23 – I Will Always Wait for My Husband to Come
A vision of the girl’s expectant gaze when he left home flashed through his mind.
Fu Chenxiu’s thin lips pressed into a tight line, his hand clutching the phone unconsciously tightened, veins bulging on the back of his hand.
“Hurry up,” he urged.
“Yes,” Shi Hai responded, pushing the car to its maximum speed.
The weather was gradually turning colder. A chilly wind blew past, causing Mu Mian to shiver and hug herself tighter as she remained crouched in place.
Staff members had asked her several times if she wanted to go inside first, but Mu Mian insisted on waiting for her husband to arrive before entering together.
Shi Hai reached the concert venue entrance at top speed.
Before the car had even come to a complete stop, Fu Chenxiu opened the door and stepped out quickly.
From a distance, he spotted a small pink figure curled up in a ball.
His heart suddenly clenched as if squeezed by an invisible force, bringing a faint discomfort.
Fu Chenxiu strode over quickly.
“Mu Mian.”
Hearing her name, Mu Mian lifted her head and looked toward the source of the voice.
When she saw the familiar figure approaching, her previously dull eyes instantly sparkled with light.
She hurriedly stood up and threw herself into Fu Chenxiu’s arms.
“Husband, you’re here!”
The girl buried herself in his embrace, her bright eyes gazing up at him without any trace of anger over his tardiness.
Fu Chenxiu pressed his lips together, an inexplicable ripple stirring within him. “I misread the time, that’s why I’m late.”
Mu Mian shook her head. “It’s okay! Rabbit knew her husband would come, so she would wait here for him no matter what!”
The girl’s innocent words churned strange emotions in Fu Chenxiu’s chest.
He used to be like that too… believing she would definitely come.
“Ah-choo!~” Mu Mian suddenly sneezed loudly, sniffling afterward.
Although daytime temperatures were relatively warm, nights grew colder, especially when the wind picked up.
The next moment, Mu Mian felt a weight settle on her shoulders, enveloping her in warmth as Fu Chenxiu removed his suit jacket and draped it over her.
“Let’s go inside.”
Never expecting her husband would give her his coat, Mu Mian’s eyes shone brighter as she nodded vigorously.
Just then, a staff member came out to check on them again, noticing the handsome man now standing beside Mu Mian and realizing this must be the husband she’d been waiting for.
Unaware of their relationship with Fu Yifei or Fu Chenxiu’s identity, the staff member couldn’t help speaking up for Mu Mian: “Making a girl wait so long isn’t very gentlemanly.”
Fu Chenxiu looked down at Mu Mian’s red-tipped nose and murmured softly, “My apologies. It won’t happen again.”
This was the first time the words “I’m sorry” had ever left Fu Chenxiu’s lips.
The staff member led them to the VIP seating area.
The view was excellent, and they were the only ones in the section.
The concert had been underway for over half an hour, and the atmosphere was gradually heating up.
This was Mu Mian’s first time attending a concert.
Seeing so many people in the venue, everyone waving their glow sticks, and Fu Yifei on stage—completely transformed from his usual home self—was overwhelming.
Dressed in stylish attire, singing and dancing, he radiated the aura of a top-tier idol.
“Wow! Yi Fei looks so handsome today!” Mu Mian couldn’t help but exclaim.

After the concert ended, staff led Fu Chenxiu and Mu Mian backstage.
“Brother, sister-in-law!” Fu Yifei immediately rushed over excitedly when he saw them arrive.
Hearing Fu Yifei call this man “brother” and this girl “sister-in-law,” the staff member realized Fu Chenxiu’s identity and widened their eyes in terror.
Had they just criticized President Fu for not being gentlemanly enough? Would they even survive today!
The staff member quickly made their escape.
Fu Yifei couldn’t hide the joy on his face – partly because his first concert had been successfully completed, and partly because they had come together to watch it.
“Brother, the staff said you hadn’t entered when the concert started. I was afraid you weren’t coming.”
“If I said I would come, I would come.” Though there had been some unexpected incidents along the way.
Mu Mian praised: “Yi Fei, you were amazing today! So handsome!”
Receiving his sister-in-law’s praise, Fu Yifei proudly lifted his chin: “Of course! Just look at who I am! So who was more handsome today – me or my brother?”
Fu Yifei looked at Mu Mian expectantly.
Being more handsome than his brother, even if just for one day, was his lifelong goal!
Without hesitation, Mu Mian answered as a matter of course: “Of course my husband is more handsome!”
In Rabbit’s heart, her husband was the most handsome!
Hearing Mu Mian’s answer, a faint smile hid at the corners of Fu Chenxiu’s mouth.
“Sister-in-law! This is my concert today! Can’t you just praise me?” Fu Yifei expressed his frustration.
“But… husband really is more handsome!” Mu Mian answered awkwardly. She wanted to be an honest rabbit!
Fu Chenxiu spoke lightly: “What’s the point of insincere praise.”
Fu Yifei: “…” Damn, not only won’t praise his handsomeness, but they’re feeding him dog food too!
Since Fu Yifei still needed to celebrate with the staff, Fu Chenxiu and Mu Mian left the concert first.
After leaving the venue, they stood by the roadside waiting for Shi Hai to bring the car around.
Mu Mian felt her nose getting more stuffed up, so she pulled over her rabbit ears and wiped her nose with them.
Fu Chenxiu: “…” Seeing the messy rabbit using her rabbit ears to wipe her nose nearby, he reached into his pocket.
“Here.”
Seeing the man’s slender hand offering a handkerchief before her, Mu Mian dumbly accepted it.
Seeing the girl holding the handkerchief in a daze, Fu Chenxiu spoke: “What are you spacing out for.”
Mu Mian shook her head, happily holding the handkerchief. In one of her past lives, her husband had also given her a handkerchief as a token of love!
Returning to the villa, Mu Mian bounced out of the car and walked inside, clearly in a very good mood.
“Watching Yi Fei’s concert made you this happy?”

Mu Mian nodded heavily, answering truthfully: “Yi Fei said watching concerts is something couples must do! Today was our first date!”

He didn’t know whether Fu Yifei saying that watching concerts was something couples must do was just fooling this rabbit or if it was true, because this was his first time attending one too.
But clearly this easily fooled rabbit had taken today as their first date.
“What kind of date is this.”Hearing Fu Chenxiu’s words and thinking he didn’t consider today as their date, Mu Mian lowered her head dejectedly, her ears drooping.
So today wasn’t a date after all…
