Wen Lin was injured and unable to move much, so Wang Dazhu and the other man carried the noodles into the room to eat with him.

Mu Wanwan placed a small table over Wen Lin’s bed so it would be easier for him to eat.

The steaming noodles, paired with milky-white broth, looked instantly appetizing.Full novel: The Beautiful Ex-Wife Is Too Alluring; The Cold-Faced Military Officer Begs for Remarriage — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Wen Lin picked up a mouthful and put it into his mouth. The noodles were springy and smooth, the broth rich and fragrant. His appetite immediately improved.

Wang Dazhu and the other man ate with even more enthusiasm. The three grown men finished their bowls in just a few bites.

Fortunately, Mu Wanwan had cooked extra and refilled their bowls.

“Sister-in-law, your cooking is amazing! I think it’s even better than the state-run restaurant outside.”

“Exactly! Commander, you’re truly blessed to have such a beautiful and capable wife!”

The two men were genuinely envious. Neither of them was married yet. If they could find a wife like this, it would be like incense offerings from a past life paying off.

Mu Wanwan felt a little embarrassed by the praise, though inwardly pleased.

Before they left, she packed some braised meat for them to take home.

The rich aroma nearly had them dizzy with happiness. When they left, their grins stretched from ear to ear.

This trip had definitely been worth it. Once they got back, they would tell everyone in the unit just how wonderful their commander’s wife was.

After seeing them off, Mu Wanwan went back to Wen Lin’s bedroom.

“I’m going to bed soon. If you need anything tonight, call me.”

With his injuries, he would need help even walking. If he needed the bathroom in the middle of the night, he couldn’t manage alone.

They weren’t divorced yet. She still had a responsibility to care for him—especially since he had been injured on duty.

“Mm. Thank you,” Wen Lin replied.

She said nothing more. After showering, she went to sleep in the guest room.

She had been busy these past few days, so she slept deeply, not waking until after nine the next morning.

After washing up, she knocked on the master bedroom door. When she entered, she realized Wen Lin was still asleep.

She stepped closer and immediately noticed something was wrong.

His face was flushed. Was he running a fever?

She quickly touched his forehead. Sure enough—he was burning up.

Looking at his bandages, she saw faint blood seeping through around his waist and leg. The stitched wounds must have been strained.

He had been fine last night—had he gotten out of bed?

Frowning, she knew she couldn’t let him keep burning like this. She remembered the medicine Wang Dazhu had brought.

First, she needed to check his wounds.

Mu Wanwan quickly unbuttoned his shirt. His muscular upper body was instantly revealed.

Broad shoulders, narrow waist. Firm chest muscles, defined abs, clear lines along his torso. Two scars across his chest added a wild, untamed edge.

Her face grew warm despite herself.

No matter what, Wen Lin’s physique was undeniably impressive. It almost made her want to touch it.

She glanced at him secretly. He had a fever—he probably wouldn’t even know if she touched him. So what if she did?

In her previous life, they had been married for three years but always slept in separate rooms. She had never had this kind of contact with him. A few touches now could count as compensation for her past self.

She reached out and poked his chest muscles. They weren’t as hard as she’d imagined.

Lower down, his abs felt like a washboard—solid, defined. The texture wasn’t bad at all.

“Enjoying yourself?”

A hoarse voice suddenly sounded.

Startled, she looked up to find Wen Lin awake, staring at her.

She immediately pulled her hand back, feeling inexplicably guilty.

“Don’t misunderstand! I saw you had a fever and wanted to check if your wound reopened.”

“Is that so?” Wen Lin clearly didn’t believe her.

He had been semi-conscious the whole time. He knew she was checking his wounds.

But he hadn’t expected her to touch him like that.

Her hands were soft, cool. His body had tensed instantly, a strange itch spreading through him.

When her hand had trailed downward, he’d felt he might lose control if he didn’t open his eyes.

Mu Wanwan avoided his gaze and changed the subject. “Did you get out of bed last night?”

“Mm.”

He had gone to the bathroom.

He’d tried calling her, but after a couple of attempts, she hadn’t woken up.

Truthfully, he had felt awkward needing help just to use the bathroom. So he gritted his teeth and went himself.

Not long after returning, the fever had set in.

Mu Wanwan unwrapped the bandage around his waist.

Only now did she see how long the wound was.

A ten-centimeter knife gash stretched across his side. It wasn’t shallow, and fresh blood still seeped out.

Her brows knitted together. After careful inspection, she confirmed the stitches hadn’t split—he had likely just strained it. Thankfully, it wasn’t severe, or he would’ve needed to return to the hospital.

She reapplied medicine and rewrapped the bandage.

Then she reached for his trousers.

Wen Lin’s ears instantly reddened.

“The wound on my thigh is fine. You don’t need to check it.”

The injury on his thigh was in a more private area. Though they were married, they had never been intimate. He felt slightly embarrassed.

“It’s already bleeding—how could it be fine? You’re running a fever. If it’s not treated properly, it could get infected.”

Her tone was firm.

This time, he didn’t stop her.

She pulled down his trousers and saw the wound on the inner thigh. Her face flushed slightly.

Even though she deliberately avoided looking elsewhere, it was impossible not to notice.

It was… rather impressive.

She quickly lowered her head and focused on treating the wound. Thankfully, the stitches hadn’t split here either. She applied the medicine carefully, trying not to touch anywhere inappropriate.

But while wrapping the bandage, her hand accidentally brushed against a certain sensitive area.

Wen Lin’s lower abdomen tightened instantly, his body reacting before he could stop it.

His blood seemed to boil. Heat surged through him—whether from embarrassment or stimulation, even he couldn’t tell.

As for Mu Wanwan, she was equally flustered. She hurriedly finished wrapping the bandage and rushed out of the bedroom, her retreating figure looking very much like she was fleeing.
