Selena’s POV

I wasn’t able to sleep early that night, when I woke up the next morning light pouring into the bedroom I couldn’t push away in the feeling of unease-the fact that it all felt so temporary.

But I already had a plan in motion…Full novel: The Alpha’s Scarlet Slave — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

If everything goes right….

Then…

I jumped out of bed deciding that I was not going to spend the rest of the day just thinking about that and have to begin preparing breakfast for me and Ian.

First I began with some of the cleaning of the annex, the headmaid occasionally dropped in from time to time to see if I was actually maintaining the place and since I could not explain my true relationship with Ian yet I had to keep this up, also it kept me occupied when my mind would have been wandering around on its own to memories that I needed to leave be for now.

I was taking the broom to the living room when there was pounding on the door and I was confused it was repeated another loud too.

Setting the broom aside I went over to the door to inspect what was going on and I could not believe what was waiting was can we for me there.

Two barely guards who looked like they could slap it tree trunk between their fingers and that man Eugene from yesterday standing between them.

My eyes bulged wide, demanding an explanation before my lips could.

“What’s going on?” I said to all three men, Eugene did not even bother to address me he just flicked his fingers at one of the muscular men by his side and said; “scour the entire annex until you find it I know this when she has it hidden somewhere you will not return back until you have found what I’m talking about,”

The guard he had spoken to shoved passed me with search force that the only reason why I did not land and crash the back of my head against the floorboard was because the other guard grabbed my arm and yanked me to my feet. This chapter was taken from novelping . com without permission.

“What are you doing?!” I screamed my voice going higher, Eugene step forward and slapped me across the face.

“A mere slave raising her voice up to me… It seems you do not know your place..”

His eyes darkened and his fingers began to stretch until the way between nails and claws, he raised them like this in this form prepared to strike me.

“Council member Eugene…” It was Ian

I never thought I would be so relieved to hear someone’s voice especially someone from the North.

Eugene turned around his entire demeanor immediately softening at the sight of the grand Alpha.

“Grand alpha I can explain…” He said quickly then pointed a finger at me, “… This wicked slave is not what you think she is she has been fooling you all this time,”

“Release her first…” He commanded the guard that was holding me there was some long terms in his movement but gradually and reluctantly he released me.

Ian saw the bruise on my wrist and came over, Eugene appeared to be completely flabbergasted by the time Ian had returned his eyes to him they looked completely darkened like the night sky.

“Just what has possessed all of you to go after her? Do none of you value your lives anymore? She lives here quietly in the annex and yet somehow everyday there’s a new thing I have to settle, you …”

“Grand alpha I know it doesn’t seem that way but let me explain…

This woman she has been…”he gulped audiably, “she has been poisoning you grand Alpha,”

I felt the ground beneath my feet to beginning to shift.

What exactly was this guy’s angle? This story is hosted at g.com.

I thought he was loyal to Cassuis?

But if he wasn’t why wasn’t he mentioning him now.

Ian’s face was telling me that this was the first time he had heard about anything poisoning wouldn’t it have made more sense for him to mention Cassius if he was going to betray him?

What he said next clarified the confusion in my mind.

“Grand alpha it’s true… From the first day she came to this place I knew that there was just something about her that could not be trusted… She had the energy of a snake about her that did not allow me to take my eyes away so I had my people watching her… And she has been carefully asking for ingredients to make a poison… And I’m sure that if we look through this place right now we will definitely find it,”

Part of me was completely gobsmacked and that shop reflected at the worst possible time as Ian turned around to see my face to ask me the question if I was guilty or not of the accusations that were being levied against me.

The way he caught that expression on my face how I was unable to say anything for too long or in those precious seconds it felt like I waited too long before I said; “grand alpha I can explain…this man….”

I wish he could give me something from his face, but he looked so painfully neutral everything masked so thickly in a single breath that I didn’t know how to even begin my explanation.

“Grand alpha there is no need for us to waste our time with this let the search continue I’m sure the evidence will show up,”

Ian nodded not looking away from me given permission the guard went around, but it was clear that the other places he searched were just with casual interest as if he already knew exactly where he had to go- into my bedroom on a shaky floorboard he ripped out the floorboard without even trying then he yells at the top of his voice coming out of the bedroom with the green bottle its content now mostly empty and it was wrapped around in a thick rag he placed it in Ian’s hands.

This was when his eyes but I lived mine.

“Take her to the dungeon.”
