14 – There Are Other Rabbits Outside
After dinner, Master Fu did not stay with Fu Chenxiu and the others, as it was time for him to return.
Before leaving, he did not forget to instruct Mu Mian, “Mu Mian, if this boy bullies you or tries to send you away, just tell Grandpa, and Grandpa will stand up for you.”
After saying this, he turned his head and glared fiercely at Fu Chenxiu, “Chenxiu, you must take good care of Mu Mian and work on building a relationship with her. I will come often to check on the situation!”
Fu Chenxiu merely responded with a calm “Mm.”
Master Fu then looked at Fu Yifei, “Yi Fei, walk me to the door.”
Knowing that his grandfather must have something to say to him privately, Fu Yifei accompanied Master Fu to the entrance.
“Keep an eye on your brother and find ways to bring him and your sister-in-law closer. Report any developments to me at any time.”
“Don’t worry, Grandpa, I guarantee I’ll complete the mission!”
Fu Yifei patted his chest confidently.
Fu Chenxiu was his one and only older brother and someone he had always admired. Naturally, he didn’t want his brother to die before turning 28.
If his sister-in-law could truly help lift his brother’s curse, he would spare no effort to assist his brother and sister-in-law, acting as a powerful wingman between the two!
Although Master Fu felt his second grandson was also somewhat unreliable, he had no choice but to place his hopes in him for now.
After seeing Master Fu off, Fu Yifei returned inside.
“Grandpa doesn’t live with us?” Mu Mian had initially assumed Master Fu would also be staying here.
“No, Grandpa lives with Grandma and my parents at the main residence. My brother moved out first, and after I came of age, I moved in with him,” Fu Yifei explained.
From Fu Yifei’s words, Mu Mian noticed something amiss. She tilted her head, and her rabbit ears tilted along with it.
“What about my husband’s parents?” Mu Mian asked curiously.
Fu Yifei had mentioned earlier that they were cousins, but he had only referred to his own parents just now. What about her husband’s parents?
As soon as Mu Mian finished speaking, Fu Chenxiu’s expression darkened instantly, and the atmosphere around him grew cold.
Fu Yifei widened his eyes in alarm, quickly glanced at his brother, and urgently made a “shushing” gesture to Mu Mian.
This was not a topic to bring up!
“I’m heading to the company,” Fu Chenxiu said in a low voice, then strode out of the villa.

“Sister-in-law, remember, never mention anything about parents in front of my brother from now on.”

Had something happened to her husband’s parents?

As it neared the time for Fu Chenxiu to return home from work, Mu Mian hopped cheerfully downstairs, intending to wait for her husband in the living room in advance.
Just as she reached the bottom of the stairs, her sensitive rabbit ears inadvertently overheard two servants whispering quietly in the stairwell.”Master Fu has returned today, so it seems she really is going to become our mistress.”
“I wonder how this fiancée appeared out of nowhere. I always thought Miss Jiang would be the future lady of the Fu family.”
“I thought so too! Miss Jiang and the master seem much more well-suited for each other.”
Hearing the servants’ conversation, Mu Mian couldn’t help but furrow her brows. Were they saying that her husband was better matched with some Miss Jiang?
Mu Mian leaned half her body over the stair railing, looking down at the servants below: “What are you talking about?”
Hearing her voice, the two servants looked up and saw Mu Mian leaning down to stare at them, appearing like a ghost that had suddenly emerged. They trembled with fright and let out screams.
“We… we weren’t talking about anything.”
They hadn’t expected their private chatter to be overheard by Mu Mian.
“Who is Miss Jiang?” Mu Mian asked sharply.
The servants were shocked that Mu Mian had heard their whispered conversation, their faces turning pale with fear.
After all, the servant who had taken Mu Mian shopping last time had been dismissed from the Fu family for unknown reasons upon their return.
“No… no one important! We were just talking nonsense, madam. Please don’t take it to heart.”
“We… we have cleaning to do! We should go!” The two servants quickly made their escape.
Mu Mian straightened up and continued downstairs to sit on the sofa, crossing her arms and pouting angrily.
Though she didn’t know who this Miss Jiang was, hearing the servants say she was better suited for her husband made Rabbit jealous!
Could this be why her husband was rejecting her in this lifetime – because he had another woman he liked?!
At this thought, Mu Mian’s rabbit ears instantly stood straight up.
Her husband had another rabbit outside! She wasn’t her husband’s only rabbit anymore!
The more Mu Mian thought about it, the angrier she became. The more she thought, the more jealous she felt. The more she considered it, the more wronged she felt, until she had completely transformed into a vinegar-soaked rabbit.
At six o’clock, Fu Chenxiu returned to the villa as scheduled.
He got out of the car, but unlike before, no rabbit ambushed him immediately upon his arrival.

Upon entering the living room, he saw the girl with her rabbit ears standing straight up like antennas, arms crossed, looking like an unapproachable rabbit.

He wasn’t playing dumb – Mu Mian had suddenly run up to him demanding to know about some Miss Jiang, and he genuinely didn’t understand what she meant.
“It’s… I heard you’re involved with some woman named Jiang!”
Fu Chenxiu understood now – the servants must have been spreading some rumors that had reached this rabbit’s ears.
“I’m not involved with any other woman,” Fu Chenxiu replied calmly, without a trace of guilt in his tone.
Mu Mian’s ears twitched slightly, “Really?”
Fu Chenxiu’s handsome face maintained its composed and aloof expression as he steadily responded, “Why would I lie to you? If I had another woman, I wouldn’t have let you live here in the first place.”Mu Mian was a rabbit with very soft ears, and hearing Fu Chenxiu speak so convincingly, without a hint of deception, her rabbit ears drooped downward.
“Then… then I’ll believe you for now!”
