Pandora was about to send the Great Rabbit to execute her plan—
Only to pause.
She turned, eyes flickering toward Satella, and immediately noticed it.
The hunger.
That same, horrific, endless hunger that came in waves, crawling under the surface, just waiting for the right moment to consume everything.
Pandora sighed.
This was troublesome.
If left unchecked, Satella's cravings would drive her to devour something worse.
Like people.
And that would be inconvenient.
So she decided to let the Great Rabbit's lesser spawn handle it.
With a wave of her hand, she loosened the seal on the Small Rabbits, releasing them into a vast, open field.
And at the center of it—
Satella stood.
The rabbits sensed her immediately.
They turned, ears twitching, tiny noses sniffing the air, their instincts screaming at them—
Food.
They charged.
Hundreds. Thousands.
A tide of white fur and bloodthirsty hunger, the very creatures designed to consume, to endlessly multiply, to strip the world clean of life.
Satella simply stood there.
Then—
Darkness.
The mist rushed outward, curling like tendrils of pure nothingness, swallowing everything whole.
A deafening silence followed.
And then—
The rabbits were gone.
Not just dead. Not just erased.
Eaten.
Every single one, devoured in the span of two seconds, leaving behind nothing but an empty field.
The only thing that remained was the main Great Rabbit, the original, now sealed back into its place.
Pandora studied Satella carefully.
Her breathing was steady.
Her posture unchanged.
The hunger had passed.
Good.
Without another word, Pandora turned and left, sighing softly as she disappeared from the scene.
Meanwhile, Subaru stood completely still, staring at the empty field.
Processing.
Thinking.
Trying not to panic.
She had just—
She had just eaten thousands of bunnies.
Not in a normal way.
Not in a stomach-filling, digestion-type way.
She had consumed them.
She had erased them.
She had devoured their very existence.
There was nothing left of them.
It wasn't even killing.
It was worse.
She shuddered.
At least it had been rabbits.
At least it hadn't been people.
But next time?
What if it was?
What if she couldn't stop herself?
What if the hunger kept getting worse?
She gritted her teeth.
She needed to keep her emotions in check.
She needed to keep her desires in check.
Because if she didn't—
If she lost control again—
There would be no one left.

Other than the insatiable hunger gnawing at her from the inside out, the black mist coiling around her like a living shadow, the fact that everything rotted if she touched it without gloves, the disturbing urge to kiss herself, and the occasional violent impulse to kill someone for absolutely no reason, Subaru realized…
She was actually mostly normal.
Which was kind of depressing when she thought about it.
Because despite all that, she still felt like herself.
Her thoughts were still her thoughts—well, mostly.
She still had her memories, her personality, her sarcasm, her stubbornness.
She still felt awkward, frustrated, annoyed, and weirdly tired all the time, which seemed like a very normal human thing to feel.
And when she wasn't having existential breakdowns or panicking about consuming reality, she was just…
Existing.
Like a regular person.
If she ignored all the horrifying Witch stuff, she was just Subaru.
Which made it all so much worse.
