Caelen turned toward the door, and his eyes narrowed. Then, without speaking, he crossed over to the door and opened it. The girl who was standing at the door flinched when she saw the door open, shuffling back, her head down.
Caelen noticed her behavior. ’She’s afraid of Caelen? Why? Is she an enemy? Surprised that he answered?’
But he doubted that. The fear that she was showing looked real.
’Then, why was she afraid of me?’
He studied her. She was a short girl, thin, with black hair flowing down her back, covering most of her face.
To test her, Caelen sneered. "You haven’t transferred out of the class yet?"
She flinched even more, and her body trembled. "I...in...instructor Caelen...you said you’ll help me...after...."
"Tell me your name," Caelen said.
She raised her head, and a flash of anger and resentment showed within, as well as surprise, as she met the unusually cold eyes that were looking at her. She hurriedly looked down as she shuddered. "Alina."
As soon as Caelen heard the name, a flood of memories came. "Ah...I remember you now."
And he did. The girl belonged to his Class Thirteen, his student. She had average potential at cultivating essence, but whatever potential she had simply began to reduce over the two years she spent with him.
The previous year, though, she had taken the step and tried her best to get out of the class, and the previous Caelen naturally took advantage of this to sleep with her multiple times while not doing a single thing to help her.
When Caelen saw these memories, he felt a wave of disgust flow into his heart. ’Seriously. Didn’t the previous body have some dignity? And taste? At least it’s better that all the students were only admitted at eighteen years.’
Caelen wasn’t a saint, or even claimed to be one. But he was someone who had some dignity and wouldn’t even look at people who were not worth it. Like this Alina.
"Well, Alina," Caelen smiled, but there was no warmth to be found there. "Go ahead, calm the class for me. And let me reward you."
When Alina heard this, she whimpered and jumped back as if Caelen’s words were hot coals. "I...no...no...need!"
This made Caelen frown. How could such a timid student be in his class? As the First Awakener in his first life, he was at first responsible for training and guiding the next generation, although some people called his methods tyrannical and villainous.
The question was, did they produce results?

As soon as the words fell, the first thing that Alina felt was surprise that Caelen had said something that wasn’t lecherous. Then, when she understood his words, she shuddered and looked up in fear, her whole body locking up. "No no no no no...."
Class captain for Class Thirteen? Wasn’t that just like taking a sheep and putting it in front of wolves?
The timid girl opened her mouth, but Caelen raised his hand to cut her off. He ordered, "Go now and wait for me. I will be there shortly."
Alina had no will to resist, and so she fled down the hallway, doing her best to get far away from her instructor.
Caelen stood where he was as he continued to examine the steady stream of memories that was getting into his mind.
’Class Thirteen was indeed a unique class. It was created three years ago when I joined. And it was as if all the backbenchers of different classes were sent to me.’
’Most of them were given scholarships to the Academy so that there’d be some hope for the poor. Even their families and Houses didn’t care about them.’
’My students were really mostly useless, with little potential. But I can work with that.’
’Alright then. I’ve made up my mind. I’ll spend some time in the Academy before I explore outside it. I’ll use that time to get to know the world and whatever plots are against me. Especially those trying to kill me.’
’And naturally I’ll have to get myself some subordinates. Unlike my previous life, where I didn’t have any underlings.’
His mouth curled upward. "Venomous jar. How many can I put in this time?"

Alina ran down the hallway and out of the instructors’ quarters, her heart beating fast and her body covered in cold sweat. Her face was filled with complicated emotions.
First, she didn’t understand what had just happened with that leery toad, Caelen. For one, each time she went to his room to call him—he had mandated that it should be her for a while, though he always changed it—he would drag her into the room and grope her, and sometimes, something worse would happen.
But now, he had only looked at her with an intensely cold expression that struck fear of a different kind into her. His face was almost devoid of anything else.
’What was that?’
’So he’s done with me and wants to kill me now.’
Alina felt resentment, and her hands clenched from her helplessness.
With her head still down, she made her way to the auditorium that housed most of the classes.
The auditorium was built on a piece of land with thick essence veins, but they weren’t spread equally. Thus, some classes were shabby, and some were very good.
And as expected of Class Thirteen, the class was the shabbiest. The essence was extremely poor, and the building itself was unrefined.
The seats were arranged in rising rows facing the big blackboard at the front so that no matter where the students sat, they would still see the board.
The students heard footsteps and turned toward the door.
When Alina entered the class, she froze.
All eyes were on her, and none of the expressions were pleasant. Most were just indifferent.
Although it was just a brief look into the room before she lowered her head again, Alina noted that there were more new faces in the room, and the old faces were fewer.
"Ugly pig, have you had your fill of the instructor for today?" one of the old faces, one of Caelen’s old friends, sneered at her. The girl’s eyes were vicious. "Opened yourself up, eh?"
Alina hurried to her place, her face burning as she sat, not daring to say anything. Not even what Caelen had said about the class settling down.
The girl who spoke huffed and rolled her eyes. She turned to look at one of the newcomers, putting a pleasant expression on her face and trying to keep her voice seductive. "Lord Kolu. Do you really plan to stay in our class?"
The room went silent as if they wanted to hear this young man’s answer.
This Lord Kolu was another newcomer, and he turned to look at her. Instead of answering her, he asked, "What’s Lord...Instructor Caelen like?"
Different expressions flashed across people’s faces. Some of them groaned. Disgust appeared on some faces, some rolled their eyes, while others just looked away.
The girl opened her mouth and said, "You better run if you don’t want your life destroyed."
