The cold Berlin rain fell incessantly, turning the asphalt streets into a dark mirror reflecting the reddish lights of distant police sirens.

The group tumbled down a rusty maintenance hatch leading to a disused underground gallery of the city's storm sewer system. Dieter led the way with firm steps, holding a pocket flashlight whose beam cut through the damp gloom and the strong smell of slime and aged concrete.

"This way," whispered Dieter, raising his voice just enough to be heard over the echo of the dripping water. "This section was deactivated in the nineties. The digital intelligence maps don't have a record of this gallery. We'll be safe for a few hours."Full novel: Surviving in Hanna: My System 100x — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Erik Heller was the last to descend, closing the heavy iron hatch above them and turning the safety latch with a muffled thud. He braced his rifle against the red brick wall and took a deep breath, massaging the bridge of his nose with an expression of exhaustion mixed with profound tactical concentration.

The lightning escape from Dieter's apartment had been clean, but the margin for error was shrinking by the minute. The CIA knew they were in the city and that the ultimate objective could only be one: the main core of Utrax.

In the opposite corner of the dry tunnel, away from direct moisture, Arthur checked the state of his equipment. The adrenaline from the recent confrontation was beginning to dissipate, giving way to a constant feeling of mental clarity provided by the system.

The numbers rose gradually, exactly as expected. Each confrontation on the streets of Berlin honed Arthur's skills, transforming him from an ordinary former guard into a lethal cog perfectly adapted to the underworld of espionage.

Hanna sat on an abandoned wooden crate, wiping the blade of her tactical knife with a clean piece of cloth. The flashlight's reflection illuminated her firm features and focused blue gaze, but there was a new softness in her posture as she noticed Arthur approaching.

He sat beside her on the crate. The space was cramped, keeping them close. Arthur's body heat offered a comforting contrast to the damp cold rising from the stone floor.

"Are you hurt?" Arthur asked softly, discreetly examining her arms and coat for any scratches.

Hanna shook her head, holstering the knife with a dry click. She turned to face him, and the corners of her mouth curved into a tiny smile that only Arthur could notice.

"They're slow," she said frankly, her voice hoarse and calm. "They think as a team, but they act alone when fear grips them. They don't know how to fight like we do."

"Because they follow manual protocols," Arthur replied, raising his hand to brush a strand of blonde hair that fell across her forehead. Hanna didn't flinch; instead, she tilted her head slightly toward his touch, closing her eyes for a second to absorb the reassurance of the gesture. "We follow each other."

A few meters away, Erik unrolled a printed map of Berlin's underground electrical grid onto an empty cable reel. Looking up and seeing the silent proximity between the girl he had raised as a fighting machine and the young ex-guard who had turned his world upside down, Erik swallowed hard. He looked back at the map, feeling a mixture of resignation and relief. The she-wolf had finally found her place in the world, and it was no longer in the icy shadows of Utrax.

"Very well," Erik called, clearing his throat to break the intimate silence. "If Dieter's data is correct, Marissa Wiegler's main reactivation complex is located just below the basement of the old postal distribution center, three kilometers from here. Internal security will be heavy: armored doors, biometric recognition, and elite patrols in every corridor."

Arthur rose from the crate, feeling the stable energy of the system pulsing through his veins. The moment of the final invasion was approaching, and with it, the promise of the ultimate reward and the ultimate evolution of his core.

"Then let's finish what we started," Arthur said, looking at Hanna, who was already standing, rifle adjusted and ready to march alongside him towards the heart of Hydra.
