Palm Beach International Equestrian Center wasn’t just a sports arena.

It was a gladiator ring for people with too much money and not enough fear.

From inside the black Caldwell Equestrian trailer cab, Alesya stared out through the dark-tinted glass.Full novel: THE BILLIONAIRE’S FORBIDDEN JUMP — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The view ahead looked like a glittering fever dream.

Rows of white VIP tent pavilions with teak wood flooring stretched along the main arena perimeter.

Private helicopters landed on the grass helipad every few minutes, kicking up golden dust and jet fuel fumes into the humid ocean air.

Women in summer silk gowns and designer sunglasses sipped Dom Pérignon velvet sofas, while men in linen suits whispered about stocks, federal politics, and horses worth more than private islands.

This was a place where egos were rewarded with gold medals, and failure was thrown away like trash.

A world one hundred and eighty degrees apart from her little clinic in Ocala or her late father’s dusty coffee plantation in Bogotá.

Alesya tightened her grip on her medical bag in her lap.

She wore an olive cotton silk blouse, tailored black jodhpurs, and polished dark brown leather boots.

She looked professional.

Poised.

But beneath her chest, her heart hammered like a war drum.

The trailer door swung open from the outside.

Blinding Florida midday sunlight flooded the cabin instantly.

Revan stood at the bottom of the steps.

He had transformed completely into the Dark Rider the figure both revered and feared across the international equestrian circuit.

His black competition shirt with its standing collar fit his broad chest and shoulders perfectly without a single wrinkle.

Crisp white riding breeches clung to his powerful, athletic thighs, and knee-high Italian leather boots gleamed under the bright sun.

His black hair was combed sleekly back, highlighting his sharp, cold jawline and eyes the color of liquid steel.

He radiated such pure, unyielding authority that people walking across the parking lot automatically stepped aside to let him pass.

Revan held out his right hand toward her.

It wasn’t the polite gesture of a gentleman.

It was a silent command.

Alesya looked at his broad, knuckled palm.

Her heart skipped.

She placed her hand in his.

His warm, slightly rough fingers closed firmly around hers.

A strong grip.

Possessive.

He helped her down the steps in one smooth, easy motion but he didn’t let go once her boots hit the ground.

Revan pulled her half a step closer.

Expensive bergamot, polished leather, and burning masculine heat wrapped around her instantly, drowning out the salt air of Palm Beach.

“Remember our rules, Dr.

Vargas,” he murmured, low and rough right beside her ear.

His gray eyes swept over her face with an intensity that made the back of her neck prickle hot.

“Stay at my side.

Don’t speak to any reporters.

And never step away from the arena, no matter what happens.”

Alesya lifted her chin, meeting his gaze unflinching.

“I know how to do my job, Caldwell.

Let go before your fiancée sees and we have a scandal right in front of the sponsors.”

The corner of Revan’s mouth twitched into a cynical smirk.

Instead of releasing her, his thumb brushed the back of her hand in one burning second before he let go slowly.

“Victoria’s in the VIP tent with her father,” he said coolly.

“And she’s the least of your worries today.”

“Well, well.

The hottest couple of the season finally arrives on the battlefield.”

A familiar, cheerful voice cut through the tension between them.

Declan Ashford strolled over from the staging barn aisle.

The blond man wore a white polo emblazoned with his family’s sponsor logo and sunglasses perched on his straight nose.

He grinned broadly, looking back and forth between Revan and Alesya with undisguised amusement.

“The entire VIP grandstand is talking about your arrival, Rev,” Declan said, clapping Revan on the shoulder.

“Rumors about that wild practice session back at Blackstone have already reached the judges’ panel.”

He turned his gaze to Alesya, then gave a slight, elegant nod like a rogue nobleman.

“Dr.

Vargas.

You look stunning.

That olive blouse makes your brown eyes look like poisoned honey.”

“Declan.” Revan’s voice dropped to a low growl, thick with deadly warning.

Declan laughed easily, holding up both hands.

“Just aesthetic appreciation, mate.

Don’t get so stiff before qualifying even starts.”

Alesya offered a faint smile.

“Thank you, Mr.

Ashford.

But we have a twelve-hundred-pound horse to unload right now.”

Declan winked at her.

“A woman who stays focused on the job.

Rare around here.”

Revan didn’t reply.

His jaw clenched so hard the muscle at his temple pulsed.

He walked straight past Declan toward the trailer’s hydraulic rear ramp, cutting off the interaction with cold arrogance.

The back ramp lowered slowly, iron groaning as it descended to the concrete staging tunnel.

It was a semi-open passageway connecting the quarantine stalls to the warm-up arena.

But this afternoon, it was pure chaos.

The roar of massive stadium speakers boomed from the main arena, echoing off the concrete walls.

Giant LED screens blazed at the far end, flashing sponsor logos in rapid, strobing light.

Dozens of photographers and media staff moved back and forth, long lenses catching every flash.

The moment Phantom’s front hooves touched the metal ramp…

CLANG!

The black stallion snapped.

The deafening noise and flashing lights triggered every alarm in his traumatized brain.

He reared back violently, head thrown high with a piercing whinny that cut straight through the tunnel’s racket.

His dark eyes rolled white with pure panic, his neck muscles hard as granite, and his massive body spun wildly on the narrow ramp nearly knocking over the two grooms holding his lead rope.

“Phantom, whoa!” Javi shouted frantically from the top of the ramp, fighting to hold him.

The stallion snorted, striking the metal trailer wall with a hind hoof.

BAM!

The impact shook the entire tunnel.

Several photographers at the far end instantly raised their cameras, long lenses zeroing in on the billionaire’s humiliating struggle with cruel, hungry anticipation.

“Pull his left side!” one arena staffer yelled.

“Don’t pull!” Alesya’s voice cut through the chaos.

She moved faster than thought.

Ignoring the deadly danger of those iron-shod hooves, Alesya stepped into the narrow, dangerous space between the ramp and the tunnel wall.

Revan moved at the exact same second.

He lunged forward, his left hand snatching Phantom’s lead rope right under the horse’s jaw.

SNAP.

Revan’s left shoulder jerked hard, taking the full force of the panicked horse’s pull.

He flinched, face paling for a heartbeat but his grip didn’t loosen.

He was dragged backward, slamming hard into the concrete wall right beside Alesya.

They were trapped.

Boxed in less than three feet of space between a raging thousand-pound stallion and cold concrete.

Alesya didn’t hesitate for a single second.

She pressed her entire front side against Revan’s right side to brace him.

Her left hand flattened against his broad chest, feeling his heart hammering wild beneath his sweat-damp competition shirt.

At the same time, she reached up with her right hand, her bare, warm fingers closing gently around Phantom’s muzzle.

All three of them locked together in a chaotic, dangerous intimacy.

Revan’s thigh pressed hard against hers, caging her between his powerful legs and the wall.

His scent sweat, adrenaline, and warm, ragged breathing mingled with her lavender perfume in the hot, stale air.

“Shh… Mírame, mi rey,” she whispered right beside the horse’s eye.

Her voice didn’t shake.

Low, steady, hypnotic—cutting straight through the deafening noise of Palm Beach.

She pressed her forehead to the stallion’s cheek.

Her hand against Revan’s chest set a slow, deep rhythm.

In.

Out.

“I’m here, Phantom,” she murmured, soft and clear over the roar.

“No fire.

No pain.

Just us.”

The neurological miracle happened again, right before everyone’s eyes.

The rigid muscles along Phantom’s neck softened.

The wild pulse at his jaw slowed, drinking in the absolute calm radiating from the woman pressed against him.

He blew a long, warm breath right into the crook of her neck.

His massive head drooped, resting half its weight against her shoulder and Revan’s chest.

Quiet.

Completely surrendered.

Silence fell over the staging tunnel.

Photographers and staff stood frozen, staring at the impossible scene with their mouths hanging open.

But back in that narrow concrete alcove… Revan and Alesya didn’t move.
