Mu Beixuan’s face turned red with anger, alternating between pale and flushed. He, the dignified Northern Profound Heavenly Venerable, was actually mocked by a mere mortal. This was an unbearable humiliation.

“Hmph, how could ants like you fathom this Heavenly Venerable?” Mu Beixuan said coldly, suppressing his fury. “This Heavenly Venerable will not waste words with you, a lowly mortal. The evil spirit here, you handle it yourself!”

After speaking, he flicked his sleeve and turned away, striding off with large steps.Full novel: The Female Leads Regret After the Villain Severed Ties, Leaving the Protagonist Broken — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Today he had lost face completely. A cultivator of the Late Tribulation Realm, disgraced in such a place. What unsettled him most was that he still had no idea what was happening. He urgently needed to return and check why his spiritual Qi had suddenly disappeared.

Lu Chen watched his retreating figure and said indifferently, “You think you can spout nonsense here and leave so easily? What do you take this place for?”

Mu Beixuan froze mid-step, slowly turned, and glared coldly at Lu Chen. “What, do you want to stop this Heavenly Venerable from leaving?”

Lu Chen glanced at him calmly. “You falsely accuse Yuhua Manor of having evil spirits. If such rumors spread and my houses can’t be sold, will you compensate me?”

Hearing this, Mu Beixuan’s expression darkened further. He shouted, “What does a mortal like you understand? I was saving you!”

Lu Chen shook his head. “Truly delusional.” He looked at the security captain and ordered, “Beat him until he wakes up.”

The security captain still had shadows lingering in his heart and hesitated. “CEO Lu, I…”

“Hit.” Lu Chen’s brows furrowed slightly, his voice carrying weight.

The security captain gritted his teeth after a moment of hesitation and rushed at Mu Beixuan.

Mu Beixuan sneered coldly, just as he was about to strike back, he remembered—he couldn’t use any techniques now! He hurriedly dodged and shouted, “This Venerable does not harm mortals, back away quickly!”

The captain froze, then sneered. “So you’re nothing but a fraud pretending to be a deity. Watch how I deal with you!” He swung a heavy fist at him.

Mu Beixuan frantically dodged, not daring to clash head-on. Without spiritual Qi, he was just an ordinary young man. While dodging, he shouted, “Don’t force this Heavenly Venerable! If you keep pushing, don’t blame me for being rude!”

The captain ignored him completely and ordered the other guards to join in. Mu Beixuan could no longer care about his image.

Dodging clumsily, he shouted, “Stop! Stop now!”

But the more he cried out, the more the guards believed he was afraid, and their attacks grew fiercer.

Helpless without any techniques, Mu Beixuan was quickly restrained. The captain sneered, rolled up his sleeves, and slapped him hard across the face several times.

Slap! Slap! Slap!

The crisp sounds echoed loudly.

“You dare slap me!?” Mu Beixuan’s eyes burned with fury, as if they could kill. He, Northern Profound Heavenly Venerable, had never been humiliated like this. This chapter was copied from novelping(.)com without permission.

“Bah! Slap you again and again! Heavenly Venerable? You’re just a swindler pretending to be divine. Deceiving us, you deserve death!” The captain spat a mouthful of old phlegm onto his face.

Mu Beixuan froze, feeling the hot filth on his cheek. He, a cultivator of the Late Tribulation Realm, was being beaten and even spat on by mere mortals. He could hardly believe it.

More slaps from the captain jolted him back to reality. His eyes turned blood-red with hatred. “Damn it! You mortals! You all deserve death!”

The captain kicked him hard, sending him sprawling, then sat astride his stomach and pounded his fists into his face. “I’ll beat you to death, you fraud!”

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

The scene was bizarre. The once imposing, arrogant Mu Beixuan now lay on the ground, covering his head like a rat, as the captain and several guards rained blows on him.

His face swelled, blood poured, and his screams filled the air. “Stop! Stop, don’t hit me!” His voice was filled with terror. The pain was unbearable; even his bones felt as if they were breaking.

The guards didn’t stop. Instead, their blows grew fiercer. Mu Beixuan had never endured such humiliation. His eyes were bloodshot with rage as he struggled to escape, but several large hands dragged him back again and again.

“Stop! Stop at once! If you keep this up, I’ll call the police!” he screamed hysterically, his voice filled with grief and fury.

The captain slapped him again, roaring, “You broke into private property and you dare call the police? This is self-defense!” He followed with more slaps.

Mu Beixuan’s nose bled, his teeth loosened, and finally he dared not move anymore. He glared at them with bloodshot eyes, shouting, “You will pay for this! You will definitely pay for this!”

The captain laughed and stomped on his face. “Pay? Pay what? I’d like to see it.”

He stomped several more times, leaving Mu Beixuan fuming to the point of exploding, yet powerless.

A cultivator of the Late Tribulation Realm beaten by mortals like this—if word spread, his dignity would be ruined forever. Gritting his teeth, he roared, “You fools! You will regret this!”

The captain mocked him, “Regret? Take a piss and look at yourself in a mirror!” He kicked him a few more times.

Mu Beixuan’s face was pressed into the dirt, smeared with blood and soil, his clothes torn, his expression utterly broken.

“Enough,” Lu Chen said lightly.

The captain immediately stopped and stepped back respectfully. “CEO Lu, do you want us to take this guy to the police station?”

“No,” Lu Chen waved his hand. “Send him straight to Qingshan Mental Hospital.”

“Yes,” the captain answered. Several guards pinned Mu Beixuan, ready to escort him away.

“Surname Lu! I’ll remember you!” Mu Beixuan suddenly struggled, glaring venomously at Lu Chen. “Just wait, soon I’ll grind your bones to ashes!”

A few minutes later, Mu Beixuan lay on the ground, swollen and bruised, gasping, his eyes filled with hatred as he glared at Lu Chen. He hated him, hated him more than anything. He had never been humiliated like this, and all of it was because of this insignificant mortal.

Lu Chen yawned lazily. “Take him away.”

“Yes, CEO Lu!” Two guards answered, dragging Mu Beixuan toward the exit.

“You bastards! This is illegal! You can’t send me to a mental hospital! I’ll sue you!” Mu Beixuan cursed hysterically as he was dragged away, but the guards ignored him. In Yanjing City, CEO Lu’s word was law.

They stuffed Mu Beixuan into the trunk, locked it, then got in the car and drove straight toward the mental hospital.

Lu Chen patted the captain’s shoulder. “You did well today.”

Hearing this, the captain’s heart leapt with joy. “CEO Lu, you flatter me. It’s just my duty. Villains must be punished.”

“What’s your name?” Lu Chen asked.

“Wang Qiang.”

Lu Chen nodded. “From tomorrow, you’ll be promoted and given a raise.”

“Thank you, CEO Lu!” Wang Qiang’s eyes filled with tears of excitement. He never thought CEO Lu would appreciate him and even promote him.

Lu Chen smiled faintly. “The last time at Emperor Group, the one who slapped the Liu family’s son-in-law, that was you, wasn’t it?”

“Yes, CEO Lu, that was me!” Wang Qiang answered, inwardly grateful for his decisiveness then.

“Good. Keep it up. I’ll be watching you,” Lu Chen said.

“Yes, CEO Lu! I’ll never let you down!” Wang Qiang straightened his back proudly.

Lu Chen patted his shoulder before walking toward the villa. Wang Qiang gazed at his back with admiration, swearing in his heart that he would never betray CEO Lu’s trust. He didn’t even realize that he had now slapped the faces of two Dragon Kings all on his own. For a security captain, this was truly the peak.

…

Meanwhile, at the hospital.

Chen Mengyao still sat at the entrance in a daze. Her eyes were lost, her beautiful face filled with conflict, hesitation, and helplessness.
