The three of them each harbored their own thoughts, Pei Yan and Li Yueting staring at each other through two car windows.

Li Yueting was momentarily dazed, even afraid to step out of the car.

Pei Yan, you’re really with Fu Huaizhou.Full novel: Stealing Jade into the Embrace — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Are you betraying me too?

Yes, betrayal!

To him, Pei Yan’s breakup was nothing short of betrayal.

He had clearly done nothing wrong—those words in the video were just drunken nonsense, not to be taken seriously.

Yet Pei Yan insisted on ending things.

Li Yueting then glanced at Fu Huaizhou, his heart filled with shock and suspicion.

Fu Huaizhou didn’t notice Li Yueting’s scrutinizing gaze because his mind had wandered.

He had witnessed a similar scene before, but back then, Pei Yan was sitting in Li Yueting’s car.

Standing at the entrance of the nightclub, his gaze at her was greedy and affectionate, known only to the night.

From beginning to end, she never once looked his way.

Now, with both sides at a standoff, a dark sense of satisfaction rose within Fu Huaizhou.

Li Yueting hadn’t expected to actually intercept them, his mind consumed by his sister’s mention of “stealing someone’s partner.”

After hesitating for a moment, Li Yueting opened the car door and stepped out, slamming it shut with his anger.

He strode directly to the passenger side, tapped on Pei Yan’s window, and said coldly, “Get out.Pei Yan’s expression was complex, her lips pressed into a tight line.

The slight improvement in her mood sank back into the mire.

“Pei Yan! Get out.” Li Yueting was nearly hysterical.

As if he might shatter the window the next second.

Pei Yan closed her eyes, unwilling to drag Fu Huaizhou, an outsider, into her personal affairs.

Just as her fingers touched the door handle, Fu Huaizhou grabbed her wrist.

The heat of his palm seemed capable of scorching her porcelain skin. Pei Yan instinctively pulled back, but Fu Huaizhou said, “If you don’t want to go, I can drive away.”

“No need.” Pei Yan broke free from his grip. “I’ll go out and see.”

His palm now empty, Fu Huaizhou gave a self-mocking smile.

As soon as Pei Yan stepped out, Li Yueting grabbed her wrist: “Come with me.”

“My foot.” Pei Yan couldn’t shake off Li Yueting’s grip and could only exclaim, “Are you crazy? Where am I going? Let go of me.”

Li Yueting stopped, guiltily glancing at her foot: “Then I’ll walk slower.”

Pei Yan irritably pushed him away: “What do you want? How did you know I was here?”

Li Yueting instinctively looked at Fu Huaizhou, still in the car, and retorted, “Why are you with him?”

Pei Yan: “Who I’m with is none of your business. Don’t forget, we broke up.”

“I didn’t agree.” Li Yueting’s face was shadowed with gloom. “The wedding is in a month. Can you stop causing trouble?”

“Me causing trouble?” Pei Yan didn’t even have the energy to laugh. “We haven’t taken wedding photos or gotten the marriage certificate. It’s just a wedding—cancel it if you have to.”

Li Yueting grabbed her shoulders: “Then let’s go take them now.”

Pei Yan stared at him expressionlessly. Li Yueting’s heart panicked: “Getting the certificate is up to you too.”

Pei Yan fixed her gaze on him and said, “Take your hands off me.”

Her eyes were too imposing. Li Yueting instinctively withdrew his hands, pleading pitifully, “Xiao Yan.”

In the past, that look of his would always soften her heart.

But not this time.

Pei Yan said, “Li Yueting, you’re 29, not 9. We’ve had arguments before, but I never once mentioned breaking up. Can’t we part on good terms?”

Li Yueting knew Pei Yan was determined this time, so he simply resorted to shamelessness: “No way, I’m not breaking up no matter what.”

Pei Yan pushed him away and started to leave. Seeing her head straight for Fu Huaizhou’s car, Li Yueting’s expression instantly darkened as he grabbed her arm:

“What are you doing? My car is right here.”

Pei Yan: “I don’t need your help.”

“With him?” Li Yueting roared, “Jialin told me you were with Fu Huaizhou but I didn’t believe it. I wanted to ask you personally, only to see you in his car?”

Pei Yan also grew angry: “Is it illegal for me to be in his car?”

Li Yueting: “Does he have feelings for you?”

Pei Yan found this absurd and instinctively glanced at Fu Huaizhou. His eyes were dense like fog, revealing no emotion whatsoever.

Fu Huaizhou had rolled down the car window the moment Pei Yan got out of the vehicle.

Thus, he had clearly heard every word of their argument.

Li Jialin? Fu Huaizhou naturally knew her – she was close friends with his cousin Fu Shuyue and they often hung out together.

They must have come here earlier.

Fu Huaizhou unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car, leaning against the vehicle as he lit a cigarette.

The two were still arguing. When the cigarette was half-smoked, he glanced casually at Li Yueting: “Are you two… fighting because of me?”

His tone was dismissive, a faint smile playing on his lips.

But Li Yueting couldn’t decipher that smile.

He had known Fu Huaizhou for several years, though they had only grown closer in the past three years.

But their interactions were limited to nightlife venues – they had little private contact.

Yet this was someone he couldn’t afford to offend, so Li Yueting could only suppress his doubts and anger.

Pei Yan mocked: “He was just saying what a good person you are.”

Li Yueting looked completely confused.

Pei Yan added: “Truly worthy of being your friend. He even asked if there was some misunderstanding between us. I almost suspected you sent him as a mediator.”

Li Yueting remained skeptical – Fu Huaizhou wasn’t someone who meddled in others’ affairs.

Fu Huaizhou knew he couldn’t afford to fall out with Li Yueting now.

If he revealed his feelings for Pei Yan at this moment, she would definitely keep her distance from him.

Although these two had broken up, their marriage concerned both the Pei and Li families, and clearly the Li family was unwilling to cancel the engagement.

At the very least, he needed to wait until the families officially announced the cancellation of the engagement.

“Heh…” Fu Huaizhou chuckled lightly, “Well, my good deed today was wasted. I’m leaving.”

“Huaizhou.” Li Yueting caught up to him, “That’s not what I meant. It’s all that little girl Jialin who misled me.”

Fu Huaizhou gave a slight nod without even looking at him.

“Fu Huaizhou, wait.” Pei Yan stopped him, “Take me back.”

Fu Huaizhou looked troubled: “I only let you in my car because of this morning’s news. I figured paparazzi would catch you waiting for your driver. I just didn’t expect Yueting to get so angry, and I didn’t know you two had broken up.”

Li Yueting had indeed encountered paparazzi when he went out.

He felt even more guilty now: “Sorry about that, Huaizhou.”

Fu Huaizhou shook his head and got into his car without another word.

Pei Yan gave Fu Huaizhou a strange look, sensing a hint of grievance in his tone just now.

The words felt familiar to her – once, a minor artist under Blue Sail had deliberately called her late at night after having a few meals with Li Yueting.

The artist had said: “I only had a few meals with the young master. I didn’t expect to make the second young lady so angry.”

Coincidentally, she and Li Yueting had been featured in gossip headlines at the time due to their arguments.

This little actress was full of herself, thinking that her argument with Li Yueting was all about her.

Hearing Fu Huaizhou’s subtly sarcastic remarks today, she actually felt like laughing.

“Xiao Yan, get in my car. I’ll take you back.”

Pei Yan had already made up her mind to break up, so naturally she wouldn’t accept.

But since she had dragged Fu Huaizhou into her argument with Li Yueting earlier, she didn’t want to involve him either.

She simply said, “I’ll call my driver. No need.”

Li Yueting stopped her: “Your foot hasn’t fully recovered yet. It’ll take the driver at least an hour to get here. Since you don’t want to ride with me, I’ll ask Huaizhou to take you back.”

Pei Yan remained silent.

But Li Yueting had already turned to plead with Fu Huaizhou.

“Huaizhou, I’m really sorry to trouble you, but could you please take Xiao Yan back? I’ll treat you to a meal another day.”

Fu Huaizhou pretended to be hesitant.

Li Yueting pleaded repeatedly: “Huaizhou.”

Finally, Fu Huaizhou nodded, feigning reluctance: “Alright.”
