Chapter 23: Going Home

The Capital's Dragon Doctor

Even after being knocked to the ground, Su Linlin still looked utterly defiant.

She showed no fear of Su Guowei's rage, continuing to taunt him, "If you have the guts, then beat me to death! Kill me!"

Su Guowei's clenched fists trembled, but he couldn't bring himself to strike again.

Seeing this, Jiang Yuelian rushed over to hold Su Guowei back. "Don't you dare take your anger out on my daughter!"

"Mom, let's go. We'll find Young Master Wang. I'm sure he can help!"

Su Linlin got up from the floor, took Jiang Yuelian's arm, and started to walk out. Before she left, she shot Su Guowei a disdainful glance.

Su Guowei stood frozen in place, only snapping out of his daze when the door slammed shut with a BANG.

'I... what have I done...'

Su Guowei clutched his forehead and sank to the floor, his face etched with remorse. He was completely overwhelmed by regret, anguish, and pain.

...

Meanwhile, Lin Feng was leading Su Yanxue by the hand. They had decided to walk home instead of taking the car.

After all, Su Guowei had just disowned Su Yanxue. And while both she and Lin Feng knew this was a good thing...

...Su Yanxue was still struggling to come to terms with it. Lin Feng understood her feelings completely.

Besides, the sky was already growing dark. Lin Feng, concerned that something might happen to her at night, decided it was best to walk her home.

As they strolled, Su Yanxue began to tell Lin Feng about her life, from childhood to the present, her voice almost a whisper.

Lin Feng acted as a listener, occasionally adding a few words here and there.

Su Yanxue seemed completely at ease with Lin Feng, so much so that she shared secrets she would normally never tell anyone, without the slightest hesitation.

Lin Feng listened patiently, and when Su Yanxue finally fell silent, he remained silent on the matter.

'This atmosphere is actually quite comfortable,' Lin Feng thought to himself.

Su Yanxue, on the other hand, felt a little embarrassed.

"Thank you for staying with me. Let's head back now."

Su Yanxue looked at Lin Feng, seeming to have recovered some of her spirit. She playfully stuck out her tongue, a mischievous smile gracing her lips.

Lin Feng dotingly ruffled her hair and nodded with a smile.

"Yeah, you should get some rest. Don't worry, I'll take care of everything from now on."

Su Yanxue nodded sweetly at his words.

The two walked hand-in-hand toward the seaside manor, with the driver following slowly behind them in the car.

Everything seemed so perfect and beautiful.

SWISH!

Just as the two were laughing and talking, a cold glint of light suddenly flashed in the darkness, shooting toward Lin Feng at incredible speed!

The abrupt attack made Lin Feng's brow furrow. He instinctively pulled Su Yanxue into a protective embrace and swiftly sidestepped.

The cold glint of metal flew past the bridge of his nose, so close he could feel the chill radiating from the weapon.

"Who's there!"

Lin Feng shouted coldly.

The driver reacted just as quickly, accelerating to position the car between them and the direction of the attack.

This black van had been modified to be bulletproof, strong enough to withstand attacks from ordinary swords and daggers.

Holding Su Yanxue, Lin Feng dodged to one side. His gaze grew increasingly frigid as he stared into the darkness from where the hidden weapon had come.

As he watched, a figure cloaked entirely in black emerged from the night and slowly approached.

The man was so thoroughly covered that his face was hidden, but Lin Feng could see his hands. They were covered in thick calluses and old scars—the hands of a seasoned martial artist.

His eyes were as sharp as a falcon's as he advanced on Lin Feng, one step at a time.

'An assassin?'

Lin Feng raised an eyebrow.

"You should not have offended the Wang Family. This will be the decision you regret most."

The man's cold, deep, and raspy voice emanated from beneath his hood.

Hearing this, Lin Feng's eyebrow twitched. 'So they really are after me.'

In that case, there was no need to rush.

He opened the car door, helped a pale Su Yanxue inside, and shut it firmly.

"Take my wife home, lock the manor gates, and put all the bodyguards on high alert. Don't let anyone in but me!"

"Yes, sir!"

The driver nodded, started the engine, and drove off.

VROOM!

The roar of tires on asphalt filled the air.

The car vanished into the night, going at least 120 kilometers per hour.

Once Su Yanxue was safely away, Lin Feng turned to the man, a slight smile playing on his lips.

"Who on earth gave you the confidence to come and provoke me?"

"You're just a frog in a well. Do you really think I'm not your match?"

Lin Feng's voice was casual, yet it dripped with profound contempt.

A murderous intent flickered in his eyes.

"Arrogant young man."

Hearing Lin Feng's words, the man in black sneered, and a ferocious, murderous aura erupted from his body.

SHING!

A Short Blade flashed with a cold light as it suddenly thrust forward!

This Short Blade was different from a dagger. It was about three inches longer, and its surface was lined with blood grooves. One look was enough to tell that this weapon was made not for wounding, but for killing.

Tearing through the air, it left a silvery streak as it aimed for Lin Feng's chest.

The blade's trajectory was bizarre and unpredictable, leaving almost no trace for the eye to follow. It was completely baffling.

But a playful smirk touched Lin Feng's lips. He took a step back with his right foot and unleashed a whip kick.

THUD!

A muffled grunt broke the silence of the night.

Lin Feng remained rooted to the spot, while the man in black was forced to stumble back three steps!

The force behind Lin Feng's kick was terrifying. The assassin's hand, the one gripping his weapon, was faintly numb from the impact!

'So strong!'

He was inwardly stunned. Lin Feng had forced him back three steps with just a single kick!

"Let's see you take this next one."

Lin Feng grinned mockingly. His figure blurred as he closed the distance in an instant and threw a punch.

WHOOSH!

The punch tore through the air, sending a gust of wind straight for the assassin's throat!

The power behind this punch could not be ignored. If it struck an ordinary person's throat, it would be instantly fatal.

But the man in black was no pushover. He sneered and abruptly retreated.

BAM!

The punch missed, smashing directly into the concrete and leaving a spiderweb of cracks on the surface!

Seeing this, the assassin's pupils contracted. He looked at Lin Feng with even greater caution.

Undiscouraged by the miss, Lin Feng moved like a lithe snake, coiling forward to drive an elbow into the assassin's chest.

SMACK!

The man in black blocked with one hand, but the force of Lin Feng's elbow sent a numbing jolt through his palm, forcing him to stumble back two steps.

His gaze on Lin Feng grew even more grave. This young man's power was extraordinary; he was undoubtedly a master of a hard-style martial art.

'His skills are greater than mine, not less!'

"Heh, is this the extent of the Wang Family's power?"

Lin Feng rolled his shoulders, his gaze on the assassin turning glacial.

"Insolent brat! I just let you have two free moves. Did you really think I'm not your opponent?"

As the man in black finished speaking, his eyes turned utterly sinister. With a sudden dash, he lunged at Lin Feng again!
