Evil Eye sighed in her mind. Today was the day that she left. She looked at thew woman that she may have fallen for with a sad gaze. It was a solemn thing for her to leave. She had been offered a seat in Re-Estize as a noble, yet she had refused.
Calvaria was a hard person to pin down. She was mysterious, yet she was open in many ways. She was skilled, yet open minded. It was a weird mixture for her to look at. All in all, she had fallen for her hard. In fact, simply thinking about the word hard and Calvaria in a sentence was doing something.
No one else seemed to care about that though. In fact, Lakyus and Calvaria herself were doing a lot of talking. Calvaria spoke, raising her hand to commit to a handshake.
“It has been an honor meeting you, Lady Lakyus,” she said, and Lakyus returned the handshake.
“I agree, Lady Calvaria. Maybe my team and I should visit your city sometime?” she asked, raising a brow in a friendly way.
Calvaria let out a giggle that seemed to make Evil Eye’s heart flutter. Meanwhile, Anna was glaring holes into her skull. Nabe meanwhile was simply there, somewhat confused at the offer.
“Maybe, but alas, we must go back. I must go and offer some prayers to the shrine to my goddess as thanks. She really only accepts things from that shrine and another one,” she explained, and earned a nod from the other woman.
“It has been great getting to know you,” Evil Eye told her with brightness in her voice.
She then slightly cursed herself in her mind. that had been such a strange thing to say, even in her mind it was weird. Now, as she looked at her, she noticed that Anna was seemingly glaring holes into her again.
She shook her head in her mind again. That woman had a problem with her. Well, she seemingly had a problem with many things nowadays. Yet, that was beside the point. Right now, Calvaria was talking.
“Of course Lady Evil Eye, it has been a pleasure to make your acquaintance as well. I will be seeing you around,” she said, and turned around to get into the carriage that marquis Raven had sent.
Evil Eye hummed as she watched them all go. Her mind fluttered with ideas of her and Calvaria spending time together. She was so far in lalaland, that she didn’t notice that Gagarin was getting ready to chop her head.
Her hand landed on the vampire’s head with a thunk, and she winced as she crouched in pain. Clutching her head, she then stood and looked up to the woman responsible. It was then that she noticed that all her allies were looking at her, as if they had seen a ghost.
“What?” she asked, her tone brusque and slightly concerned.
Lakyus was looking at her with a smile, but it was somewhat strained. Tia and Tina were looking at her as if she had grown a second head. Yet, Gagarin was looking at her with the deepest and most sincere smile yet. Evil Eye didn’t know why they were looking at her like that.
Had she been too obvious in her staring? Sure, Calvaria did make a part of her mind go crazy. A small part of that small part even made her want to bark and ask her to step on her. Yet, she knew that that was too much. It would be depraved, some might say.
“You alright Evil Eye? You’ve been staring at that woman really hard for some time,” Lakyus, the woman who’s armor would make sure she died a sheltered virgin, asked the small stack.
Evil Eye made to speak, yet Gagarin spoke before hand. Evil Eye glared at the woman. She would have her revenge.
“Oh, she’s better than okay. She’s so far in hormonal lalaland that she didn’t notice me chopping her head,” Gagarin explained, earning a blush from both Evil Eye and Lakyus.
“Oh,” Lakyus started, “I didn’t know you swung that way.”
“I didn’t know either, until she saved me from that demon lord. I was so cool!” she gushed, letting the dam in her mind burst, “she was fearless in the face of danger at all times! It makes sense though. Her goddess is a goddess of death and all!” she gushed, her mind generating images faster than any AI could hope to match.
“Yeah,” Gagarin said softly, as if just remembering something, “That goddess you met. How powerful was she? Did she seem like an actual goddess? Or was she just a cult leader type thing?” she asked.
She stopped, her face looking to Gagarin. A weight settled on everyone. She was still, mush more so than a corpse. They looked at her, uneasy now. They had never truly seen her like this. The only time that she had come close to this was when she had talked about the fourteen heroes.
She spoke then. Her voice was deep now, layering layer upon layer of weight and experience. They hadn’t heard like this, period.
“That was terror,” she spoke, her voice like a calm, cold ocean, “I felt my very life flash before my eyes the second I felt her. I’ve seen dragon lords, I’ve seen the evil deities that terrorized us all those years ago, they were nothing to her. the last of the dragon lords would crumble under her heel,” she invoked.
They all stilled at her words, the meaning sinking in. Gagarin looked regretful, like she hadn’t the faintest idea that she may have been a god. The sun seemed even a bit dimmer now, as it showered its light down on them.
She removed her mask then. Evil Eye removed her mask to show them all her face, to show them the emotions that that being that embodied death evoked in her. Lakyus, Tia and Tina, Gagarin saw her do this, earning a gasp from Lakyus and a shaking body from the resident tank.
“We must not fight her, ever, period. We would die before we could even feel the grip of death on our bodies. It would be out true end,” she said this as she pierced their bodies and reached their souls with her gaze.
She closed her eyes. She moved to put back on the mask. She took a shuddering breath as she looked down at the ground. They all looked away, their sight locked onto the carriage of the worshipper of that embodiment of death.
Evil Eye gazed at the receding form of the woman who had stolen her heart. She sighed in her mind, wanting to hear more of her voice. She wanted to hear her say that all would be right, that the one she worshipped wasn’t death, that she needn’t to have the fear of death.
She knew not what would happen. She didn’t know what would happen in a day. She didn’t know what would happen in a week. She didn’t know what would happen in a year. The future would be full of surprises, though.
