PROLOGUE
The demons rebelled, plunging the continent into chaos and unleashing devastation upon the four great races: humans, dwarves, elves, and beast kin. United in desperation, these races formed an alliance to combat the demonic onslaught. Yet even their combined strength proved insufficient against the demons’ overwhelming power, allowing the invaders to ravage the land. The four races could do no more than contain the demons, preventing them from achieving total domination.
In their hour of need, the beleaguered races sought aid from the two most powerful and reclusive beings: the dragons and the fairies. However, the dragons refused to intervene. Their numbers had dwindled to a scant few purebloods, and the once-common hybrids—those bearing potent dragon blood—had mysteriously ceased to appear, leaving their kind too diminished to risk involvement in the conflict.
With the dragons unwilling to act, the races turned to the fairies, whose playful and capricious nature made them more approachable. Yet even the fairies were bound by the immutable laws of their realm, which forbade them from directly intervening in the mortal world. Instead, they offered counsel and bestowed upon the races a measure of their power: the ability to summon otherworlders—warriors and heroes drawn from distant realms—to fight in their stead.
This fragile solution became the cornerstone of the races’ resistance. Through the summoning of these otherworldly champions, empowered by the fairies’ magic, the four races were able to hold the demons at bay, preserving what remained of their world from utter destruction.
