As for the remaining roasted sweet potatoes, Yan Jin only needed to place them in the oven and set the timer. Before long, they were automatically roasted. It was extremely convenient.
The roasted sweet potatoes that came out smelled just as good as the ones she had roasted herself.
Yan Jin placed the cooked dishes into simple white porcelain bowls. Looking at the large bowl of braised lamb with napa cabbage, she nodded in satisfaction.
“Time to eat!” Yan Jin called softly to Bai Ruozhu, who was still standing there in a daze.
At the same time, Yan Jin arranged the bowls and chopsticks neatly in front of each seat. “Come quickly and try my cooking!”
Bai Ruozhu eagerly picked up a piece of meat from the porcelain bowl. The meat melted the moment it entered her mouth. A wave of warmth rose from her stomach, making her feel as though she were wrapped in warm sunlight.
Seeing how happily Bai Ruozhu was eating, Yan Jin also picked up a piece of meat and tasted it herself. It was indeed quite good.
At that moment, the system’s electronic voice sounded inappropriately.
[Ding. Consuming mutated mountain goat meat, Constitution +1.]
[Each portion of cooked mutated goat meat has a chance to increase constitution and also has a certain probability of granting wind type abilities.]
“Sister, does that mean all mutated animals can be eaten?” Bai Ruozhu asked. Perhaps in the future they might even get to eat other kinds of meat.
“Mutated animals cannot be eaten directly. They must first be processed to remove the mutated virus in their bodies.”
While the two of them were enjoying their meal, Yu Chen hesitated outside the kitchen for quite a while. He had already smelled the aroma of meat earlier, but he felt embarrassed to ask if he could join them for a meal.
Seeing his hopeful expression, Yan Jin put down her bowl.
“Mr. Yu, is there something you need?”
“Do you sell your dishes?” Yu Chen did not beat around the bush. He leaned forward slightly and asked directly.
He had only eaten a piece of bread early in the morning and was already starving. Moreover, ever since the apocalypse began, he had not eaten meat even once.
Yan Jin remembered that there was still food left in the pot that had not been served.
“One portion of braised lamb with napa cabbage is 50 gold coins. Roasted sweet potatoes are 5 gold coins each. Stir fried vegetables are 12 gold coins. Do you want any?”
“Do you have rice?” Yu Chen asked.
Yan Jin shook her head. The rice had not been planted yet. She did not even have rice to eat herself.
Yu Chen felt somewhat disappointed, but he quickly cheered up again. Even without rice, roasted sweet potatoes and meat were already very good.
“I will take one portion of braised lamb with napa cabbage and five roasted sweet potatoes.”
Yan Jin prepared the dishes according to his request, then said, “That will be 75 gold coins in total. Please come again.”
After swiping his card, Yu Chen returned to his room carrying the fragrant dishes.
After finishing lunch like a whirlwind, the two of them leaned back in their chairs, completely full and satisfied.
It was so delicious.
It felt as though she had returned to the days before the apocalypse. Yan Jin reminisced while sighing with emotion.
Just as Bai Ruozhu stood up to clear the bowls, her vision suddenly blurred. With a loud clang, she nearly fell to the ground.
“Sister, why do I feel strange all over?” After saying that, Bai Ruozhu fainted.
“What… what happened?” Yan Jin quickly caught Bai Ruozhu as she collapsed into her arms.
Could it be that she was awakening an ability?
Yan Jin felt somewhat nervous. She had not expected Bai Ruozhu to be so lucky that she would awaken an ability after eating it only once.
[Ding. Newbie Mission 3: Host must unlock the second room.]
“Unlock the second room?” She opened the panel and saw that another room could now be unlocked.
When she clicked on it, she discovered that it required 1000 gold coins to unlock.
[System, come out here. I promise I will not beat you to death!]
[Dear Host, please unlock the second room as soon as possible. It will help you earn more gold coins.]
Yan Jin was speechless.
[Ding. Host, would you like to unlock the second room?]
[Yes]
In an instant, the gold coins she had just accumulated were reduced by more than half. Yan Jin not only felt pain in her heart but also a deep sense of frustration, silently complaining about how stingy the system was.
[Ding. Newbie Mission 3: Unlock the second room. Completed.]
[Mission reward: 500 gold coins.]
[Obtained “Lucky Triple Draw” x1. Would the host like to activate it?]
This time, Yan Jin was no longer as nervous as she had been during the first draw. She rubbed her hands together and pressed Confirm.
Two two star cards and one five star card immediately appeared.
“What! There is actually a five star card?”
Before she could clearly see what the five star card was, the cards on the screen flipped over and began shuffling continuously.
Yan Jin’s heart pounded loudly in her chest as she silently chanted, “Five star card, five star card!”
[Ding. Congratulations, Host. You have drawn a five star card reward.]
