked to the ground in such a short span—

He is an absolute master among humans!

Could it really be a player?

Opposite them, a figure leaning lazily against the wall was calmly watching everything.

It was a young man—at least in appearance.

Messy black hair hung over his forehead, and his black eyes were deep and calm, as if the provocation before him was nothing more than the boring buzzing of a mosquito.

He wore a suit of silver-white full-body armor.

The surface lacked excessive decoration, with simple and smooth lines, yet the joints showed extremely precise craftsmanship—certainly not something a common blacksmith shop could produce.

A silver-white spear, about two meters long, leaned against the wall beside him.

Fine patterns were engraved on the shaft, and the spearhead glinted with a cold light.

A low voice came from his mouth.

“I did say that information regarding the location of Ainz Ooal Gown is worth ten gold coins to me.

But I will only pay after confirmation.”

“You expect to get paid for just tossing out some unverified information about the Holy Kingdom’s capital?”

“Do you take me for a fool?”

Maybe it’s not a big deal now… maybe it will be later.

“And If you’re enjoying it, drop a Power Stone for me!”
