3 – A Feast of Rabbits
Fu Yifei casually found a topic to break the silence: “Sister-in-law, how long has it been since you last ate?”
Mu Mian thought for a moment: “A few decades?”
She had eaten her fill before going into hibernation, but she had overslept by seven years, which was why she was hungry now.
Fu Yifei: “???”
Fu Chenxiu’s gaze subtly drifted toward Mu Mian beside him.
They arrived at the most famous restaurant in City A, where the patrons were all distinguished and wealthy individuals, usually requiring reservations a month in advance.
The waiter led them to the private room reserved for the Fu family.
Only the four of them sat at the large dining table.
“Sister-in-law, the food here is the best in all of City A,” Fu Yifei proudly introduced.
Mu Mian blinked her large, expectant eyes.
“I’ll order,” Fu Yifei said, flipping open the menu.
“No need, I’ve already ordered in advance,” Fu Chenxiu said calmly.
Surprised that his brother had been so considerate as to order ahead, Fu Yifei remarked, “Looks like you really wanted to treat Sister-in-law well!”
“Indeed, she must be treated well,” Fu Chenxiu emphasized the last two words.
Since the dishes had been pre-ordered, the waiter soon brought them out.
With each dish served, the waiter politely announced its name.
“Stir-fried rabbit meat.”
Mu Mian: “!”
“Dry pot rabbit.”
Mu Mian: “!!”
“Cold rabbit.”
Mu Mian: “!!!”
“Spicy Rabbit Head.”
Mu Mian: “!!!!”
Rabbits are so cute—how could anyone eat rabbits!
“Damn, bro, you’re absolutely insane! Why is it all rabbit? What did rabbits ever do to you?”
Looking at the “full rabbit feast” his brother had ordered, Fu Yifei couldn’t help but complain.
Shi Hai, who knew why the young master had ordered these dishes: “…” This was targeted precision!
Fu Chenxiu’s expression remained neutral as his gaze subtly shifted to the girl beside him.
Mu Mian stared at the table full of her “dismembered” kin, and tears involuntarily… welled up at the corner of her mouth.
“Born of the same root, why such haste to fry each other… I will enjoy you all properly!”
Noticing the glistening at the girl’s lips, Fu Chenxiu: “…”
Over ten minutes later…
The waiter came in to clear the empty plates. Mu Mian, gnawing on the last rabbit head, watched as the waiter took the empty plate away.
She looked pleadingly at Fu Chenxiu: “Can we order another plate of this?”
Observing the girl with her fluffy rabbit ears and cute buckteeth chomping away at the rabbit head, Fu Chenxiu: “…”
This scene… was truly a bit bizarre.
The man flatly refused: “No.”
Rejected, Rabbit’s ears drooped dejectedly.
“Alright…”
After the meal, Mu Mian slumped in her chair, her belly full and round.
“Burp~”
Who would have thought that after sleeping for decades, food nowadays was so much more delicious!
“Since you’re done eating, let’s go.”
Hearing this, Mu Mian immediately looked at Fu Chenxiu with nervous tension.
Was he going to kick her out because she ate too much?
Sensing the girl’s anxious gaze, her rabbit ears perked up straight.
Fu Chenxiu simply stood up and said calmly, “We should head back. I have matters to attend to.”
Realizing he wasn’t trying to send her away, Mu Mian relaxed, and her rabbit ears softened and drooped along with her sigh of relief.
Once in the car, on the drive back, Mu Mian couldn’t help but curiously gaze out the window. On her way here, she had been so immersed in the joy of seeing her husband and so carefully observing Fu Chenxiu that she hadn’t properly taken in this world decades later.
The streets outside the window were completely different from before her last slumber.
Both sides of the street were lined with dazzling shops, the roads were wider and smoother than before with bustling traffic, and pedestrians were dressed in bright, fashionable clothing.
Wow… she never expected the changes over these decades to be so tremendous.
In several previous lifetimes when she awakened from slumber, the world hadn’t changed much, but this time it was completely different from before!
Mu Mian was utterly captivated by this novel world.
Though Fu Chenxiu’s gaze appeared focused on the work documents on his tablet, his peripheral attention was caught by Mu Mian, who resembled an curious child with wide eyes pressed against the window watching the outside world.
The corner of his mouth lifted in an almost imperceptible curve.
“What are those people holding in their hands?”
Mu Mian noticed many pedestrians holding cups of something, occasionally taking sips through their mouths.
Fu Yifei looked out the window – this was a neighborhood popular with young people, filled with milk tea shops where pedestrians would often buy cups of milk tea to drink.
“Oh, that’s milk tea.”
Mu Mian blinked her eyes: “Milk tea?”
Milk was milk, tea was tea – what exactly was milk tea?
“Sister-in-law, you’ve never had milk tea before?” Fu Yifei asked in surprise.
Mu Mian simply shook her head.
Not only had she never tasted it – she had never even heard of it.
“Sister-in-law, where exactly are you from?” Fu Yifei expressed great curiosity about this sudden sister-in-law of his.
What young person nowadays has never tried milk tea?
Mu Mian thought for a moment and answered truthfully: “The mountains.”
She really did come from the mountains – she had been sleeping in a forest for decades.
Fu Yifei showed an understanding expression.
“Is this delicious?” Mu Mian asked with wide eyes full of curiosity.
“Of course it’s delicious.”
Seeing this, Fu Yifei felt that as the younger brother-in-law, he should fulfill his hosting duties.
After placing an order on the app, Fu Yifei said, “Brother Hai, stop at that Heytea shop at the intersection ahead. I’ll buy sister-in-law some milk tea.”
Shi Hai glanced at Fu Chenxiu in the backseat through the rearview mirror, seeing him looking down expressionlessly at documents on his iPad, uncertain whether he was listening to their conversation.
But since the master didn’t object, Shi Hai stopped the car at the intersection.
Fu Yifei put on sunglasses, a hat, and a mask before getting out of the car fully disguised.
Soon he returned carrying a bag of milk teas.
“For sister-in-law.”
Fu Yifei handed Mu Mian a cup of Grape Cheese Tea.
Mu Mian received it reverently with both hands, surprised by how cold it was, her small body giving a slight shiver.
“This cup of Strawberry Cheese Tea is mine~ Brother Hai, since you’re driving, you can have yours later when we return. And this is for big brother.”
Fu Yifei offered another cup to Fu Chenxiu.
Fu Chenxiu merely glanced up at him condescendingly without accepting it.
He refused coldly, “I don’t drink such things.”
“Fine. Then I’ll reluctantly drink two cups~”
Fu Yifei knew his big brother’s personality well – if he didn’t want something, forcing it on him was useless.
Mu Mian looked at the milk tea in her hands, unsure how to drink it.
“How do you drink this?”
“Just like this.”
Fu Yifei inserted the straw and took a sip.Mu Mian mimicked his action and took a deep breath.
The next second, her eyes widened abruptly, and the rabbit ears that had been drooping smoothly by the sides of her head instantly perked up with a “ber” sound.
“!!!”
