She woke up at 9 o’clock, quickly got ready, and stepped outside wearing her usual outfit—black baggy jeans, a white T-shirt, and a cap.
She rushed toward the bus stop, but in just a second, she realized she had missed her bus.
Frustrated, she glanced up at the sky and immediately tried booking a cab, but none were available.
She called her boyfriend.
After three or four rings, he finally picked up.
“Hey babe, I’m busy,” he said, and cut the call.
Disappointment slowly turned into anger.
Just then, a cab stopped right in front of her.
The driver opened the door and gestured for her to get in.
She hesitated for a moment, then got inside, quietly thanking the driver—and God too.
The road was strangely empty—unlike usual, when it was always crowded with traffic.
She frowned, confused.
The car was moving unusually slowly.
She glanced at the driver through the rearview mirror.
He was an old man, his white hair neatly combed, dressed in a blue suit.
A small picture of him with a young girl—probably his daughter—was placed on the dashboard.
The driver suddenly turned on the music.
As the soft melody began to play, she leaned back into her seat and closed her eyes.
The tune was unfamiliar, yet it brought her an unexplainable sense of calm.
“Who is the musician?” she asked softly.
The driver smiled.
“There is no musician for this,” he replied.
She opened her eyes, confused—but said nothing.
Giving up on her curiosity, she closed her eyes again.
The cool wind brushed gently against her face, slowly pulling her into sleep…
And while she drifted into her dreams, the world outside remained lost in its usual chaos.
Soon, the cab stopped in front of a tall building—the same address she had given.
It was strangely quiet, surrounded by stillness.
She stepped out, paid the driver, and turned toward the building.
Taking a deep sigh, she rushed inside.
Behind her, the driver watched silently.
Then, without a word, he started the engine—and in the very next moment, the car sped away like the wind.
She hurried upstairs and finally sat down at her desk, trying to catch her breath.
“Why are you so late?”
Her boss’s voice startled her.
She stood up immediately, her eyes lowered to the ground.
Silence made her anger burn even more inside.
“Answer me, damn it!” he shouted again.
“I… I missed my bus, sir,” she replied quietly.
“The bus?”
He clenched his jaw, then slammed a file onto her desk with a loud thud before storming out of the room.
She let out a tired sigh and slowly sat down, her heart still heavy.
She opened her desktop and started working.
Her eyes stayed fixed on the screen, and her fingers moved steadily across the keyboard and mouse.
File after file, task after task—she kept herself busy.
Work was the only thing that could distract her from everything else.
The missed bus, the strange morning, her boyfriend’s careless response… all of it slowly faded into the background as she focused harder.
For now, she just wanted to get through the day.
After some time, her phone rang.
She picked it up.
“Hello?”
A deep, firm voice spoke from the other side, “Do you even know who your real boss is?”
The tone was sharp enough to grab her full attention.
She stayed quiet for a moment, listening carefully… analyzing.
His breathing sounded steady, almost relaxed—like he was sitting comfortably somewhere, completely in control of the conversation.
“Sounds like you’re trying to scare me,” she said calmly.
She wasn’t new to this.
Calls like these didn’t frighten her anymore.
Instead, she leaned back in her chair, her voice steady and confident.
“Now tell me,” she continued, “who exactly are you?”
There was a pause.
For the first time… the man on the other end seemed caught off guard.
“I do want to tell you,” the man said slowly, “but I also know… you won’t be able to handle the truth.”
A small smile curved on her lips.
“So you care about me?” she chuckled softly.
“Maybe… a little.”
His tone was playful—like he was enjoying this.
But so was she.
This wasn’t new to her.
She knew this game well.
“Why?” she asked calmly.
“Because you’re our most active enemy,” he replied.
“You keep things interesting. We wouldn’t want to lose our entertainment.”
He was mocking her.
She leaned back in her chair, unfazed.
“Oh, that’s sweet,” she said lightly.
“Careful… I might fall for you.”
There was a brief silence.
Then his voice hardened.
“Enough with your jokes.”
Looks like she hit a nerve.
“Then stop playing games and talk,” she shot back, her tone still steady.
That did it.
His patience snapped.
“You think this is a joke?” he snapped, anger slipping through.
“Sorry,” she said casually, cutting him off, “not interested.”
And she ended the call—with a faint smile.
Because while he was busy talking…
She had already traced his location.
She wasn’t just playing the game.
She was winning it.
“Rosie, can I borrow your car?”
Rosie glanced at her and handed over the keys.
“Don’t ruin my car.”
She smirked slightly.
“I won’t.”
A while later, she stopped in front of a gas station.
It was completely empty.
The evening air brushed against her face, slightly messing up her hair as she stepped out.
She looked around, searching.
Something didn’t feel right.
Suddenly—she froze.
A man stood a few steps away.
He wore a green shirt, his head slightly bent down, his face partially hidden.
“Who are you?” she asked sharply.
Slowly… he lifted his head.
Their eyes met.
His gaze was intense—almost unsettling.
Something about him made her heart race.
“Tell me,” she demanded again.
He didn’t answer.
Instead, he took a step forward.
Her grip tightened around the small knife in her hand.
Her body tensed.
“Stay back,” she warned, her voice firm despite the fear creeping in.
“Or I’ll kill you.”
But he didn’t stop.
Step by step, he came closer.
The air felt heavier, hotter… suffocating.
Then suddenly—
He bent down slightly, bringing his face closer to hers, his eyes locked onto hers.
“Me?” he said, pointing at himself.
His voice was deep—like distant thunder, echoing in her ears.
For a moment, she couldn’t move.
Then—
Someone called her name.
She turned quickly.
Her boyfriend was walking toward her.
Confused, she looked back—
The man in the green shirt… was gone.
As if he was never there.
She feels glitched….
