“Eh? Why isn’t Yueting here tonight?”

“What else could it be? He’s probably coaxing Pei Yan.”

“Hah, it’s definitely nothing. Pei Yan is so devoted, completely dedicated to our Brother Ting.”

“But have you guys seen the entertainment news? I think she’s truly angry this time.”

“He just needs to coax her a bit. It’s always been like this.”

“They’re about to get married. There’s no way they’ll break up.”

“She looks down on us so much, yet she can’t even get a pleasant look from Yueting all day. Who in the entire Sui River doesn’t laugh at her?”

“…”

The derisive words were like a sharp, pointed knife, plunging straight into Pei Yan’s heart.

That’s right, who in the entire Sui River didn’t laugh at her?

Pei Yan scoffed. Fu Huaizhou stepped forward and grabbed her arm, afraid she would miss a step on the stairs in her anger.

Pei Yan pulled her arm out of his grasp.

She staggered a few steps, aimed for an empty spot on the sofa, and sat right down.

The group of people jumped in fright. When they saw who it was, their faces turned pale.

Although they had been speaking with gusto just now, it was all private complaining.

No matter how much Li Yueting disliked Pei Yan, he was still a man who cared about his pride. How could he like his friends bad-mouthing Pei Yan?

“Pei… Pei Yan?”

In the dim environment, they hadn’t noticed Fu Huaizhou behind the pillar.

Pei Yan’s gaze swept over their faces one by one, from left to right. The group could only offer placating smiles.

“Whether in the past or now, I’ve never liked any of you,” Pei Yan said nonchalantly, her expression filled with arrogance. “But I have never said a single bad word about you to Li Yueting.”

“…”

Her words made every one of them blush with embarrassment.

“Also, Li Yueting and I have broken up,” Pei Yan said, trying hard to suppress her drunkenness. “In the future, don’t mention my name in the same breath as his. I find it disgusting.”

“Broken up?” the man opposite Pei Yan asked in surprise.

Pei Yan: “We broke up.”

“…” Another round of complete silence.

“If anyone says anything that makes me uncomfortable again, don’t blame me for not being polite.”

The group quickly forced a few awkward laughs.

A bunch of idiots!

Pei Yan rolled her eyes at them, then got up and walked further inside.

After she left, those fair-weather friends immediately huddled together to call Li Yueting.

Fu Huaizhou shot them a cold glance from behind before following Pei Yan.

He gave Gu Jingyi a look, and Gu Jingyi had someone lead them to a VIP room.

Besides being safer and more private, this area also offered personal butler service.

After the drinks were served, Fu Huaizhou waved his hand, and soon only he and Pei Yan were left in the room.

Pei Yan picked up a glass and chugged some wine. Fu Huaizhou didn’t stop her, merely watching her quietly.

For a full half-hour, neither of them said a word.

Pei Yan drank the last mouthful too quickly. The liquor trickled down from the corner of her lips, and she wiped it away with the back of her hand.

She lifted her eyes to look at Fu Huaizhou. “Why aren’t you drinking?”

Fu Huaizhou: “If I drink, who will take you home?”

“Oh,” Pei Yan said blankly. “But… who are you? A bodyguard?”

Fu Huaizhou was speechless.

She was probably truly drunk.

Even Pei Yan’s exquisite makeup couldn’t hide her dazed and charming appearance when drunk.

After a moment, she suddenly stood up and squeezed into Fu Huaizhou’s single-seater sofa, half-draped over his chest with a fierce expression.

“Li Yueting? You’re really not human. Tell me, in what way have I wronged you?”

Fu Huaizhou stared at her opening and closing lips, swallowing reflexively as his prominent Adam’s apple bobbed up and down.

“Why are you doing this to me? Why?”

“You’re really… such a bastard. From now on, stay far away from me.”

Fu Huaizhou’s caressing fingertips paused. He spoke, his lips almost touching hers, “If he’s so bad, why do you still like him?”

“Who likes him? I don’t like him, I don’t…”

Pei Yan kept repeating those three words over and over.

Fu Huaizhou lowered his eyes in self-mockery. “The first time I saw you, I was twenty. You’ve already held me up for nine years. Now, how long will it take you to forget him?”

He spoke almost in a whisper, not as a question to her, but to himself.

Pei Yan furrowed her brows. “What are you saying? It’s all buzzing.”

Fu Huaizhou chuckled lightly. “It’s nothing.”

Pei Yan stared at Fu Huaizhou’s lips, her mind filled with Pei Ying’s words: “Am I supposed to live like a widow for him?”

“Have you ever…” Pei Yan stared at his well-proportioned lips, “…kissed anyone before?”

Fu Huaizhou gazed at her moist, pouting lips, his eyes darkening as he said in a low voice, “You’re drunk.”

Pei Yan subconsciously licked her lips, grabbed his shirt collar, and pulled herself up a little higher.

“Have you… ever kissed anyone?” Pei Yan asked again. “What does kissing feel like?”

Fu Huaizhou was taken aback. “You don’t know?”

“Would I be asking you if I knew?” Pei Yan retorted quickly. “Aren’t you the pretty boy I hired? Tell me, have you kissed someone or not?”

Fu Huaizhou was stunned for a moment. Although there was a sliver of secret joy, it was overshadowed by heartache.

Li! Yue! Ting! How could you humiliate her like this?

They had been in a relationship for three years, yet they had never even shared a single kiss.

Leaving her here, looking so pitiful.

Pei Yan sniffled, and suddenly, large tears began to fall.

Fu Huaizhou was startled and immediately helped her sit up straight, not knowing where to put his hands and feet.

“What’s wrong?”

“I just feel so pathetic. What the hell kind of relationship was I in? I’ve never even been kissed.”

Fu Huaizhou was at a loss, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. “Then what do you want to do?”

The saying “alcohol gives courage to the timid” was quite applicable to the current Pei Yan. Her dark, glistening eyes darted back and forth, like a mischievous child hiding a bad idea.

“Umm… I’ve already spent the money, so why don’t you let me kiss you?”

Fu Huaizhou chuckled in amusement. “What money did you spend?”

“On you,” Pei Yan said, getting agitated. “Aren’t you a male escort?”

Fu Huaizhou raised an eyebrow. “Should I thank you for putting it so tactfully?”

Pei Yan let out two silly giggles. “Calling you a duck sounds so crude.”

Fu Huaizhou laughed, exasperated. “Miss Pei, I am Fu Huaizhou.”

“Fu Huaizhou?” Pei Yan looked at him several times with her shimmering, enchanting eyes. “You do look like him.”

“…”

The scent of alcohol mixed with a light floral fragrance continuously assaulted Fu Huaizhou.

Yet Pei Yan continued to unwittingly provoke him.

“So, is it a yes or no? What’s the big deal about one kiss?”

The second Miss Pei’s temper flared. She grabbed one side of his shirt collar, and two buttons popped off, revealing his firm and well-built chest.

Fu Huaizhou, at the end of his rope, pressed the back of Pei Yan’s neck. “Are you sure you want to try?”

The phone on the sofa armrest vibrated. A message from Gu Jingyi suddenly popped up on the black screen: [Li Yueting is here.]

Fu Huaizhou’s gaze darkened. He turned his head and kissed Pei Yan.

Pei Yan’s mouth was slightly agape as she looked up at him. The moment their lips touched, an unfamiliar masculine scent rushed towards her.

Her mouth was pried open by his tongue, leaving no room for even a tentative exploration.

The fierce, licking kiss was overwhelming. Her heart pounded violently, and Pei Yan froze.

Her mind was dizzy, and she felt a little breathless.

The kiss was scorching and wet. A numbing sensation spread from her spine, and she instantly went limp like water.

“Pei Yan?”

A familiar shout suddenly came from outside the VIP room.

Why did it sound like Li Yueting’s voice?

“Young Master Li, please stop. Mr. Fu is inside,” a staff member outside blocked Li Yueting’s path.

Pei Yan’s neck was held firmly in place, forcing her to tilt her head back and accept Fu Huaizhou’s ferocious and domineering kiss.

“Mmph…”

She felt like her brain was running out of oxygen!

Let go of me!

After a long moment, Fu Huaizhou released her. Pei Yan collapsed against his chest, gasping for air.

The door to the high-end custom suite was suddenly pushed open from the outside.

Fu Huaizhou’s breathing was heavy. Hearing the commotion, he looked up, and his eyes met those of Li Yueting, who had just burst in.
