Wen Lin’s entire body stiffened instantly.
Carefully, he shifted his leg slightly to the side—but Mu Wanwan promptly draped her leg back over him and inched closer.
A soft warmth pressed against his arm, making that spot feel as if it were on fire.
Her long, smooth leg lay across his, her upper body pressed tightly against him, one arm even resting on his chest.
He turned his head to glance at Mu Wanwan, who was sleeping soundly, and felt a flicker of speechless frustration.
“So big… steamed buns…”
She suddenly mumbled in her sleep, her hand on his chest squeezing twice absentmindedly.
Wen Lin didn’t know whether to laugh or get angry.
She was hugging him so tightly he couldn’t even push her away.
The drowsiness he had finally managed to summon vanished completely. He could only lie there stiffly.
The temperature in the room seemed to keep rising. Her scent drifted continuously into his nose.
His blood felt as though it were heating up along with it. Sweat dampened his clothes.
He endured it until the sky began to lighten before he finally managed to fall asleep.
The next morning, Mu Wanwan woke naturally.
Instinctively, she stretched her arms—only to bump into something solid.
Then she heard an irritated shout.
“Mu Wanwan!”
Wen Lin was covering his nose. When she had jerked her arm just now, she had elbowed him so hard his eyes nearly watered.
Only then did Mu Wanwan realize how close they were.
She was practically draped over half his body, one leg wedged between his, their posture undeniably intimate.
She immediately scrambled away.
What happened? They had clearly been sleeping far apart before bed.
Judging by the situation, she must have rolled over in her sleep. She had always slept restlessly; once deeply asleep, she had no control.
Scratching her head awkwardly, she asked softly, “Sorry… I didn’t mean to just now. Is your nose okay?”
Wen Lin rubbed it. Sleeping beside her was honestly exhausting.
“It’s fine. Just… try to be careful tonight.”
He had no desire to spend another sleepless, overheated night.
“Don’t worry, I won’t do that again!”
She hurried to promise.
After getting out of bed, she hesitated before asking, “Um… do you need to use the bathroom? If so, I’ll call Grandpa to help you.”
The question made Wen Lin uncomfortable—but he did need to go. He nodded as calmly as he could manage.
Mu Wanwan went to the guest room to call Grandpa, only to find him gone. Out for a morning walk, perhaps?
Then what about Wen Lin?
Forget it. She’d help him. Nature’s calls couldn’t be ignored.
“If Grandpa’s not here, forget it. I can wait,” Wen Lin said quickly. If anyone else could help, he’d rather endure a little longer than let Mu Wanwan assist him.
Mu Wanwan frowned. “You’re a grown man. What’s there to be embarrassed about? Holding it too long isn’t good for your health.”
As she spoke, her gaze flicked briefly downward.
Wen Lin, sharp as ever, caught the look. Even though she said nothing outright, he could guess her implication.
Grinding his teeth, he swiftly sat up.
She stepped forward, supporting his arm and guiding it over her shoulder.
He was heavy—even without leaning his full weight on her. Mu Wanwan soon found herself nearly out of breath. What on earth had he grown up eating?
The short walk from bedroom to bathroom left her panting.
Wen Lin glanced down at the person supporting him. Her cheeks were flushed red—unexpectedly adorable.
His gaze drifted lower unintentionally, catching a glimpse of pale skin at her collar.
He immediately looked away, forcing himself not to lower his eyes again.
After guiding him inside, she stepped out. Moments later, the sound from within made her face heat up in embarrassment.
When he came out after washing his hands, he looked equally awkward.
She exerted herself again to help him back toward the bed.
Just as she was about to settle him down, her shoe suddenly slipped.
She pitched forward—
Wen Lin’s first instinct was to catch her.
They landed on the bed, her on top of him.
Her body pressed fully into his. His waist wound was jostled, and he hissed in pain.
Her toes struck the bed frame, making her eyes redden instantly.
Why was she so unlucky? How could she fall on flat ground?
Wen Lin stared at the woman lying against him.
Her almond-shaped eyes were slightly moist, rims flushed red—like a wronged little kitten. Her small nose made her features even more delicate.
From this close, he noticed her skin was flawless, almost like fine jade.
More dangerously, her curves pressed against him once again.
She was slender—but curved where it mattered.
His Adam’s apple bobbed twice. Something inside him trembled faintly.
“Wanwan, what’s for breakfast—oh… I see you two are busy. I didn’t see anything. Carry on!”
Grandpa had returned from his walk, assuming Mu Wanwan was in the kitchen.
Instead, he found the two of them embracing on the bed.
Understanding dawned instantly. He turned and retreated to his room, humming cheerfully.
Young people just needed more time together! See? After just one night sharing a bed, sparks were already flying.
If they lived together a little longer, wouldn’t he soon have a great-grandchild?
The image delighted him—he could almost see a chubby baby waving at him.
Back in the master bedroom, the two quickly separated.
Mu Wanwan stood up first. “Is your injury okay?”
“It’s fine.”
Wen Lin’s ears felt warm. He didn’t dare look at her.
“If you’re fine, I’ll go make breakfast!”
She turned and hurried out, though her heart was still racing.
She forced herself to calm down.
Wen Lin was poison.
She absolutely couldn’t allow herself to develop feelings for him again—otherwise she might repeat the tragedy of her previous life.
The lesson from that life had been painful enough.
She would not be fooled by this man’s outward charm ever again.
