“Ben Tennyson! Thank you for the help!” A red humanoid alien—in a white bulky space suit—said to Ben with a broad smile.

“Ahaha…” Ben laughed awkwardly as he scratched his cheek, turning to look at the Rust Bucket III.

“I really didn’t help much…”

“Then I’ll see you later, Ben!” The alien patted Ben on his shoulder, then left with the Plumbers and the cuffed, dazed Morgoth.

“Impossible… impossible…” Morgoth kept muttering the same words as he was led to the Plumbers’ ship.

***

A sleek green and black striped ship flew through the vacuum of space.

In the cockpit, Kevin drove the Rust Bucket III, Gwen read through a magic book, Ben kept scrolling through the holographic projector, and Superboy leaned on the ship’s metallic walls, staring outside in silence.

I need to be holding back a little from now on, he thought, the battle with Morgoth flashing through his mind.

The damage they had caused during the battle—if it were on Earth, human lives and properties would have been lost.

Except it’s in a desolate place.

“Hey, Kevin!” Ben called out to Kevin as he took his gaze from the holographic alien.

“Didn’t you say it would take a week? It’s been two days since we left,” he said with a teasing smirk.

Kevin, in the pilot seat, rolled his eyes.

“Breaking the tachyon shield wasn’t meant for one day! I completely forgot about your Chromastone, and besides, do you think if we were to fight those aliens, we would blitz through them like Superboy?!”

“Like Superboy?” Ben rolled his eyes.

“Come on, Kevin, give my aliens some credit. They’re plenty strong.”

“Mhm, can you defeat Morgoth?” Gwen chimed in from the side.

“Uhh…” Ben’s lips twitched.

Defeat Morgoth?

The only alien he felt could contend against him was Humungousaur.

Unfortunately, Humungousaur couldn’t breathe in space.

Two days later.

Under the dark sky, a damaged Rust Bucket III wobbled as it landed.

The door of the spaceship opened, and the team of four stepped out. Visit g.com for the full chapter.

“Fuck those space burglars!” Kevin said as he kicked the Rust Bucket III in anger.

“At least we brought them to justice, right?” Ben said, looking at Kevin with a smile.

Kevin’s lips twitched as he pointed at the Rust Bucket III.

“After this?!”

Superboy chuckled at their banter, then looked up at the night sky.

“I should get going,” he said as he slowly levitated up.

Just as he was about to leave, he turned.

“If you guys have missions like this, you can call me.”

Boom!

A fierce wind erupted behind him as he flew into the sky.

Kevin stared at the sky, then turned to Ben.

“Hey, have you ever tried copying his DNA?”

“Huh?” Ben’s lips twitched.

“What do you mean? The Omnitrix only copies alien DNAs!”

“Just saying,” Kevin said with a shrug.

The thought had come to him after seeing Morgoth use the same abilities as Superboy—laser eyes, super strength, flight, and super speed.

Ben looked at him, his brows furrowing slightly before he turned to the Omnitrix strapped to his wrist.

“I guess I can try…”

Jack pushed the door of his home open and entered.

“I’m home!” he shouted, closing the door behind him.

Two seconds later, Sasha stepped down from the stairs wearing pajamas with a stern face.

She walked up to him, placed both hands on his hips, and looked up at him with a glare.

“Oh, I thought you forgot you had a home!”

Jack’s face flushed slightly, immediately knowing the reason for his anger.

“I informed you, right?”

“Honestly, I was also informed at the last minute,” Jack said awkwardly, his finger scratching his cheek.

Sasha rolled her eyes and gave him space.

“So, where did you go?”

“We went to see the universities we can choose from with our own eyes,” Jack said.

“…”

Sasha stared at him with scrutiny for a while before she shrugged.

“I thought you’d be going for a week; I didn’t make enough food for two.”

“Don’t worry, I’ve eaten,” Jack said as he walked upstairs.

“Hey, if you have a girlfriend, you can tell me, okay?!” Sasha said from behind him, causing Jack to almost trip.

“I don’t!” he responded and hurried to his room.

After showering and changing into his pajamas, Jack flopped on the bed.

Just as he was about to sleep, his phone chimed.

“Mhm?” Groaning and opening one eye, Jack reached for his phone, only to see that Eve had sent a message to their three-person reading group.

[Eve: I’m sorry for ghosting you guys for days, so I decided to let’s all go out, just the three of us.]

[Eve: There’s a new mall opening downtown.]

Ding!

Before he could reply, Gwen’s text had already appeared in the group.

[Gwen: Sure, I don’t see why not.]

[Eve: Then it’s settled!]

[Eve: I’ll send you guys the location! See you tomorrow!]

Jack stared at the group chat in silence.

Did they just plan an outing for us without my opinion?

If you like Kuroinu—I mean, hate the plot but love the female characters—you can check out my new novel:

Kuroinu: Changing the Plot.

The MC has a Reinhard van Astrea template, and it’s a mix of multiple worlds, like Goblin Slayer and Ochi Monogatari RPG (not sure if I’m right with the name).

Check it out!
