18 – The Future President’s Wife
The reporter was broadcasting live, “Klute is indeed in the lead. Wait… a young girl suddenly appeared on the scene, she overtook Klute! The girl is running as fast as a rabbit!”
Unsurprisingly, Klute was overtaken, and by a girl at that. He pushed himself to chase after her.
But the girl still left him far behind.

“Oh no! Sir, I just remembered there’s a marathon happening nearby today. The road from home should be blocked off. I’m not sure if the driver can make it in time.”
As soon as Shi Hai finished speaking, his phone rang. It was the driver.
Shi Hai quickly answered the call, “Hello, Uncle Chen, where are you now? Can you still make it in time?”
“I’ve reached XX Road, but it’s blocked ahead. I can’t go any further.”
Feeling that the documents were definitely not going to arrive, Shi Hai’s heart sank.
Then, the driver’s astonished voice continued, “But Madam got out of the car and is running over now!”
Shi Hai: “???”
After Shi Hai hung up, Fu Chenxiu’s deep voice sounded, “What happened?”
“Uncle Chen said the road is blocked, but Madam is running over.”
Fu Chenxiu: “…”
— Ye Corporation CEO’s Office.
Ye Jingchuan turned on his computer, and a news pop-up about the marathon appeared at the bottom of the screen.
Ye Jingchuan originally intended to close the pop-up but accidentally clicked on it.
The screen was broadcasting the race footage.
Ye Jingchuan saw Mu Mian.
He hadn’t expected to see her in such a place. Ye Jingchuan’s eyes lit up in surprise.
“The girl is still in first place and has left Klute far behind!” the reporter excitedly announced.
The racecourse was about to turn at an intersection ahead, but Mu Mian continued running straight.
Reporter: “???”
“Oh no! The girl seems to have misread the route marker!”
To prevent participants from taking the wrong path, barriers had been specially set up at the intersection.
Mu Mian did a rabbit-like leap, easily cleared the barrier, and continued running quickly ahead.
Uncle Driver said her husband’s company was the tallest building, and she just needed to keep running straight.
“No! It seems the girl isn’t here for the race… she’s just passing through?”
Since they had to continue filming the other participants, the cameraman gave Mu Mian a distant shot of her back as she ran off, then followed Klute, who had retaken the lead, around the turn.
Watching Mu Mian disappear from the screen, Ye Jingchuan curled his lips.
She really was interesting.
Ye Jingchuan pressed the intercom.
Soon, the office door opened, and his assistant entered.
“Do you have any instructions, President Ye?”
“Help me investigate who the girl leading the marathon just now was.”
Mu Mian rabbit-dashed to the company entrance.
A large corporation like Fu Corporation naturally couldn’t be entered freely. Employees had to swipe their cards to get in, and security guards were posted at the entrance.
Just then, an employee swiped their card and opened the door.
Mu Mian rushed straight in.
The security guard rubbed his eyes. Did something just run inside?
Once inside the company, Mu Mian was like a rabbit lost in the forest, unsure where to go.
Seeing this, a receptionist approached her, “Miss, who are you looking for?”
“I’m here to see my husband!”
The receptionist glanced at Mu Mian. This young girl looked only about eighteen. Married so young?
“May I ask your husband’s name and which department he works in?””My husband’s name is Fu Chenxiu!” Ever since she’d asked her husband’s name last time, Rabbit had engraved it in her lungs with every breath she took.
“Pfft…” The receptionist couldn’t hold back her laughter.
The receptionist tried hard to suppress her amusement. After all, as professional front desk staff, they were trained not to laugh under normal circumstances – unless they simply couldn’t help it.
“Miss, I’m sorry but our President Fu isn’t married. We’ve seen plenty of women trying to approach President Fu using methods like yours. Please leave now, or I’ll have to call security.”
“I’m not leaving! My husband told me to come here!”
Seeing that Mu Mian showed no intention of leaving, the receptionist was about to call security when Assistant Shi hurried over.
After learning that Mu Mian had come, Fu Chenxiu had sent him down to receive her.
He never expected his wife would actually run over here so quickly.
Seeing Mu Mian being stopped by the receptionist, Shi Hai quickly approached.
He bowed slightly to Mu Mian and said, “Madam, my apologies for coming down late.”
The receptionist naturally recognized Shi Hai – he was President Fu’s assistant.
Hearing Shi Hai address this girl as “Madam,” her eyes widened in disbelief.
“It’s fine, I just arrived.”
“Madam, please follow me upstairs.”
Shi Hai gestured toward the elevator direction and led Mu Mian toward the president’s private elevator.
The receptionist remained frozen in place, still shocked.
Their president… had a wife?
She couldn’t help but recall the gossip she’d heard from colleagues a few days ago – apparently President Fu had a fiancée who had never appeared before…
Mu Mian followed Shi Hai into the elevator.
“Madam… did you really run here?” Shi Hai examined Mu Mian, who showed no signs of redness in her face or even being out of breath, and asked incredulously.
Mu Mian nodded lightly, her tone cheerful: “Yes.”
Shi Hai: “…”
At this distance, in such a short time, even a world champion would struggle to run it, and she looked completely unfazed.
What kind of existence was Madam exactly?
“Wow!—” Discovering that the elevator had started ascending and she could see the scenery outside through the glass elevator, Mu Mian pressed herself against the glass in amazement.
“Ding—” The elevator stopped at the top floor.
Shi Hai reminded Mu Mian: “Madam, we’ve arrived.”
Only then did Mu Mian snap out of it, skipping and hopping as she followed Shi Hai out of the elevator.
Seeing Assistant Shi bring back a beautiful girl, the employees in the secretary’s office couldn’t help but sneak glances.
After Shi Hai took Mu Mian into the office, they quickly gathered together and whispered among themselves.
“Why would Assistant Shi suddenly bring a girl to the president’s office?”
“Could she be our future madam president?”
“So President Fu likes the cute type!”
Shi Hai led Mu Mian into the office.
“Sir, Madam has arrived.”
“Husband!” The moment she entered the office and saw Fu Chenxiu, Mu Mian immediately rushed toward him excitedly.
Fu Chenxiu examined the girl before him and found she showed no abnormalities at all, completely unlike someone who had run all the way here.
Then again, she was a rabbit after all, and rabbits naturally run very fast.
“Did you bring the things?”
Mu Mian immediately obediently handed over the documents with both hands.
Fu Chenxiu took the documents and checked them.
Closing the files, he saw the girl leaning her head forward, her eyes filled with expectation as she looked at him, seemingly waiting for praise.Fu Chenxiu’s hand holding the documents paused for a moment. He extended a hand and gently stroked her head, incidentally brushing against her rabbit ears.
“Thank you.”
