“Holy shit, Yan Ge, you have no sense of restraint when you hit someone.” Zhang Qile’s voice was exaggerated. “What if you break them? You gonna take responsibility?”
Huo Yan’s eyes were cold and weary, his sharp lips quirking slightly. “Sure, I’ll take responsibility. Wanna test it?”
Zhang Qile put on a coy expression. “So mean.”
Huo Yan lazily lifted his eyelids without responding, his gaze falling on the young girl beside him.
Sang Yu lowered her head, her profile appearing shy, but the corners of her lips curved upward almost imperceptibly.
Not very good at holding back, huh.
What surprised her, though, was that Huo Yan seemed relatively normal during this period.
Then again, this was only her first year at Huaqing University. There were still three years until the future Huo Yan would treat her like a canary, locking her in that gilded cage he personally crafted, pressing her down day and night in his madness.
In her previous life, she genuinely couldn’t handle it.
Huo Yan was too insane. There were many times she wondered if they might both end up dying inside that gilded cage.
Moreover, in the latter part of her previous life, Huo Yan’s health suddenly deteriorated drastically. She even suspected it might have been because he’d been too ruthless.
This time, Sang Yu thought, she still had three years.
They would be desk mates for several more years—surely there was still a chance to properly train him, to make him less crazy… right?
Zhang Qile got a nosebleed from Huo Yan’s hit and was helped to the restroom by his desk mate.
Only Sang Yu and Huo Yan remained in the back row.
Sang Yu opened her new textbook and neatly wrote her name inside.
“Heh.” A soft, mocking laugh sounded by her ear.
Sang Yu paused, her pen tip stilling as she looked over curiously, her expression gentle and innocent. “Were you laughing?”
Huo Yan lazily lifted his eyes to glance at her, his handsome, sharp features and superior jawline accentuated by a raised eyebrow as he silently watched her without speaking.
Sang Yu stared at him, and suddenly her face flushed bright red.
Huo Yan: “…”
It was the first time Huo Yan had seen a young girl who could act so well.
Earlier, at the front podium, her gaze had clearly been hook-like, full of allure.
Yet in front of everyone, she pretended to be all sweet and obedient, to the point that even Zhang Qile was fooled.
And now she was acting all innocent in front of him? Even blushing so intensely in an instant?
Anyone who didn’t know better would think he’d done something to her.
Sang Yu’s blush wasn’t entirely fake, though—it was mainly because Huo Yan’s gaze just now felt all too familiar…
In her past life, every time he was about to torment her, he would look at her with that exact expression…
“Damn!” Zhang Qile returned from outside and, the moment he sat down, saw Sang Yu flushed from her ears to her neck, with Huo Yan looking cold and weary beside her. He blurted out without thinking,
“Yan Ge, what did you do to our little classmate?”
“In broad daylight, and fucking in the classroom no less! Are you an animal?!”
Zhang Qile had always been one to exaggerate.
His words immediately drew the attention of many nearby classmates.
And just then, Sang Yu’s face turned even redder…
In an instant, the exchanging glances among the students conveyed understanding, though no one dared to speak up since it involved Huo Yan.
Zhang Qile turned to comfort Sang Yu. “Little classmate, don’t worry. Whatever Yan Ge did to you, you can tell me. I’ll fight with my life to stand up for you.”
Huo Yan also found it curious, his gaze lingering on the girl beside him.
Sang Yu kept her head lowered without speaking. Her white cat-print T-shirt slipped slightly with her movement, revealing a long, fair neck. Against her cold, pale skin, a soft pink flush spread—she truly looked as if she had been thoroughly bullied by the man.
Fuck.
Huo Yan pressed his tongue against his back teeth, cursing under his breath. His gaze shifted from the girl’s neck to Zhang Qile, a flicker of irritation passing through his eyes.
“What the hell are you imagining? Your brain is filled with nothing but dirty thoughts every day.”
