6 – Bunny Waits for Husband to Come Home
The fact that Sir allowed Madam to move in shows that he still acknowledges her status.
Perhaps Sir will gradually come to accept Madam.
Shi Hai naturally hoped that Fu Chenxiu’s curse could be broken.
“I won’t disturb you any further then.” Shi Hai gave a slight gesture before leaving the study.
After Shi Hai left the study, Fu Chenxiu didn’t immerse himself in work either, his gaze drifting vacantly into the distance.
Late at night, Mu Mian had already fallen into a deep sleep on the soft bed.
The door opened gently, and a tall figure slipped quietly inside.
The curtains hadn’t been drawn, and by the bright moonlight, the man walked to the bedside, looking at the girl sleeping in a tangled mess—one rabbit ear flung to the side, the other pressed beneath her head.
Fu Chenxiu’s gaze rested heavily on Mu Mian’s flawless, pale face.
The girl looked so sweet and innocent in her sleep, completely unguarded against this new environment.
Why… did you only appear now?
After pulling the kicked-aside blanket back over her, the man quietly left the room.
Xiao Qiu, sleeping on the nearby coat rack, faintly heard the movement and opened its eyes, but the door was already closed, so it shut them again and continued sleeping.
Morning arrived with clear skies and not a cloud in sight. Since the curtains were open, bright sunlight streamed through the window.
Mu Mian was awakened by the sun shining in her eyes, blinking groggily.
Knock knock knock Just then, the bedroom door was tapped, and a servant’s voice came from outside.
“Madam, are you awake?”
“I’m awake.”
“Breakfast is ready. Please come down to eat after you’ve washed up.”
The mention of food instantly perked Rabbit up.
“I’ll be right down!” After calling back, she threw off the covers and hopped out of bed.
She went to the bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth, cleaning her little rabbit teeth until they were sparkling white, then bounced out of the room.
Fu Chenxiu had already gone downstairs. Hearing footsteps, he glanced over and saw the girl with her fluffy rabbit ears bouncing down.
As soon as she reached the bottom of the stairs, Mu Mian spotted Fu Chenxiu, and her eyes immediately lit up.
“Hubby! Good morning!”
Fu Chenxiu didn’t respond, simply heading toward the dining room.
Mu Mian hurried to follow.
“Brother, sister-in-law, you’re here.” Fu Yifei had arrived earlier and was already seated at the table.
Mu Mian eagerly approached the dining table, but her big eyes showed disappointment at the sight of the breakfast spread.
“Is there no spicy rabbit head?” she couldn’t help asking.
The taste of yesterday’s spicy rabbit head was still fresh in her memory—it was absolutely delicious!
“Who eats spicy rabbit head for breakfast?” Fu Yifei replied with a hint of sarcasm.
“What about milk tea then?”
Milk tea was so tasty too! But there was so little in one cup—Rabbit had slurped it up in no time.
“That’s not for breakfast either.”
“Okay…” Her perky rabbit ears drooped dejectedly.
After Fu Chenxiu took his seat, Mu Mian quickly sat down beside him.
“Master, Xiao Qiu is hungry too!”
“Hey, where’s that bird sound coming from?” Hearing the chirping suddenly, Fu Yifei asked in confusion.
Sensing the sound came from Mu Mian’s direction, Fu Yifei looked closely and was startled to see a small bird perched on her shoulder, his eyes widening in surprise.
“Sister-in-law, why is there a bird on your shoulder?”
“This is Xiao Qiu. He’s my pet. Can we get some food for him?”Mu Mian gazed longingly at Fu Chenxiu.
The man was elegantly eating with his eyes lowered, seemingly no longer listening to her.
Mu Mian’s eyes fell in disappointment.
The next second, the man’s magnetic voice rang out, “Shi Hai, have the servants prepare some feed.”
“Yes,” Shi Hai responded before leaving the dining room.
Mu Mian’s eyes instantly lit up again—her husband had been listening after all!
After finishing breakfast, Fu Chenxiu prepared to leave for work.
Seeing Fu Chenxiu stand up, Mu Mian, who had still been eating, hurriedly put down her chopsticks and rose to follow him.
Noticing him changing shoes at the entrance, seemingly about to go out, Mu Mian trotted after him: “Husband, are you going out?”
“Mm.”
“Where are you going? Can you take me with you?”
Fu Chenxiu’s gaze fell upon her, meeting the girl’s eyes filled with anticipation.
“I’m going to the company. It’s not convenient.”
That meant he wouldn’t take her along.
Expecting her to insist on following, he was surprised when Rabbit obediently said, “Then husband should go to work. Rabbit will wait nicely for husband to come home!”
Fu Chenxiu acknowledged with a sound and turned to leave, but the hem of his clothes was tugged by a pair of small, snow-white hands. The grip was so tight it wrinkled the neat fabric.
Turning back, he met the girl’s bright dark eyes gazing at him with a trace of nervousness, like a rabbit abandoned by its owner.
“You will come back, right?”
Husband wouldn’t leave Rabbit behind and never return, would he?
Fu Chenxiu’s heartbeat inexplicably skipped a beat.
“This is my home. Why wouldn’t I come back?”
Hearing this, Rabbit breathed a sigh of relief and released her grip on his clothes.
Fu Chenxiu then left the villa with Shi Hai.
Getting into the car, he saw through the rearview mirror that the girl had followed them out and was standing at the doorway, hopping up and down as she waved goodbye.
Fu Chenxiu: “…”
Now he understood why pet owners often ended up late for work.
“Drive.”
Shi Hai drove away from the villa.
Watching the car disappear from view, Rabbit’s mood sank as she lowered her head.
In the past, whenever she found her husband, he would take her wherever he went.
But this lifetime’s husband was different. If she insisted on following, he might get angry and possibly even drive her away from here.
So this sensible rabbit decided to wait obediently at home for her husband’s return.
Not long after, the gate opened again.
The moment Fu Yifei stepped out, he saw his sister-in-law crouching in the yard with her hands tucked in.
“Sister-in-law, what are you doing?”
“I’m waiting for husband to come home.”
Fu Yifei: “???”
“But my brother just left.”
“But Rabbit promised to wait for him to come home.”
Mu Mian was a rabbit who kept her promises! If husband came back and found Rabbit hadn’t waited for him, he would surely be disappointed!
Fu Yifei figured she wouldn’t wait here like this for long. “Alright then. I have a magazine shoot to attend, so I’ll head out first.”
After finishing the shoot around 5 p.m., Fu Yifei returned to the villa.
As soon as he got out of the car, he was shocked to see his sister-in-law still crouching at the entrance, his eyes widening in astonishment.
“Sister-in-law, you haven’t been crouching here motionless all day, have you?”
“Of course not.”
Fu Yifei breathed a sigh of relief—that would have been impossible.
“I went inside to have lunch.”
Fu Yifei: “…”
“Sister-in-law, why don’t you go inside first? Who knows when my brother will be back.”Rabbit said firmly, “I promised to wait for my husband to come back.”
“Then, sister-in-law, I’ll go in first.”
Fu Yifei walked to the door, couldn’t resist taking out his phone, opened the camera, and took a photo of Mu Mian’s back, sending it to his older brother.
