The jet-black barrier sealed the courtyard in absolute silence. Outside, the high-altitude winds of the peak still battered the cliffs, but within the array, not a whisper of sound survived.
From the north, south, and east, three shadows closed the distance in a heartbeat.
They were Elder Lu’s personal shadow enforcers—cultivators who had ignited twenty spirit veins each, their bodies wrapped in lethal elemental Qis. The lead assassin wielded twin crescent daggers dripping with purple neurotoxin; the second held an iron spear humming with high-frequency Lightning Qi; the third swept forward with a heavy, broad-headed executioner's axe wrapped in roaring Fire Qi.
They didn't speak. They didn't shout. They delivered three synchronized, fatal strikes aimed directly at Ren’s heart, neck, and skull.
Ren didn't dodge. He didn't draw a weapon.
He simply exhaled, releasing his suppression.
Dense Domain: Fifty-Foot Anchor.
An invisible wave of absolute mass slammed down across the sealed courtyard. The air turned instantly dense as molten lead.
The assassin with the Lightning Spear was three inches from thrusting his spear through Ren’s throat when his speed crashed from a lightning-fast blur to a agonizing crawl. The high-frequency lightning buzzing around his spear point buckled and shattered, crushed out of existence by the sheer atmospheric weight.
"What—" the spear-user choked out, his tongue heavy as iron inside his mouth.
Before any of them could react, Ren shifted his defense.
Obsidian Skin.
Ren’s skin darkened into a deep, metallic black luster. He stood still as the three weapons struck his body simultaneously.
CLANG! CLANG! BOOM!
The poisoned daggers snapped against his bare neck like dry twigs. The lightning spear struck his chest and shattered into a dozen flying iron splinters. The massive executioner's axe slammed onto his shoulder, unleashing a wave of Fire Qi that was instantly dragged straight into Ren’s Null Root, swallowed without leaving a single singe mark on his clothes.
The kinetic force of all three peak Spirit Vein strikes rushed into Ren's core. His microscopic singularity drank every ounce of energy, converting it instantly into stored mass.
The three assassins stared at him with eyes wide with horror, pinned to the stone floor by the 50-foot gravity domain, unable to pull their shattered weapons back.
"Is this the best Elder Lu could send?" Ren asked softly, his voice echoing like an iron hammer striking an anvil inside the soundproof dome.
Ren raised his right foot and stomped it down into the center of the courtyard.
Spatial Anchor: Maximum Mass.
The localized gravity beneath the three enforcers multiplied by fifty.
CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!
Their knees buckled violently, smashing straight through the mountain bedrock. Their weapons fell from frozen fingers as the crushing pressure slammed their chests into the dirt, cracking their ribs and pinning their faces into the stone. They couldn't move a single muscle; even their internal Qi pathways groaned under the overwhelming drag, completely paralyzed.
Ren didn't take their lives.
Instead, he walked over to each pinned enforcer, calmly reaching down to strip the copper storage rings from their bloodied fingers. He broke their mental seals with a flick of his gravity field, tossing their contents—spirit stones, poison vials, and Elder Lu’s private faction badges—into his own pouch.
With a flick of his wrist, Ren collapsed the soundproof barrier from the inside.
He grabbed the three paralyzed assassins by their collars, using his zero-mass technique to lift all three grown men with one hand as if they were made of straw.
Ten minutes later, in the grand courtyard outside Elder Lu’s private high-peak pavilion, a heavy, bone-shattering THUMP echoed through the misty night air.
Elder Lu’s private guards rushed out, swords drawn, only to freeze in utter terror.
Piled in front of Elder Lu’s locked pavilion gates were his three elite shadow enforcers, their bones fractured, their spirit veins locked, completely stripped of their storage rings and cultivation badges.
Deeply carved into the solid granite floor beneath their twitching bodies were five large, jagged words written using raw physical pressure:
YOUR WEIGHT IS INSUFFICIENT, ELDER.
From the high balcony above, a shadow stepped to the railing. Elder Lu looked down at his crippled assassins and the message carved into the stone. His silver robes billowed violently as his Core Assembly Qi flared into a murderous, infernal aura that turned the surrounding night mist into boiling steam.
"Ren..." Lu hissed, his voice trembling with absolute rage. "Tomorrow, before the entire sect... I will peel your iron skin from your bones myself."
