The grand iron gates opened slowly.

Jay stared through the car window as the enormous black mansion came into view.

It looked less like a home and more like a fortress.Full novel: The Devil’s Contact Wife(jayfer) — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Armed guards stood on both sides of the entrance.

The moment the car stopped, one of them opened the door.

“Welcome home, Boss.”

Keifer stepped out first without even glancing at Jay.

Jay slowly got out, still wearing her wedding dress.

Home?

This isn’t a home…

it’s a prison.

A cold breeze sent chills down her spine.

Inside, dozens of maids and bodyguards lined up.

“Good evening, Boss.”

Their voices echoed through the hall.

Keifer walked straight ahead.

“Show Madam to the east wing.”

One of the maids hesitated.

“The…

east wing, Boss?”

Keifer’s icy eyes met hers.

“Did I stutter?”

“N-No, Boss.”

Jay clenched her fists.

“So I’m not even staying in your room?”

Keifer stopped walking but didn’t turn around.

“You are my wife only on paper.

Don’t expect anything else.”

Those words felt like ice.

Jay forced herself not to cry.

“I never wanted this marriage either.”

For a second, silence filled the hall.

Keifer finally looked back.

His expression remained unreadable.

“Good.”

He walked away.

Jay followed the maid upstairs.

The room was beautiful—huge windows, expensive furniture, a king-sized bed—but it felt empty.

The maid placed her luggage inside.

“If Madam needs anything, press the bell.”

Jay nodded weakly.

As soon as the maid left, she sat on the edge of the bed.

The wedding had happened so quickly.

Just yesterday she was free.

Now…

She was the wife of the most feared mafia boss.

A single tear rolled down her cheek.

“I’m going to survive this,” she whispered to herself.

Late that night…

Jay’s stomach growled.

She hadn’t eaten since morning.

Carefully, she left her room and followed the smell of food downstairs.

The dining table was enormous.

Only one person sat there.

Keifer.

He silently cut his steak while reading documents.

Jay pulled out a chair.

The sound echoed.

Keifer looked up.

“You weren’t invited.”

Jay met his gaze.

“I’m hungry.”

He returned to his meal.

“Eat.”

Jay frowned.

“That’s it?”

“What else do you expect?”

She rolled her eyes.

“Maybe basic manners.”

One of the guards nearly choked.

No one had ever spoken to the Boss like that.

Keifer slowly put down his fork.

The room became silent.

Every servant held their breath.

Jay swallowed but refused to look away.

After several long seconds…

Keifer simply continued eating.

“Interesting.”

Jay blinked.

“What?”

“Everyone fears me.”

“I don’t.”

A faint smirk appeared on Keifer’s lips for barely a second before disappearing.

“Let’s see how long that lasts.”

After dinner, Jay returned to her room.

She locked the door.

Outside, footsteps echoed in the hallway.

The mansion was never truly quiet.

As she looked out the window, she noticed dozens of guards patrolling the grounds.

Searchlights swept across the estate.

This wasn’t just a mansion.

It was the headquarters of one of the most powerful mafia families in the country.

Jay hugged herself.

“What kind of life have I been forced into?”

Far below, Keifer stood in the garden speaking to his men.

His face was cold.

His orders were short.

Every man obeyed instantly.

Jay watched silently.

The man who had become her husband looked less like a human…

…and more like the devil everyone feared.
