Barry opened his eyes. The world was gone.
In its place stretched a storm of endless lightning and infinity.
No ground beneath him — only a river of living light, racing endlessly, each step sending ripples through time itself.
Flashes of his past, glimpses of futures not yet written, fractured across the current like shards of glass.
The storm didn’t just surround him — it pulsed with his breath, beat with his heart.
For the first time, Barry felt it: something vast, alive, eternal… and it was watching.
The lightning cracked, glowing plane filled with streams of orange, blue, Violet, and yellow lightning.
Barry observed carefully, he actually knew where he was
“Speed force” Barry muttered, but it was echoing as if the world acknowledged
Suddenly he found himself in a familiar place, His old home where he lived with his mother and father as a child.
Memories from deep within flooded to his brain, the nightmare that he thought he had looked came back gushing.
“Your’e here” Barry was lost in memories, he heard an unforgettable voice
“Mom” Barry who kept his composure even in the face of death, cracked his eyes widened in shock an emotional turmoil was building inside of him
“We thought you would feel comfortable talking to someone familiar” The women who looked and sounded like Nora Allen, Barry’s mother
“You are not her” Reason came back, Barry’s eyes regained clarity from the emotional outburst.
“We are not” She replied while smiling, “come here have a seat” She invited him to sit on sofa adjacent to her
Barry sat down on the sofa, everything around him felt real.
He looked around and everything was very trippy, like it was there but not there.
“Who are you?
And where am I?” Barry asked
“When the first subatomic particle sprang forth from the Big Bang to form reality as you know it, we were there.
When the last proton decays, stops vibrating, and plunges the universe into heat death, we’ll be there too.”
“You are the Speed Force” Barry affirms his thoughts
“It seems you knew about us” Speed Force acknowledged
“What am I doing here?” Barry was confused, he just got hit by lightning.
“Because, Barry we need to talk”
“Talk about what?”
“About you Barry.” Speed Force tone became serious “Barry Allen you are an Anomaly”
“Anomaly?”
“We know about everything that has happened, is happening and will happen.
Among infinite universes there are infinite Barry Allen, we know their past, their present, their future.
But you are different, Barry Allen you among the infinite multiverse are the only who is not bound by fate– An Anomaly”
Barry knew he was different, his connection to that Abyssal Space made him something else.
After his initial enhancement he was able to voluntarily enter the Void.
Admittedly he could only stay for an hour of real world time, equivalent to twenty four hours in that space.
In that space he was without restraints, he could do anything and everything to his absolute limit anything that happened in that space remained there, except for memories.
He slowly rubbed the scar on his hand.
“So is it a good thing or bad thing?” Barr wanted to be sure.
“We don’t know; everything depends on you Barry, your choices will decide” Speed Force smiled at him
“But it’s also an opportunity”
“For what?”
“For change, for growth, for something different…… It seems like our time is up” Speed Force stopped, Barry wanted to say something but his vision changed.
Darkness engulfed him; he saw the mark on his hand glowing an even darker, ominous light.
Suddenly there was a blinding light, Barry felt himself walking up.
He did not immediately open his eyes, he felt his surroundings and heard two distinct voices, a man and a woman, and background music.
Lady Gaga.
Great
The two people were Francisco Ramon, and Dr.
Caitlin Snow, Employees of S.T.A.R.
Labs
“What are you doing?” Caitlin asked, questioning why Cisco played this song
“He likes this song,” Cisco said, smirking.
Caitlin raised an eyebrow.
“How could you possibly know that?”
“I checked his Facebook page,” Cisco said casually.
“I mean… he can hear everything, right?”
Not my favourite song, but I like it Barry thought, he doesn’t update his facebook page, this was selected by Iris
Caitlin replied.
“Auditory functions are the last sensory faculties to degenerate.”
♪ “Can’t read my… no he can’t read my poker…” ♪ Cisco started singing
Barry now understood where he is, so he opens his eyes, the world around him starts to become clear initial blurriness fades away as he slowly straightens his back
Caitlin gasped, hand flying to her mouth.
“Oh my God!”
“He’s up,” Caitlin said, she began assessing his vitals
“Dr.
Caitlin checked his pulse, using a light pen she was assessing his pupillary reflexes “Pulse 120… pupils equally reactive to light.”
“I think I am fine ma’am” Barry just let them do their assessment, but he understand his body and his current body condition is better than ever
“Where am I ?” Barry questioned.
“You’re in S.T.A.R Labs” Cisco replied gently helping him, and taking of his monitor chips
Barry gazed at the two people in room “S.T.A.R.
Labs?
Who… who are you?”
“I’m Cisco Ramon,” the young man said.
“And she’s Caitlin… Dr.
Snow.”
Caitlin handed him a container.
“I need you to… urinate in this.”
Barry raised a brow at her, Cisco took the container ” Not this Second” giving Barry some space
“Last thing I remember was….
Being in my lab than….
I think I got hit by a lightning a bolt” Barry placed his hand on his head, as if trying to jolt his memories
“Not a single one, dude, nine times..
You were struck by lightning nine time ” Cisco said grinningly
Barry slowly stood up and stretched his body, his muscle and joints cracked and felt his strength his just lightly pressed the bed and it broke
“I am sorry, I did not mean this to happen” Barry apologized, the sudden increase in strength caught him off guard.
Caitlin shook her head, eyes glued to his awesome eight pack abs.
“Your muscles should be atrophied, but instead… they’re regenerating.
Unexplained cellular activity.” Caitlin pressed his various muscle group assessing them
“Come here.
Have a seat,” Cisco said softly, pulling a seat for Barry “You were in a coma.”
“For how long?” Barry was not sure his sense of time was mingled in Speed Force, than he felt someone else coming into the Medbay
“Nine months,” a person came in a wheelchair, “Welcome back, Dr.
Allen.”
Barry knew the person in front of him, Harrison Wells or his true identity Eobard Thawne the person who murdered his mom.
The killing Intent boiled inside Barry but he refused to show it outwards.
Now was not the time
“It’s a pleasure meeting you Dr.
Wells.” Barry greeted him, without losing his composure patience, Barry you need to be patient Barry hypnotized himself
“As have I Dr.
Allen, your contribution to the scientific world is remarkable” Harrison was really impressed by Barry’s implicit, impressed and frightened
“Shall we go for a walk” Dr Wells invited “or a roll” he said pointing to his wheelchair.
Barry nodded he put on a S.T.A.R lab sweatshirt, that Caitlin brought
As they were moving, Wells explained
“S.T.A.R.
Labs have not been operational since FEMA categorized us as a class four hazardous location.
Seventeen people died that night.
Many more were injured.
Myself amongst them.”
“What happened?”
“Nine months ago, the particle accelerator went online exactly as planned. For forty-five minutes, I had achieved my life’s dream.
And then there was an anomaly.
The electron volts became unmeasurable…” Dr.
Wells began explaining, while they were looking over the remains of the particle accelerator
“The ring burst open.
Energy from the detonation was thrown into the sky.
It seeded a storm cloud that created lightning bolts…
that struck me” Barry finished the rest, he understood when he saw the state of the field stabilizer.
“Yes, you have a sharp eye” Dr.
Wells nodded ” I was recovering from my own accident when I heard about yours. The hospital was undergoing unexplainable power outages every time you were going into cardiac arrest, which was actually a misdiagnosis.
You see, you weren’t flatlining, Barry.
Your heartbeat was moving too fast for the EKG meter to register it.”
“Did the lightning somehow alter my physiology?” Barry tried to sound curious about himself.
“We don’t know.
We need to run some tests to be sure,” Dr.
Wells explained as he led Barry back to the cortex, where Caitlin and Cisco were already waiting.
“Thank you… Dr.
Wells, Dr.
Snow, Mr.
Ramon.
For saving my life,” Barry said solemnly.
“It was our pleasure to watch over you.
Wells responded.
“My family?
Did Dad come?” Barry asked, eager to see them.
“Yes, and the west’s also came but…..
Your… many significant lovers also came” Dr.
Wells explained awkwardly
“Playboy,” Caitlin said coldly, looking annoyed
“How did you….
Never mind … oh great sensei please teach me your ways,” Cisco begged, his eyes full of desperation.
Seems like it’s been a while since the guy got laid
“I think I should take my leave.
After nine months in a coma, they must be worried sick.
Also, do you have my phone and wallet?” Barry said, he sweat dropped a little trying to get out of this situation.
He had to call his dad first.
“You can’t go.
Now that you’re awake, we need to do more tests.
You’re still going through changes, and there’s so much we don’t know about your physiology.
Caitlin will inform your family.
While they come to pick you up, we can run some tests,” Dr.
Wells suggested.
Nobody cared more about the birth of the Flash than him.
Barry felt he would lose his patience if he kept talking to Dr.
Wells.
But he also understood that Wells knew the Speed Force like no one else… and right now, he wouldn’t harm him.
I should be fine.
Just think of this as practice for keeping my poker face, Barry thought.
“Okay.
But at least let me call my dad,” Barry nodded.
He still had to talk to his father—Henry only had Barry left, and he would be worried sick.
“That we can do.
In the meantime, we’ll set things up,” Dr.
Wells said, pleased at Barry’s cooperation.
“Cisco, let’s go.”
“I’ll inform Iris about you waking up.
Here’s your phone.
After that, I need to run some tests,” Caitlin said, handing him his phone.
Her tone was cold and detached as she left the cortex.
Didn’t she lose her fiancé… if I remember correctly?
That might explain her coldness.
From his previous memories, Barry knew her backstory—she had one of the most tragic experiences in the show.
I won’t allow any more tragedies in my family’s or friends’ lives, Barry thought.
For now, though, he called his father.
“Slugger?” Henry’s voice was confused yet hopeful, praying it was his son.
“Come on, Dad, you’ve been calling me that since I was eleven,” Barry joked, trying to lighten the mood.
“You’re up… How— I mean, how are you?
Is your body fine?
Did they check up on you?” No matter what, the family is always worried.
“I’m fine, Dad.
Much better than before.
They’re going to run some tests, but I can walk just fine.
My muscles didn’t atrophy much,” Barry explained.
“Thank God… I really thought—” Henry’s voice broke.
He knew about Barry’s enhancements and believed that must have been the reason his son was still alive.
“I heard you came to visit,” Barry said as he sat down.
“Where are you now?” he asked softly.
“Of course I came.
You’re my son.
I’m in Coast City right now, but I’ll take the train first thing in the morning.”
“Can’t wait,” Barry said, a smile tugging at his lips.
He was happy his father would finally be in Central City.
“Get some rest, son.
I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Bye, Dad.”
“Bye.”
