The trailer's engine roared as Sebastian, his knuckles white from gripping the steering wheel, drove through the control gates of the ferry terminal on Morocco's northern coast. The tension in the cabin was palpable, but the silence that reigned among the adults masked a mutual urgency: no one there wanted to cross paths with those armed men again.
In the back, protected by the side curtains, Hanna kept her eyes fixed on the road behind them. Sophie, still trembling from the shock of the shootout, looked at the blonde girl with a mixture of astonishment and silent respect. Although the Phillips were frightened by the true nature of the "backpackers" they had taken in, the mutual protection on the road had made it clear that they had no choice but to follow through to the end.
"Documents ready. Don't draw attention," Arthur murmured softly, checking the fake passes they had taken from the fallen CIA agents in the desert.
As soon as the ferry docked at the European port, the vehicle rolled down the metal ramp under the grey light of dawn. The damp, cold air of Europe replaced the suffocating desert heat. In the original series, Hanna's journey on European soil began with the inevitable separation from the Phillips family and the start of the relentless search for Erik Heller and the truths about her past. This time, however, she wasn't alone in the shadows.
"This is our limit," said Arthur, looking at Sebastian, who had discreetly stopped the trailer on a tree-lined side street a few blocks from the city center.
Sebastian nodded quickly, too afraid to ask dangerous questions.
Hanna opened the trailer door and jumped onto the cold asphalt. She looked back one last time, meeting Sophie's gaze, who waved shyly, understanding that certain lives belonged to entirely different worlds. Hanna returned an almost imperceptible wave—the closest thing to a farewell she could manage.
She turned to Arthur, who already had his lightweight equipment adjusted to his body.
“Erik is in Germany,” Hanna said in her harsh voice, staring intently at the urban skyline stretching ahead. “The Utrax files say he’s on the move. They’re going to hunt us both down.”
Arthur stepped forward, feeling the cold stability of the system in his mind. The level of power he had attained was enough to face the first waves of CIA agents, but the real war over Project Utrax was only just beginning.
“Then let’s find Erik before Marissa Wiegler sends a whole squad after him,” Arthur replied firmly.
The she-wolf and her shadow walked together toward the train station, disappearing into the grey crowd of Europe, ready to face the next chapter of the hunt.
