Lu Chenyu appeared no different from an ordinary person. He, a zombie leader, casually walked into a small team of dozens of humans, the kitten in his arms drawing almost everyone’s attention. Gu Cha’s cat eyes stared curiously at them, but within seconds, a large hand blocked his view.
“Meow.” Gu Cha’s little paw climbed onto Lu Chenyu’s wrist that was obstructing his sight.
A faint voice came from above: “What’s so interesting about these ugly humans?”
There was a stir among the crowd.
“A cat… it’s a cat.”
“Oh my, where did the cat come from?”
Lu Chenyu ignored their chatter and walked forward, following the silky white fur, soon climbing into a black off-road vehicle.
“Th-that car is his!” someone in the crowd shouted.
Lu Chenyu sat in the modified vehicle. The original back seat had been converted into a small bed, just large enough to fit the tall man’s body.
After sitting by the bed, Gu Cha was placed on a separate seat. The bed looked comfortable, and he wanted to lie on it, but when he lifted a paw, he heard the man’s warning: “Don’t want your paw anymore?”
Gu Cha sulkily withdrew it.
Lu Chenyu glanced at the humans gathered outside, chattering, and clicked his tongue in disapproval.
No one knew that the fearsome Zombie King was now only separated from them by a car window, his frustration steadily rising.
Lu Chenyu was the Zombie King, but he had once been human. Since childhood, he didn’t know his parents and had survived alone through the zombie era. A few years ago, he had been bitten by a zombie, completely turning into one himself. Strangely, unlike others, he did not lose consciousness and become a “monster,” nor did his appearance change.
He also discovered that zombies would not attack him; instead, one by one, they came before him “showing respect,” holding human organs in their hands.
At that time, Lu Chenyu had not hesitated to tell them to “scram.”
From then on, he naturally became the Zombie King.
The Zombie King could command zombies, yet he could not suppress their instinct as zombies: drinking human blood, eating human flesh; humans were their “food.”
Survival of the fittest was the rule.
Lu Chenyu also noticed something surprising: since becoming the Zombie King, even if he went long periods without eating, he never felt hunger. So he reduced his original three meals a day to one meal every three days.
Yes… the Zombie King did not eat human flesh. He still ate human food.
In this turbulent era, Lu Chenyu lived probably more comfortably than the high-ranking officials in the bases.
He aimlessly drove a black off-road vehicle across the corners of the Earth, covering the whole planet in five or six years.
During that time, he never suffered attacks from zombie little brothers but did encounter several blockades and robberies from humans, witnessing human-inflicted slaughter and the extreme “evil” humans showed just to survive, again and again.
Gradually, Lu Chenyu found the world unbearably boring.
Before today, he had planned to find a well and drown himself.
But the unexpected appearance of a small creature awakened a long-dormant sense of mischief in Lu Chenyu’s heart. He decided to postpone his plan and die some other time.
A few hours earlier, he had parked his car here. At first, there had been few people, but upon returning, he found the place unexpectedly crowded.
Chattering incessantly—truly annoying.
“Meow.” Gu Cha looked at Lu Chenyu’s suddenly fierce eyes, confused.
Lu Chenyu glanced at him: “Shut up.”
Gu Cha had no choice but to close his mouth and carefully lay down on the seat. A strange thought suddenly popped into his mind: this male lead’s temper was even worse than the last one.
Gu Cha was startled by his own thought. He could not remember the temperament of the male lead from the previous Dimensional World, nor his name or appearance. How could such a thought appear all of a sudden?
Lu Chenyu had not slept for several days. Even his evolved body was a little tired, and lying on the bed, he seemed ready to nap.
Gu Cha observed him for a while, paw rubbing his belly, unsure whether to speak up about being hungry. He opened his mouth, showing a tiny red tongue, but out of fear, he remained silent.
However, hunger was unbearable, so he tossed and turned in the chair, lying on his back with all four legs in the air, staring at the roof.
His large eyes scanned the car interior.
Such a big vehicle, yet there was not a single piece of food.
“Meow.” Gu Cha expressed his displeasure.
Soon, he felt lying down was too uncomfortable and tried to shift positions.
“If you make another sound, I’ll throw you out.”
Gu Cha suddenly heard this cold statement. His body stiffened; he dared not move. Flipping, he was left half-suspended in the chair, and then… he fell straight down.
“Ahh—” The kitten nearly screamed in shock.
A hand caught him.
Gu Cha continued shrieking, only opening his eyes curiously after several seconds when he felt no pain, meeting Lu Chenyu’s cold gaze.
Lu Chenyu lifted him by the back of his neck: “What are you doing?”
This posture was uncomfortable for Gu Cha. He wriggled, finally letting his paw reach his belly, and in a soft, drawn-out voice said, “Meow—” I’m hungry…
Lu Chenyu narrowed his eyes, examining him: “Hungry?”
Gu Cha nodded his cat head, blinking.
Lu Chenyu cursed under his breath, sitting up. He thought that had he known this little creature would be so troublesome, he wouldn’t have kept it. Even now, he could still throw it out…
Just as this dangerous thought surfaced, a voice outside interrupted him.
“Brother, our boss wants to make a deal with you. Could you come down to meet him?” A man in tattered clothes knocked on the car window.
Lu Chenyu had no intention of responding. Seeing no movement inside, the man continued: “Our boss plans to exchange supplies for this car and… that kitten. Our boss is generous. You won’t lose in this deal.”
Gu Cha’s ears twitched at the words “that kitten.” He looked at the silent Lu Chenyu.
“Meow?” Gu Cha reached out a paw to touch Lu Chenyu’s hand.
Lu Chenyu glanced at the man outside, suddenly serious: “He makes a fair point… should I agree to give you to him?”
Of course not!
Gu Cha struggled violently, his entire body swinging like a pendulum: “Meow meow meow meow!”
Lu Chenyu quietly watched Gu Cha’s wriggling. Gu Cha’s tiny paws curled together, appearing ready to strike, and a trace of amusement appeared in Lu Chenyu’s eyes.
“Brother, half a bag of flour and ten packs of instant noodles is already plenty. We’re sincerely negotiating with you. Why aren’t you speaking?”
“Brother, I advise you, while we’re still reasonable, leave the car and cat and take the supplies. Don’t refuse the wine and then drink the penalty wine.”
