PRESENT TIME
It’s been two days since the interview at Nanchun press, and two days since she met him; the man who took away her life.
The man who has managed to fool the whole world with the help of his good looks, intelligence, and his supposedly good character and reputation.
Feng Tian smiled sadly as she stared at the jewelry box on the table before her, softly sighing before proceeding to slide it open.
Inside the box laid two exquiste sliver hourglass necklaces, each designed in a simple but unique way.
While one contained a radiant pearl, the other held shimmering luminescent sand.
As Feng Tian delicately selected one of the necklaces, her fingers trembling with emotion, she couldn’t help but get lost in the cherished memories of the past.
She recalled the day her grandmother had lovingly gifted her and Feng Lin these necklaces, she had remembered both her and Feng Lin promising to never part with them until the end of their days.
A vow that had been inadvertently broken when Feng Lin had accidentally dropped her necklace as she angrily barged into Wang Hai’s office the night she died.

Startled, her pulse quickened, and her eyes widened as she slowly turned to face her unexpected visitor.
Before her stood a man with a grin that could rival the Cheshire Cat’s.
Feng Tian’s breath caught in her throat.
“Charlie, you scared me,” she breathed, a mixture of relief and reproach in her voice.
“Hi, cupcake.” Charlie smirked before pulling off his face cap,
“Hey, I told you to stop calling me cupcake, I’m older than you, and what are you doing here anyway, why the hell are you sneaking around like a god-damn thief?” Feng Tian yelled before shrugging off his hand that was placed on her shoulder,
“Sure, right.” Feng Tian muttered, her voice laced with sarcasm,
“Seriously, and because I skipped practice, I don’t know what’s wrong with that new manager, Du, or whatever his name is, he has been forcing me to practice this stealth mode for the sci-fi movie non-stop for the past two days, I’m tired, I need a break.” Charlie grumbled before collapsing on the nearest couch,
“And the right place to crash is the house of the CEO of your agency.”
“Come on, I can’t even come here again, don’t tell me it’s because of that detective guy.”
“He’s going to become your brother-in-law one day if I’m still alive, and how did you even know about him?” Feng Tian asked,
“Well, apart from seeing him at the party, he’s pretty popular these days, people at the agency and the company have been talking about the handsome detective guy who has been hanging around the CEO lately.” Charlie said.
“But I must say not bad, cupcake, I admit he’s attractive, although not has as attractive as me but… he’s still okay.”
“Sorry to burst your bubble, but he’s more handsome than you, and I’m going out soon, so get out before I drag your lazy ass back to the agency myself.” Feng yelled as she made her way into her room,
“Oh, come on! Please.”
Charlie pouted as he continues to follow her, only stopping when she suddenly smack the door in his face.
Charlie smiled as he returned to the sitting room, he could not believe Feng Tian was actually planning to settle down with someone, after all that she has been put through by men.
Most of the men she had met in her life were men labeled after Lucifer himself, the one she had a crush on turned out to be a pretentious snake in disguise whose friend turned out to be even worse, he assaulted her, almost killed her, murdered her family and killed his wife and unborn child just so he could cover his crimes.
It’s been three years since the day he met her, and her ability to amaze him was something he would never be able to comprehend.
“Come on, get up, I’ve called Ah Bao to drive you back to your apartment.” Feng Tian said as she stepped out of her room,
“Oh! Cupcake, you are wearing your necklace again?” Charlie pointed out in surprise as he reluctantly stood from the couch, quickly putting on his nose mask and face cap before following her out of the apartment.
“By the way, where are you going?”
“To the police station.”
“What! To the police station, in this outfit, are you planning to kill the officers or what?” Charlie mumbled in his nose mask as he scanned her outfit,
“Shut up and get inside the car.” Feng Tian ordered, slightly waving to Ah Bao who raise his hand in salute before heading towards her car and driving off.
Feng Tian had decided to pay the police station a surprise visit because she hasn’t seen Qi Yan since the night of the kiss.
She would have believed he was avoiding her had it mean he didn’t call to ask for leave not before he had made sure she was going to be safe, and since she was feeling particularly stressed due to work, she could not think of a better way to possibly lift her spirit than paying him a surprise visit.
As soon as Feng Tian’s car pulled up outside the police station, she stepped out in style.
Dressed elegantly, her attire designed to draw attention, and her sunglasses added an air of mystery.
The onlookers couldn’t help but be taken aback by her glamorous presence.
She was sure that most of them were probably wondering about what crime could someone like her possibly commit to come to the station.
The police officers, hard at work, were the first to spot her entrance.

“Detective Zhou, nice to meet you again.”
“Y-you remember me? Oh my God, guys, Miss Feng is here.” Zhou Yishan yelled.
Immediately, they all turn their attention to her, Feng Tian smirked as she slowly examines their expression, Xiaorui’s expression was unreadable, it was a combination of shock and something else she didn’t have a name for, but both Gu Jinyan and Zhai Liang’s expressions were of surprise and curiosity, while Qiao Yuxi attempts to hide her distaste was failing miserably.
Feng Tian’s presence had an almost magical quality to it.
She captured the attention of everyone in the room, even those who were initially uninterested.
Her every move seemed to draw people in, a fact that didn’t escape her notice.
Feng Tian was about to make her way towards Yuxi but just as she was about to do, she spotted Qi Yan, immediately she beamed and removed her sunglasses, not even waiting for him to speak, she slowly walks towards him and placed a kiss on his cheek, much to everyone’s surprise.
“Wow! Miss Feng is really a special being, she never fails to create a scene whenever she visits our station.” Zhai Liang muttered to the shocked Yishan who nodded slowly in agreement.
It wasn’t long before the police chief himself made an appearance.
In a rush to greet Feng Tian, he nearly tripped.
“Miss Fe…”
The chief who was about to speak immediately stops with his mouth hanging in the air on seeing the scene.
Awkwardly clearing his throat, Qi Yan immediately snapped out of his trance as he felt his heart skip a bit, he could not help but wonder where the Qi Yan who had confidently kissed her the other night was, ‘it must have been the drink’ he thought.
“Eh, Miss Feng what brings you to our station without notice?”
“Well nothing much, it just that I heard that the guys have been working pretty late these days, so I volunteered to take them out to relax, that’s not a problem right chief?”

“Great!” Feng Tian said with a smile as she notice the excited look on the guys face, immediately turning towards their team leader for permission, Xiaorui and Zhou Yishan clasped their hands together in prayer while waiting for Gu Jinyan to speak;
“You guys can go.” Gu Jinyan chuckled on seeing the hilarious expression on their faces.
“Yesss! Yuxi, you coming.”
“No, you guys go without me.” Yuxi said.
“Ok, officers, let’s go.”
