Olivia’s POV
I woke up to the noisy chirping of the birds on top of the tree beside the room window.
Rays of the morning sunlight shone through the windows, casting a golden reflection inside the room which was breathtaking, majestic, and beautiful.
The sheets beneath me, slick and soft, coiled around me in a passionate embrace as if too reluctant to let go.
I touched beside me and it was cold and empty.
Disappointment washed over me.
“He didn’t sleep here,” I muttered.
When he drew close to me last night, our bodies almost touching, I felt something shift in me, like my body desired and longed for him.
When I looked into his eyes, I felt something dark, possessive, and dominant, and I also saw tenderness in them, but it only flashed for a while.
“Did he also desire me?”
”Why does it seem like he wants me to?”
”Should I give in if he wants me?”
”Can I even resist?”
All these questions ran through my head, a thousand thoughts at every interval.
I still haven’t understood what my grandma was trying to say in the dream I had last time.
I dread recalling it as tears fill my eyes whenever I think of her.
Oh dear Moon Goddess, I so much miss my grandma.
Reaching inside my dress around my neck, I pulled out a necklace.
A pendant and an abandoned silver string I found somewhere, which I used to tie it together so that I can always carry it close to my heart.
I brought it close to my lips and kissed it.
It was the only thing that reminded me of my grandma, and she placed deep emphasis on me to always keep it safe with me.
Drops of tears from my eyes fell on it, and I noticed it shone with a strange light for a second and then went dim.
I felt a strange energy run through my body, settling around my heart.
I panicked at what just happened.
Everything seemed unreal. This chapter is updated first at novelping.com.
Was I hallucinating?
No, I swear to the Moon Goddess I saw the light.
And even that strange energy that entered my body.
All of this can’t be fake.
I brought the pendant closer and began to scrutinize it.
It was just plain and looked like nothing special, but I knew it held secrets I’m yet to unravel.
“What secrets lie beneath this ordinary-looking pendant?”
”What does my life and destiny have to do with it?”
”What great fate can a plus-size rejected girl like me who can’t shift yet have?”
I muttered.
“You’re anything but ordinary, Olivia. And the wings of destiny are already flapping. Be ready to ride on its great wings,” Lucy reassured.
And this time, a part of me believed her.
With everything that has been happening to me, I think my life is not as ordinary as I thought.
I dare not dream to be someone great and mighty like a celebrity, but I know that within this plus-size body of mine lie great secrets that even I don’t know yet.
But one thing was certain — whatever fate has in store for me has already started in motion.
And just like my grandma said, when fate calls, I would have no option but to answer.
Instead of just sitting and doing nothing and fantasizing about an Alpha mate that might not see me the same way I do, I might as well train my body and skills to at least withstand or defend myself.
I stood up from the bed and headed to the bathroom.
My toothbrush and toiletries were already arranged in the corner.
I smiled at the arrangement.
Everything looked perfect, like I was meant to be here.
“How thoughtful of him,” I muttered.
I went ahead to brush my teeth and took my bath afterward. You are reading on g.com, the official source.
I came out and sat before the dresser.
I applied lotion on my body and face and then proceeded to apply light makeup.
After that, I packed my hair into two ponytails and finished with a body spray and some perfume I found on the table.
I put on a jean short and a crop top which exposed a bit of my stomach.
Yeah, my stomach.
I was plus-size, but that doesn’t mean I have a pot belly, so yeah, I’m leaving it open like that.
I took a look at myself and chuckled at what I saw.
First, I’m going to walk into the breakfast hall this morning with my head and shoulders raised up, and proceed to train — although I don’t know how to go about that, but I think I will figure it out.
I always do.
After taking a final look in the mirror, I headed out.
Closing the door after me, I followed the passage I thought led downstairs, and shortly I was descending the stairs.
I followed my memory and walked towards the dining hall like last time.
I believe breakfast would also be held there.
I got before the tall black door that was decorated with gold and had drawings of ancient wolves and other creatures I didn’t recognize.
I paused for a moment and, without knocking, pushed open the giant doors, leaving a cracking sound as I walked in steadily and with confidence.
Everywhere suddenly went quiet.
The chatting.
The murmurings.
The clash of plates and spoons stopped.
And then—”Dang…”
The crashing of a plate on the floor.
