I have a bad habit when I write: my stories start off really slow.
This is especially true for this book. The world-building is massive, and I’ve finally finished laying the groundwork in these first 50,000 characters.
Because I was trying to lay the groundwork while also including some satisfying, "cool" moments to keep things from getting too dull, I ended up writing a lot of mindless plot points.
Like Jiang Chaosheng going to the restaurant to get Jin Meiting.
Or Su Yutang going on a killing spree after becoming a Vampire.
It all gives off a strong, old-school, "overpowered protagonist" vibe.
To be honest, when I write "cool" moments, they’re usually not this formulaic or emotionally shallow.
My long-time readers know that my stories really hit their stride in the mid-game.

Also, I started writing this book very suddenly.
My family had a sudden financial emergency, so even though I was studying for my grad school entrance exams, I had to find a way to make money immediately.
It only took one day to go from submitting the manuscript to signing the contract. It was all very rushed.
Ahem... my long-time readers will know that many of the character names here are reused from my last book.
The reason is... I hadn’t come up with any new names!!!!
I take naming characters very seriously, so I wanted to ask you all today if I could change Su Yutang’s name to Xia Li.
Because as I’m writing her, I subconsciously start treating Su Yutang like the character from my previous novel.
The "Female President" in this book is a completely different person compared to the one in my last book.
The previous "Female President" was the mature, steady type. This book’s "Female President" is a complete maniac.
I think Xia Li is a pretty fitting name for a Vampire...
It’s like "Summer’s Lilith," hahaha.

For this novel, I’ve learned my lesson from the last one.
The last book was *Demon Club* (the one where ’she wants to buy a beauty potion, so you turn her into a Succubus?’). With that one, I didn’t plan the outline well, and the whole Spiritual Qi Revival arc completely fell apart, which is why it never achieved "Premium" status.
I’ve been working on the outline for this book for a year now, so I’m confident the rest of the story will be solid.
I was originally planning to use this outline to write and support my family after I got into grad school.
So even though I started this book in a rush, please rest assured, I won’t repeat the mistakes I made with the last one.
Next, let’s talk about the novel going premium.
My esteemed readers on Qidian might not understand. ’Why are you going premium at only 50,000 characters? Have you no shame? What a shameless cash grab!’
I know this is definitely unfair to my Qidian readers. After all, once a book goes premium, you have to pay to read it, and I know this isn’t a great value proposition.
I’m truly sorry. The reason is that this novel is premiering on QQ Reading, and Qidian is just a secondary platform.
According to QQ Reading’s rules, a book must go premium at 50,000 characters.
I can’t tell you how many of my peers said this book would flop if I published it on QQ Reading.
They said it isn’t a good fit for that platform—that QQ Reading is for stories in the *Armor Hero* or *Douluo Dalu* vein.

If any character I’ve written so far resembles me, I’d say it’s Jin Meiting. She’s written completely based on my own template.
A lot of readers who know me personally have said that the picture of Jin Meiting I posted looks like it was generated by an AI using my own photo, hahahahaha.
The truth is... Jin Meiting from the Korean manhwa is one of my favorite comic characters.
