After Carmen Kass sat down, Ronan pulled out a chair and sat behind the bearded man.

The banquet hall’s lounge area wasn’t large, and the tables were very close to each other.Full novel: The Entertainment Era — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Because of what happened earlier with Leonardo, Ronan and Carmen Kass were somewhat familiar with each other.

Moreover, Ronan was different from the average American; he didn’t view people from Eastern Europe through tinted glasses.

In his past, the high-quality stock on his hard drive had shown him that Eastern European girls were much better in quality than American babes.

Weren’t girls like Nikia, Angelica, and Milla Azur more pleasing to the eye than those fake-breasted women like Jenna Jameson?

He usually didn’t share these insights with others.

Ronan calmly sized up Carmen Kass.

This Estonian model was tall with long legs, beautiful and classy.

The only drawback was that she wasn’t particularly busty.

But at nearly 1.8 meters tall, that was normal.

Not every woman was like that First Daughter from his past life—both tall and exceptionally busty.

Most women who were on the taller side lacked a bit in the bust department.

Under Ronan’s intentional guidance, Carmen Kass began talking about the impoverished life before and after the dramatic changes in Eastern Europe.

Ronan put on a look of earnest listening—listening to Carmen’s words, but also listening for movement behind him.

The bearded man wasn’t alone and was complaining to someone: “Kate is getting too close to that bastard. That bastard is hitting on women everywhere, yet Kate pretends not to see…”

There was obvious anger in these words.

The more anger, the better.

Ronan maintained his listening posture.

Anyone would feel uncomfortable if their girlfriend, or even fiancée, got too close to a devastatingly handsome heartthrob.

“Life has gradually gotten better over the last two years,” Carmen Kass said with a smile.

“My modeling career is also on the right track. I was invited to attend tonight by the brand I’m endorsing, but I didn’t expect to run into Leonardo.”

Clearly, this girl, not yet twenty, was very disgusted by Leonardo’s behavior of hitting on other women before coming to hit on her.

Tonight, as well as last time, Leonardo’s words and actions also made Ronan very disgusted.

Ronan raised his voice slightly, his throat raspy, and said, “People like Leonardo are too full of themselves. Carmen, you’d better stay away from him.”

The bearded man’s words behind him suddenly stopped.

Carmen Kass was a bit puzzled.

Since sitting down, why had Ronan’s voice suddenly become raspy?

She remained calm and nodded.

“Hmm.”

Ronan winked at Carmen and said, “Do you know how much of a bastard Leonardo is? After failing to hit on you, he dragged Kate Winslet to the terrace. Everyone says those two are involved in something shady; they might even be fooling around on the terrace right now.”

Just as Carmen Kass was about to respond, a man sitting opposite her with his back to her suddenly stood up and hurried toward the terrace.

What was going on?

She was a bit confused.

Ronan reached out and grabbed her.

“Let’s go, let’s go watch the show.” He specifically added, “Leonardo’s show.”

Being grabbed by someone she had just met, Carmen Kass felt it was a bit abrupt, but upon hearing that last sentence, she stood up naturally and was led by Ronan toward the terrace.

“What’s going on?” she asked in a low voice.

Ronan followed the bearded man from a distance and said, “That person in front is Kate Winslet’s fiancé.”

“Uh…” Carmen immediately understood and leaned closer to Ronan.

“You did that on purpose, didn’t you?”

Ronan pulled her around a crowd and through two other circles, asking, “Don’t you like seeing Leonardo have bad luck?”

Come to think of it, if Carmen hadn’t first discovered Leonardo fooling around with another woman, who knows how things would have developed.

Carmen nodded slightly as she walked.

“He needs a lesson.”

Following behind Ronan, she felt excited and full of anticipation for what was about to happen.

This person named Ronan Anderson wasn’t very old, but he was very interesting.

Hmm…

seems like he’s very calculating.

This is both an advantage and a disadvantage.

People who are calculating have many thoughts; people who aren’t are often too simple.

Her experience in the modeling industry had confirmed one thing: simple people are mostly losers in life.

Ronan’s thoughts were actually very simple: since he had met such a woman, it would be best if he could hook up with her; if not, he wouldn’t force it.

After all, his main focus at this stage was on his startup.

As for Leonardo, when the opportunity arose, he wouldn’t miss it, regardless of whether Carmen Kass was there or not.

“Leonardo!” Before they even reached the terrace, Ronan heard an angry British roar: “You bastard!”

“Quick!” He tugged at Carmen.

Carmen followed Ronan, taking a few quick steps, and then heard a female voice: “Jim Threapleton!”

This sound startled many people.

People near the terrace all looked over, and some curious ones even walked a few steps closer.

Ronan didn’t get too close and stopped when they reached a place where five or six people were gathered.

This position had a great angle, allowing him to see everything happening on the terrace.

Just in time, the bearded man’s fist, having bypassed Kate Winslet’s attempt to block, landed heavily on Leonardo’s left eye.

Carmen quickly covered her mouth, appearing very shocked, but in reality, she was hiding the smile on her face.

Leonardo was stunned; he never expected that anyone would dare to lay a hand on a $1.5 billion leading man!

Kate Winslet had dared to openly cohabit with a man at sixteen; her thinking was far more mature than Leonardo’s, but a woman’s strength meant she couldn’t exert much influence at this moment.

The bearded man, called Jim Threapleton, landed another fist on Leonardo’s right eye.

Leonardo, wearing a black suit, instantly transformed from Black Cat Sheriff into a giant panda.

Ah—

Leonardo’s scream came over.

Carmen gripped Ronan’s arm tightly with one hand and covered her mouth with the other, her shoulders shaking slightly as if she were struggling to hold back her laughter.

“Enough! Jim Threapleton! Stop it! Enough!”

Kate Winslet erupted with a lion-like roar, and only then did Leonardo react and try to fight back.

The two men were brawling with a woman in between them.

More people gathered around to watch the spectacle, and acquaintances from both sides entered the terrace to act as peacemakers.

Ronan knew clearly that it was about to stop and whispered to Carmen, “Let’s go.”

Carmen nodded and followed Ronan as he squeezed out of the crowd, heading toward the banquet hall entrance.

Once out of the banquet hall, the corridor was empty.

Carmen could no longer hold it in; she leaned on Ronan’s arm and laughed, laughing until tears were almost flowing.

Ronan was also laughing.

How could one hold back from laughing at such a good event?

“Did you see Leonardo?” Carmen held Ronan’s arm, very happy.

“He actually hid behind a woman!”

A waiter turned into the corridor.

Ronan raised a finger in a shushing gesture.

Carmen Kass immediately stopped.

The two linked arms, looking very much like a gentleman and a lady, and quickly left the corridor. This chapter is updated first at g.com.

“Finally, I got some satisfaction!” Carmen Kass said again.

Ronan nodded, sharing the same hatred: “That little brat is really unlikable.”

“Haha…” Carmen left a trail of crisp laughter and then asked, “How old are you? You’re not older than Leonardo, are you?”

“Twenty,” Ronan said directly.

Carmen Kass stared at him.

“Doesn’t seem like it.”

Ronan asked deliberately, “Do I look that old?”

“I mean…” Carmen Kass didn’t know how to phrase it for a moment.

After entering the hotel lobby, arm-in-arm with Ronan, she said, “You are more mature than Leonardo. Compared to you, he’s like a little brat who hasn’t grown up.”

Ronan replied, “Is that a compliment? I’ll take it.”

Carmen Kass laughed.

“Let’s just consider it a compliment.”

The two arrived at the hotel entrance, and Ronan asked at the right moment, “Do you need me to take you home?”

“Thanks, no need.” Carmen Kass was, after all, in the modeling industry, and her reason for declining was very sufficient: “My Agent is waiting for me outside in the car.”

Ronan didn’t insist.

Just like when he went to Abu Dhabi for financing, if one wants to be an excellent hunter, patience is always the most basic quality.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Carmen,” he said with great poise.

“It’s been a pleasant evening.”

For Carmen Kass, tonight had been pleasant at the start, a bit troublesome later on, and very interesting after meeting Ronan.

“Hmm, very pleasant.” Carmen was a model from Eastern Europe, and any shyness or introversion was long gone.

She said very straightforwardly, “You are more interesting than any Americans I know.”

“Thanks.” Ronan had discovered that it seemed people other than Americans quite liked him.

For example, the Arabs, and this Estonian, Carmen Kass.

Hmm…

the Americans who would be truly popular in the future, especially in Hollywood, were those who championed minority rights far more than the mainstream white Americans.

I am on the right path.

In a couple of years, I can reach out to my Black friends, and when appropriate, express respect for LGBT—things like lesbian relationships are quite lovely anyway.

Ronan asked at the right moment, “Carmen, can an interesting person call you?”

Carmen laughed.

“I didn’t bring any business cards.” She then recited a string of numbers.

“This is my personal mobile number. It might not go through sometimes; I don’t carry my phone when I’m working.”

Ronan tapped his forehead.

“I’ve got it.”

Carmen raised her hand and waved her slender fingers.

“Goodbye.”

Ronan helped her open the glass door.

“Goodbye.”

The girl got into a car and soon disappeared from sight.

Ronan quickly took out his phone, saved the number, dialed it once to confirm it rang, hung up, and sent a text message.

Since she didn’t refuse his request for her number, it was a good start.

Carmen Kass probably hadn’t reached the A-list yet, and for someone like him who was still struggling with a startup, there might be an opportunity.

Ronan certainly knew how to distinguish priorities; he wouldn’t chase relentlessly, nor would he invest too much energy.

Career was the most important thing.

Having experienced the society of his past life, where love was highly materialistic, some of his perceptions were already deeply rooted.
