The forest became silent.

Aiden Valen immediately stopped moving.

The small sounds that always filled the Forbidden Forest disappeared.Full novel: The Banished Hero: Authority of Nothingness — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

No insects.

No birds.

No movement from the smaller monsters hiding in the shadows.

Only silence.

Aiden slowly placed his hand on his sword.

Something was wrong.

During his time inside the forest, he had learned one important rule.

The stronger the monster…

The quieter the forest became.

The river continued flowing beside him, but even the sound of water felt distant.

Aiden looked into the darkness between the trees.

“Come out.”

His voice was calm.

But his body was ready.

For several seconds, nothing happened.

Then—

BOOM!

The ground shook.

A massive tree fell somewhere in the distance.

Aiden’s eyes narrowed.

A shadow moved between the ancient trees.

At first, he only saw two golden eyes.

Then the creature stepped forward.

A giant monster appeared.

Its body was covered with dark blue scales.

Four powerful legs carried its enormous body.

Sharp claws dug into the ground.

Two curved horns extended from its head.

It looked like a dragon, but smaller.

Aiden had never seen anything like it.

The monster looked at him.

Not like prey.

Like an enemy.

Aiden immediately activated his new skill.

**Target Information Loading…**

For a moment, nothing appeared.

Then the information finally displayed.

**Name: River Guardian Wyvern**

**Level: 48**

**Rank: High Monster**

**Danger Level: Extremely High**

**Abilities:**

* Water Manipulation

* Scale Defense

* Enhanced Strength

* High-Speed Movement

**Weakness: Unknown**

**Warning: Enemy level greatly exceeds user level**

Aiden’s expression became serious.

Level 48.

His own level was only around 20.

The difference was enormous.

“This is the strongest monster I’ve seen.”

The wyvern opened its mouth.

A powerful roar shook the forest.

Aiden felt pressure from the sound alone.

But he did not run.

Not because he was confident.

Because he understood something.

This monster was blocking the river.

And the river was his only path forward.

If he wanted to leave the forest…

He had to pass through here.

The wyvern moved first.

Aiden barely saw it.

The massive creature disappeared.

Too fast.

His instincts reacted.

He jumped backward.

A giant claw struck the ground where he had been standing. This story is hosted at g.com.

BOOM!

The earth cracked.

Aiden landed several meters away.

His heart was beating faster.

“That speed…”

He could not let himself get hit.

One attack could end the battle immediately.

The wyvern swung its tail.

Aiden rolled under it.

The wind pressure alone pushed him across the ground.

He immediately created distance.

Nothingness gathered around his hand.

He knew he could not defeat this monster through normal attacks.

He needed to erase it.

Aiden rushed forward.

The wyvern watched him approach.

It did not understand why a weak human was charging toward it.

Aiden jumped.

His hand moved toward the monster’s body.

But before he could touch it—

The wyvern released a wave of water.

The attack exploded around its body.

Aiden was thrown away.

He crashed into the ground.

Pain spread through his body.

He quickly stood up.

The Analysis Eye displayed information.

**Ability Activated: Water Barrier**

**Scale Defense strengthened**

Aiden stared.

“So it protects itself whenever I try to attack…”

The wyvern was not just strong.

It was intelligent.

It understood his ability.

Aiden wiped the blood from his mouth.

This was different from every battle before.

Against weaker monsters, he could rely on Nothingness.

But against this creature…

He needed to think.

The battle continued.

The wyvern attacked with water blades.

Aiden dodged through the forest.

Trees were destroyed behind him.

The river itself began rising from the monster’s power.

Aiden searched for an opening.

A weakness.

Something.

Then he noticed something.

Every time the wyvern used Water Manipulation…

The scales around its neck changed.

A small delay.

A moment of weakness.

The Analysis Eye updated.

**Possible Weakness Found**

**Neck area: Reduced defense during ability activation**

Aiden’s eyes sharpened.

“There.”

The wyvern attacked again.

Aiden did not move away.

He moved closer.

The monster opened its mouth.

A massive wave of water formed.

The attack was coming.

Aiden waited.

Three seconds.

Two seconds.

One.

Now.

He jumped.

Aiden landed on the wyvern’s back.

The monster immediately tried to throw him away.

But Aiden held on.

His hands were bleeding.

His body was exhausted.

But he refused to let go.

He reached the neck.

The wyvern noticed.

It became furious.

The scales around its body shined.

The defense activated.

Aiden placed his right hand on the monster.

“Nothingness.”

The black energy appeared.

The wyvern’s scales resisted.

The ability slowed.

Aiden gritted his teeth.

The difference in power was too large.

His arm trembled.

His vision blurred.

But he remembered everything.

The kingdom calling him useless.

The teleportation circle.

Being thrown into the forest.

The first monster that almost killed him.

The lonely nights.

He survived all of it.

He would not lose now.

“Disappear.”

The black energy grew stronger.

The wyvern roared.

The ground shook.

But slowly…

The monster’s body began fading.

The scales disappeared.

The horns disappeared.

The roar became weaker.

Until finally…

The River Guardian Wyvern vanished completely.

Aiden fell onto the ground.

He could not move.

For several minutes, he only stared at the sky.

Then messages appeared.

**[High Monster Defeated]**

**[Experience gained]**

**[Level Increased]**

**[Skill Evolution Detected]**

Aiden slowly opened his status.

A new world was waiting.
