Before the Walser Royal Institute was built over a subterranean basement, the universe ran on a simple rule: stay in your own damn lane.

Parallel worlds stayed behind cosmic walls to keep realities from leaking into each other. But then came the software glitches. Dimensional fractures, rogue magic, and soul-snatching—better known as reincarnation—started cracking the barrier like cheap drywall.

Run by a coalition of cosmic fun-spoilers called the Grand Arbiters, their mission was brutally simple: track, isolate, and ctrl-alt-delete any dimension-hopping weirdo who didn't belong in the timeline.

Walser Royal Institute wasn't built to educate spoiled teenagers; it was planted on a dimensional nexus as a glorified Bug Zapper for soul-hoppers:

Signature Testing: Those crystal spheres in the aptitude exam? Complete scam. They don't measure magic—they scan for foreign soul-signatures.

The Black Shards: Confirm an anomaly, and the system deploys skeletal hit-squads to delete targets before they figure out their new cheat codes.

The Altar of Reintegration: Target dropped, body dragged to an underground altar, life force liquefied to patch the timeline.

Basically, it's cosmic tech support—and we just broke the firewall.

The Arbiters designed the Reclamation to hunt clueless civilians, accidental travelers, and pampered nobles who’d faint at a butter knife. They built it to catch sheep.

They never anticipated catching wolves.

By dragging two top-tier assassins—women who made careers out of tactical violence—into bodies gifted with physics-breaking cheat codes, the Arbiters didn't secure their timeline. They gave their worst nightmare a hardware upgrade.

The reinforced steel bulkhead of the administrative wing didn't even register as an obstacle.

With a middle-finger flick of my wrist, I folded space—yanked the coordinates behind the locking mechanism over the space in front of it—and ripped the heavy electronic bolts straight out of their housing. The screech of tortured metal sounded like a cat in a blender, releasing a cloud of scorched wire smoke. The doors blew wide open with glorious dramatic flair.

The other Tiara cleared the threshold first, her knuckles white as she gripped her blade, her jaw locked into a rigid, furious line that screamed, I did not reincarnate into a lace-wearing nightmare to deal with middle-management bullshit today.

“Clear,” she hissed, her throat tight with lethal impatience.

We stepped into the Headmaster’s room: mahogany paneling, holographic monitors humming with low-frequency bass, and the suffocating stench of cheap lavender cologne and old sweat. Sitting behind the desk like a smug, over-promoted turnip was Headmaster Alistair Vance.

He didn't look like a terrified educator. He looked like an accountant who had just discovered a rounding error, his eyes gleaming with sickening, bureaucratic glee.

“I have to admit,” Vance murmured, leisurely lacing his fingers together as a cruel, self-satisfied smirk curled his lips, “when the resonance arrays flared, I expected runaway mana. I didn't expect two rogue elements to dismantle a tactical corridor in four minutes.”

I closed the distance, my heels pounding a sharp, aggressive rhythm against the tile as pure rage thrummed through my veins. The other Tiara drifted left, her body coiled like a strike-ready viper, her ruby eyes blazing with cold, murderous venom as she locked down the crossfire angle.

“You call us elements,” I growled, my hands trembling with the desperate urge to tear his throat out. “We call ourselves survivors of your garbage extermination program.”

Vance sighed, leaning back into his plush leather chair with an agonizingly slow, dismissive wave of his hand, completely blind to the death sentence standing across from him. “It’s not personal, Lady Tiara. When a foreign soul anchors into a native shell, it creates a systemic leak. The Reclamation balances the books.”

“The books?” The other Tiara’s eyes narrowed to lethal slits, her breath catching in a ragged, furious gasp. She looked like she wanted to staple his eyelids to his forehead. “You're slaughtering people because they didn't originate in your stupid little script?”

“We maintain structural integrity.” Vance slammed his palm onto a key, a flash of sadistic triumph breaking across his face. A holographic map erupted between us, bathing the room in pulsing crimson light.

ACTIVE ANOMALIES DETECTED: 42

RECLAIMED: 28

PENDING EXTRACTION: 14

“Forty-two anomalies,” Vance said coldly, his lip curling in bitter disgust. “Merchants, scholars... specialists like you. Do you know what an unmanaged variable does to a timeline? Entire kingdoms fall because a displaced accountant remembers modern economics, or a reincarnated soldier invents gunpowder early.”

“So you built a glorified abattoir,” I hissed, my chest heaving as silver light crackled hot and chaotic over my fingers, warping space in a dangerous, unstable wave. “And set a crystal trap to lure us in.”

“Efficient,” Vance smiled, his chest puffing up with repulsive pride as his teeth caught the red glow. “And you walked right into it.”

He smashed his fist onto a hidden panel on his desk with a heavy THUD.

Click.

The floor beneath our feet dropped away, sending a jolt of primal horror straight into my gut as the sudden lurch plunged us headfirst into the pitch-black void of the sub-level before we could even blink.
