He has now found another purpose in life, before going he warned him repeatedly to be careful.

Barry lay in bed, not alone.

A girl slept against him, her chest rising and falling steadily, her brown hair curled like silk across his skin.

For a moment, he just watched her.

The calm on her face was rare, fragile.

He smiled faintly, brushing a strand of hair from her cheek before slipping out of bed with practiced care.

In the kitchen, he moved with the quiet familiarity of someone who belonged.

Pans, spices, eggs—he knew where everything was.

He cracked shells, whisked, flipped.

Breakfast was routine, grounding.

But it wasn’t for him alone. It was for Thea as well.

Yes, the girl he was sleeping with was Thea Queen.

Because of Barry, her life was very different.

Like the original she was devastated when her father, and brother were presumed dead.

The difference: Barry was there for her in time of need, she did not fall into drugs, instead Barry convinced her mother and took her to MIT to study.

Thea was also very smart, Barry distracted her grief and pushed it into studies, she passed with distinction in business studies.

Barry did leave, but he kept in touch and she understood.

Now she is gradually taking over Queen consolidated, Felicity is also helping her.

He also gave her the Serum gamma, bolstering her abilities.

She also learned martial arts, she was a Natural born warrior and like a sponge absorbed experience like no other.

Naturally now that to Barry distance is no longer a problem, he went to her that same night and told her.

The scent of cooking filled the air as Barry flipped an omelet.

That was when arms slid around his waist, soft but firm.

“What’re you doing?” Thea’s sleepily pressed into his back.

“Breakfast,” Barry said lightly.

He set a plate down and turned, his eyes meeting hers.

“For my Speedy.” He kissed her, and she reciprocated.

“I’m starving,” she teased, snatching the plate.

Barry already had his own waiting on the table.

“Did the lightning make you hungrier?” she asked between bites.

His appetite was already huge; now it was relentless.

“Yes and no,” Barry replied, sitting opposite her.

Thea arched her brow.

“That doesn’t make sense.”

“It’s not just the lightning.

The serum I took amplifies it too.

But…” He tapped the table, almost casually.

“I’ve found an alternative.” Barry has asked his team regarding this problem.

Also he is now actively able to absorb Omega energy, the scar on his hand lit up a little when he absorbs it but it has been very slow

Thea chewed silently, processing.

Barry let the quiet sit before shifting the subject.

“How’s it going with Oliver?” His tone was gentle.

Her fork froze midair.

“Don’t mention him.” Thea actually found out Oliver’s alter-ego

“Just talk to him.

You’ll understand.”

“But you told me your secret,” she said sharply.

“Why not him?”

Barry held her gaze, his voice even but gentle.

” He went through things neither of us can fully understand on that hell of an island… and secrecy became his way of protecting the people he loves.

Believe me, if it was just about trust—I haven’t even told Iris.”

Thea went silent again, pushing food around her plate.

Barry didn’t press further.

Barry leaned forward slightly, reassuring.

“He cares too much about you, maybe in the only way he knows how.”

Thea exhaled, torn between frustration and reluctant understanding.

“…I still don’t like it.”

“How about this, you tell him about your strength.

When he knows you can protect yourself maybe he will share his thoughts” Barry suggested, she has not told her about near superhuman strength

Thea nodded, she will think about it

When breakfast was done, Barry stood and grabbed his jacket.

“I have to go.”

“This early?

Going to meet Carol?

What about Felicity?” Her tone soured a little

“No,” Barry said calmly.

“I already saw them.

Now it’s time for work.” Barry found it strange, Thea is okay with Felicity being with him but when it comes to Carol she gets jealous, everytime they meet they are like fire and ice.

“So I’m last?” she asked, mock-anger in her voice.

Barry leaned in and kissed her, deeper than intended.

“Best for last.” Barry looked into her eyes and the fire inside of him ignited once again This chapter was taken from g.com without permission.

Thea blushed, half-annoyed, half-flustered.

“Stop—you’re going to be late.” She was still sore from last night.

“I’m never late,” Barry smirked, ignoring her protest as he swept her into his arms.

Later, Barry was late.

The police were already swarming the crime scene—though not because of Thea.

He had another job before this one.

Barry had just entered Central City, when he got a call from Cisco

“What you got for me cisco” Barry answered the call

“There is a fire on Western and 3rd in downtown Central City, The firefighters won’t make it on time” Cisco said looking at his monitors

“On it” Barry increased his speed, currently he was only wearing the special boots.

The rest of the suit was at the lab.

He first dashed to take his suit and then rushed to the building, not even a minute passed.

Ever since that day his speed was increasing exponentially, currently he can instantly accelerate to Mach 10 without breaking a sweat, and it’s still increasing.

He has not told his team, so as to not alert Thwane.

Barry sees a firetruck on its way but it will be late, he zooms by it leaving a trail of Violet-gold lightning.

“What was that?” the firefighter driving the truck asks his partner.

“I don’t know,”

Barry reaches the building, most of the people already evacuated.

Panicked and called for help.

Barry looks up at the building and sees it engulfed in flames as thick, black smoke covers the air above the building.

“Are you there yet?” Cisco asks as Barry runs past the panicked people creating a strong gust of wind, causing all of them to simultaneously turn to see what caused it but by the time they noticed they only saw people magically appearing from the building.

A mother anxiously looking for her daughter, “Mommy!” she shouts getting her desperate mother’s attention who is relieved to see her daughter safe.

Back at S.T.A.R.

Labs, Caitlin enters the cortex with a cup in her hand and hears Cisco talking to someone.

“What are you doing?” she asks.

Surprised, Cisco immediately turns off all the monitors and turns to look at her.

With guilt written all over his face, he tries to quickly come up with something.

“Nothing.” Is all that he could come up with as he puts his lollipop in his mouth.

“Who were you talking to?” Caitlin asks.

“No one,” Cisco says, trying his best not to break.

“Are you talking to Barry?” Caitlin asks.

“Who?” Cisco asks.

Clearly, his brain has stopped working to come up with such stupid questions.

“Barry Allen?

Struck by lightning?

Was in a coma for nine months?

Woke being able to run faster than speed of sound?

Ring a bell?” Caitlin tone increasing sharply

“Nope, Haven’t talked to him” Cisco continued to act stupid

“Everybody’s out.

What else have you got for me?” Barry voice sounded in the cortex through the coms

Cisco knew his gig was over, he closed his eyes, waiting for the inevitable.

Caitlin was getting icy by the second.

“Barry, it’s Caitlin” Caitlin said to Barry over the comms

On the other side, Barry froze for a second.

Barry and Cisco have not informed anyone else of their activities

“Caitlin, want some coffee” Barry also tried to act dumb

“Get back to S.T.A.R.

Labs.

Now.” Caitlin anger could be felt on the comms

“Yes Maam” Barry darted towards the inevitable.

S.T.A.R.

Labs

Barry entered the cortex seeing Cisco, Their eyes met, communicating he motioned towards his neck meaning they were in trouble.

Barry looked behind him, his eyes met another pair of chilling eyes, seething with anger

“Have you both lost your minds?Who do you think you are?” Caitlin started scolding both of them

“Well, I’m the eyes and ears, and he’s the feet.” Cisco explained jokingly, trying to alleviate her anger

“This isn’t funny.

You could have gotten yourself killed. You can’t be running around the city like some supersonic fireman.” Caitlin tried to make them understand the gravity of their actions

“Why not? This is what we talked about: Me using my speed to do good.” Barry said

“We talked about you helping us contain other people who might have been affected by the particle accelerator explosion …

.Meta-humans …

.And aside from Clyde Mardon, we haven’t found any.

“If I was not there today many people would’ve died in that fire, I could not do nothing watching them die.

We can help them.” Barry tried to explain them

“Will you please say something?” Caitlin turned to her boss, Dr.

Wells

“I think what Caitlin is saying, in her own spectacularly angry way, is that we are just beginning to understand what your body is capable of.

Not to sound like a broken record, Dr.

“I still haven’t found my limits, how could I restraint myself” Barry said helplessly, during this time he has gotten used to seeing Wells he can restrain himself perfectly but can also ma

“In due time Dr.

Allen” Dr.

Wells said patiently

“Don’t expect me to patch you up every time you break something.” Caitlin angrily retorted, but to Barry she was cute, like an angry kitten whose tail was stepped on

“Cisco, where we have been with those energy bars” Barry had told his predicament to his team and asked cisco for concentrated source of calories

“Yes here I whipped up these energy bars here… also you phone has been buzzing” Cisco handed him the energy bar, also his phone

“Thanks” Barry saw the caller was Joe Shit I am late he knew why he would call

“Guys my day call beckons.

See you later” Barry hurriedly changes his suit and dashed off, In few seconds he was at the crime scene

“Hey, Joe!” Barry jogged in “Sorry—lost track of time.”

Before Joe could respond, Captain Singh sharp voice sounded

“What’s the situation, Joe?”

Joe kept his tone steady, ignoring Barry for the moment.

“Perp made off with at least six Glock 19s.

Extra magazines, too.

Somebody’s gearing up for something bad.”

Barry slipped on gloves, pulled his PPE into place, and ducked under the yellow tape.

His eyes swept the scene with quiet focus.

“I’ve got the surveillance footage,” Eddie announced as he entered, holding up a tablet.

He showed Singh and Joe a clip of a masked man shooting the victim.

Meanwhile, Barry crouched low, studying the floor.

“Looks like only one perp,” Eddie added.

Barry didn’t answer right away.

His gaze caught on an odd patch of dust, disturbed more than once.

Shoe prints crisscrossed in different directions.

He straightened, looking.

Joe noticed his look.

“What is it, Barry?”

Barry pointed to the floor.

“The camera shows one guy.

But this… this was six.” He signaled to a tech.

“Get samples here.

Cast these shoe impressions.”

Barry continued.

“See?

Multiple tracks crossing.

Six sets.

Six guns stolen.

This isn’t one perp—it’s a crew.”

He knelt, brushing the edge of a print.

“All men’s size tens.

Standard-issue oxfords.”

Captain Singh regarded him, expression softening slightly.

“Good work, Dr.

Allen, glad you are back” Without another word, Singh turned and walked off.

Barry and Joe walked back into the precinct.

“Where were you this morning?” Joe asked, giving him a side-eye.

“Lost on the road of life,” Barry said without thinking, his mind still turning over the crime scene—dust, tracks, the possibility of a meta.

Joe blinked.

“What?”

“Nothing.

Just… researching my speed,” Barry said quickly.

Joe sighed.

“Yeah about that,I am still trying to wrap my head around this.

I used to think life was simple.

Gravity makes things fall.

Water makes things wet.

And up until a few weeks ago, I believed the fastest a man could run a mile was four minutes.

Not four seconds.” His voice carried the weight of someone lamenting just how complicated life had become.

“I could do it in less than one second,” Barry replied matter-of-factly.

Joe ignored him.

“You haven’t told Iris about any of this, right?”

“No.

I promised I wouldn’t,” Barry reassured him.

“Good.

Then get back to your lab and process the evidence from that gun store,” Joe said, slipping back into his stern-cop mode.

Barry joked.

“Yes, Your Highness.” He jogged off down the hall, leaving Joe muttering under his breath and shaking his head with a sigh.
