Chapter 16: The Crown of Azure Cloud

The Dense Realm Art

The Young Master’s Peak was the highest floating island of the Azure Cloud Sect, towering above the sea of clouds where the ambient air was thick, crisp, and heavy with ancient energy. At its center stood the Sovereign Pavilion, carved from solid obsidian and surrounded by a courtyard of pure white jade.

Ren stood at the edge of the cliff, his new black-and-gold Young Master robes fluttering in the high-altitude wind. The fabric was woven with silk that subtly adjusted to his body weight, though the garment felt weightless compared to the massive force circulating inside him.

Below his feet, at the core of the peak, lay the Spirit Spring of Absolute Pressure—a natural leyline rift that crushed ambient Qi into liquid form. For three days, Ren had sat in the depths of the spring, using the intense environmental weight to push his physical container to its absolute limit.

He held out his right hand.

Instead of turning to a simple dark metallic sheen, his skin shimmered with an inner, deep violet illumination that seemed to bend light around his fingers.

The Sovereign Frame.

The third tier of his physical art was complete. His bones were no longer merely dense like iron; they possessed the structural integrity of celestial bedrock. His muscles and meridians could now comfortably store and release massive gravitational waves without tearing his own skin.

A quiet step echoed behind him on the jade tiles.

Lin Xiu walked forward, carrying a heavy, dust-covered leather volume bearing the seal of the sect's founding patriarchs.

"The elders have finished cataloging Elder Lu’s seized assets," Lin Xiu said, her voice cool and steady. "His subterranean altar was dismantled. We recovered thousands of high-grade spirit stones and ancient texts."

Ren didn't turn around. "Did you find what I asked for?"

"Yes." Lin Xiu opened the heavy volume, setting it on a stone table between them. "Our Azure Cloud Sect was not founded as an independent domain. Three thousand years ago, it was established merely as an outer watchtower for the Seven Astral Heavens—the grand alliance of ancient sects occupying the central continent of the Upper Realm."

Ren turned his head, his dark eyes fixing on the glowing maps drawn on the parchment.

"The fallen sky..." Ren murmured. "The crater that crashed into our borderlands wasn't an isolated meteor. It was a shattered relic falling from the Upper Realm."

"Exactly," Lin Xiu nodded. "And every grand sect in the Upper Realm felt the rift open. The Azure Cloud Sect has been isolated for centuries, but that isolation ends now."

Before Ren could answer, a thunderous boom shook the entire mountain range.

The sky above the outer gates split open as a massive, dark crimson void-ship—nearly three hundred yards long and equipped with glowing furnace-thrusters—tore through the cloud layer. Banners bearing a blazing golden sun snapped fiercely against the hull.

The pressure descending from the ship was suffocating. Hundreds of outer and inner disciples across the lower peaks dropped to their knees, their lungs squeezed tightly by the arrogance of the aura radiating from the vessel.

"The Crimson Solar Sect," Lin Xiu’s hand instinctively dropped to her sword hilt. "An upper-tier faction from the Boundary Sea."

A harsh, booming voice reinforced with Soul Assembly Qi echoed down from the deck of the void-ship, reverberating off every mountain wall.

"Azure Cloud Sect! By order of Young Master Huo of the Crimson Solar Sect, bring out your Sect Patriarch and hand over all celestial scrap harvested from the recent Aether-Scar rift! Delay for ten breaths, and we shall incinerate your lower peaks to ash!"

A squad of ten vanguard enforcers clad in burning crimson armor leaped from the ship’s deck, descending toward the Sovereign Pavilion like falling fireballs to enforce their demand.

Ren looked at the descending flames, his expression completely flat.

He didn't draw a sword. He didn't summon an elemental shield. He simply took one step forward into the open sky off the cliff’s edge, stepping onto thin air as if descending a flight of stone stairs.

Dense Domain: Sovereign Anchor.

Ren stomped his boot onto the empty atmosphere.

BOOM!

A hundred-foot wave of inverted, localized gravity slammed into the descending crimson vanguard mid-air. The roaring fire Qi around the ten elite enforcers was instantly extinguished, crushed out of existence by the sheer pressure. The ten warriors hit an invisible wall of absolute weight, their heavy armor buckling as they were violently hurled back upward, slamming hard into the underside of their own void-ship's hull.

The massive void-ship groaned violently on its wooden ribs, forced upward twenty feet by the sheer kinetic displacement of Ren's single step.

The entire sect went dead silent.

Ren stood suspended in mid-air high above the clouds, his black-and-gold robes still, his eyes glowing with a dark, cosmic violet authority.

"The Azure Cloud Sect pays no tribute to dogs," Ren’s voice carried across the sky, echoing like a mountain collapsing into the void. "Tell your Young Master Huo that if he wants the celestial scrap, he can come try to carry it himself."
