After listening, Freya nodded thoughtfully.
“But you’re only Rank Two right now, aren’t you?”
“How can you make supernatural items like this already?”
Leaving everything else aside, this invisibility cloak could even block her Mind Sense.
That alone was impressive.
“Uh…”
Euphemia’s expression turned slightly awkward.
“Don’t worry about those little details.”
“In any case, let’s go. We should take a look inside that warehouse first.”
The two left the alley.
The invisibility cloak had originally been designed for one person.
The only reason it could cover both of them was that Freya and Euphemia were both fairly petite.
Soon, they returned to the entrance of the old blue warehouse.
Another problem immediately appeared.
The warehouse doors were tightly shut.
Even if they were invisible now, opening the doors would still expose them.
Besides, neither of them had the key.
Euphemia did not stop at the entrance.
Instead, she pulled Freya forward until they reached the side of the warehouse.
That side was pressed close against another warehouse nearby, leaving only a narrow gap between the two buildings.
Most ordinary people would probably never pass through here.
Even Euphemia and Freya had to turn sideways to squeeze inside.
After they rubbed their way to the middle, Euphemia asked, “Check for me.”
“Is there anyone on the other side of this wall?”
“The other side?”
Freya was a little puzzled, but she still looked with Mind Sense.
“No.”
“That works.”
As she spoke, Euphemia removed the silver bracelet from her right wrist and pressed it against the wall.
She took a deep breath and infused a tiny amount of spirituality into it.
The next second, the silver bracelet rapidly expanded.
It widened into a circle about three feet across.
The wall inside the circle vanished as though it had been erased from existence.
Euphemia lifted one leg, bent at the waist, and stepped straight into the warehouse.
Freya was pulled in as well, still looking bewildered.
After they both passed through, the bracelet rapidly shrank again.
Euphemia picked it up and put it back on her wrist.
“If the front door doesn’t work, just don’t use the front door.”
“There’s always a way around the problem.”
The warehouse was quiet and empty.
Or rather, this was exactly what a normal old warehouse should look like.
Euphemia walked around and examined the area.
The first things she saw were large crates piled in the corner, already opened, along with broken pieces of protective foam scattered across the floor.
Freya lowered her voice.
“They unloaded a shipment here last night.”
“Those crates were filled with strange things that looked like potion ingredients.”
Euphemia glanced at her.
“Why does that sound like you personally watched the whole thing happen last night?”
“Hmm…”
Freya thought about it.
“In a certain sense, that’s not wrong.”
Euphemia was stunned.
“Weren’t you an ordinary person before this morning?”
“How were you that bold?”
“And you didn’t get discovered? You just ran away?”
Freya did not know how to answer.
After all, she had been discovered.
Captain Nolan had also died because he stayed behind to cover her retreat.
Euphemia did not continue pressing her.
She suddenly saw a figure standing in the corner of the warehouse.
It was motionless, like a statue.
Its eyes stared straight ahead, as though it were standing guard.
Wearing the invisibility cloak, the two walked right past it in broad daylight.
Euphemia could not help clicking her tongue.
“War Path.”
“They’re nothing but idiots with muscles for brains.”
“All they have is direct combat power.”
“They’re terrible at everything else.”
“Forget these little soldiers.”
“Even if that Rank Five practitioner himself stood here, he wouldn’t find us.”
Using Mind Sense, Freya quickly located where the potion ingredients were stored.
The two went straight there.
An isolated small room appeared in front of them.
Since the contents were so important, of course they were stored separately.
Two soldiers also stood guard outside the small room.
But that still could not stop them.
Just as they had done when entering the warehouse, they moved to the side wall of the room.
Euphemia removed her bracelet and opened a hole in the wall.
Then the two slipped inside as quickly as they could.
Unlike the messy warehouse outside, everything in this room was neatly arranged.
Freya opened her eyes.
The first thing she saw was a fully packed shelf.
On it were the strange materials she had seen unpacked from the crates in the previous simulation.
Jars filled with cloudy liquid.
Twisted goat horns.
Bones from some unknown creature.
And small bags filled with unidentified substances.
Euphemia stepped forward as well.
She studied the shelf with a thoughtful expression.
After a while, she said, “Moses Sea black octopus.”
“Lightning Ram horns.”
“And… a human forearm bone, I think.”
Making a potion usually required one main ingredient, two auxiliary ingredients, and several minor additives.
“From the look of things, the main ingredient should be the black octopus.”
“I just don’t know which part of the octopus they’re using.”
“Surely they don’t throw the entire thing into a pot.”
“The auxiliary ingredients should be the ram horn and the human bone.”
“My guess is that they’re ground into powder.”
“As for the additives…”
While speaking, Euphemia opened one of the small bags.
Inside were semi-transparent crystal flakes that looked like bits of crystal.
“These are spirituality crystals.”
“Almost every potion can use them as an additive.”
“The difference lies in concentration and quantity.”
“High-concentration spirituality crystals are rare and expensive.”
“But these… honestly, the quality is very average.”
“You could even call them inferior.”
“Potions made with these probably won’t be very good.”
Freya said, “They’re mass-producing Demon Path potions and handing them out to cannon fodder.”
“As long as the potions work, that’s probably good enough.”
“I doubt they ever cared about quality.”
Euphemia put the bag back where it had been.
“That seems likely.”
“We can take one jar of black octopus with us.”
“It can serve as evidence that someone is privately manufacturing potions here.”
“But that alone won’t be enough to convince the Special Affairs Division to request a Mobile Team directly.”
“We still need to investigate the mastermind’s true identity.”
“A Rank Five practitioner can’t be a complete nobody.”
“If we can learn who he is, that information alone will serve as evidence.”
Freya suddenly thought of something.
She closed her eyes and continued searching.
During the third simulation, the one where she had drunk the War Path potion, the owner of the Broken Axe Tavern had told her to come to this warehouse for advancement after killing one hundred people.
In that case, would this warehouse contain a Rank Two War Path potion?
Freya searched for quite a while.
She found no trace of any finished potion in the room.
Nor did she find any hidden compartment.
“Nothing…”
She opened her eyes and looked a little disappointed.
It seemed that even if she had completed the task of killing one hundred people during the third simulation and come to this warehouse, Obsidian’s mastermind would probably have arranged for one of his soldiers to fetch a Rank Two potion from another location.
Then why not continue using the Broken Axe Tavern for the transaction?
Why insist on calling her to the warehouse?
The answer was not hard to guess.
Perhaps the mastermind had admired her as a charming little lunatic.
Perhaps there was some other reason.
In any case, the goal had been to recruit her.
And if he wanted to recruit her, he would naturally need to show her something.
“That mastermind probably has more than this one base,” Freya said.
The warehouse they were in now was likely the least important one.
That was why it had been chosen as the place to receive a new recruit.
“A cunning rabbit has three burrows,” Euphemia said.
“As a Rank Five practitioner, there’s no way he reached this point by being stupid.”
“It’s only natural for him to have multiple bases.”
After confirming that the room contained nothing else of value, the two left the way they had come.
Then Euphemia pulled Freya along and continued searching the warehouse.
