Wen Shu struggled to open his eyes. The first thing he saw was Mori’s face, inches from his own. Mori’s features were still exquisitely delicate, but he was trying to hoist Wen Shu’s leg over his shoulder.
Wen Shu jumped and instinctively kicked him.
Mori’s face jerked to the side from the kick. When he turned back, he was still smiling as he reached out and grabbed Wen Shu by the ankle.
His strength was just as terrifying as Wen Shu remembered. Wen Shu couldn’t move at all.
“Lift your hips, brother.”
Mori was helping him get dressed.
Wen Shu was about to say he could do it himself, but swallowed the words at once. “I… You disturbed my sleep!”
“I’m sorry, brother. It’s all my fault. But they’re coming over.”
Who?
It took Wen Shu a moment to process that. It had to be the people from the Imperial military he’d heard about yesterday.
The only clear hint in the blurb was that Mori would join the Imperial army and meet the second prince.
“I have to change your clothes before I can take you over there. Remember, don’t say anything.” Mori bent down with a smile and rubbed a finger over Wen Shu’s lips. “If they find out who you are, I’m afraid you’ll be executed on the spot, brother.”
What? Why…? What was so wrong with his identity?
Wen Shu wanted to ask, but just then, someone knocked at the door.
Mori’s lips stretched into a smile, his eyes behind the silver-rimmed glasses curving into crescent moons. He pressed a finger to Wen Shu’s lips again, shushing him, then turned and walked out with a gentle smile that made Wen Shu feel sick.
Wen Shu immediately climbed out of bed and looked down. Only then did he realize that Mori had dressed him in a skirt.
What the hell was wrong with that brat? He wasn’t wearing this!
With a dark look on his face, Wen Shu yanked off the long skirt and began rummaging through the room for pants.
Another man’s low voice gradually came from outside.
“Do you know where their son is?”
Wen Shu hesitated, then went to the door to try to listen in.
According to the original plot, his parents were thoroughly rotten people, even suspected of trafficking orphans. The protagonist had been enslaved by them, but a few years ago, his parents had suddenly vanished without a trace.
As their only son, was Wen Shu really wanted by the authorities now?
The officer’s voice came again. “No, that’s against regulations.”
“We’ll talk about this later. Come back with me first.”
But Wen Shu couldn’t hear Mori’s reply. He pressed himself against the door.
Mori’s voice grew clearer, as if he’d come closer. “If I can’t be with him, then I’m not going. He can’t manage without me taking care of him.”
“She’s in here?”
They had already reached the bedroom door. The officer in a black uniform casually opened it, never expecting a slender figure to topple toward him.
He didn’t get a good look at the person. All he saw were a pair of long, pale legs, and he instinctively caught them.
Wen Shu went rigid, his head bowed against the officer’s chest as he silently berated himself. He hadn’t expected the door to open so suddenly!
His shirt barely covered the tops of his thighs.
Even without looking up, he could feel Mori staring at him. He didn’t dare move.
The air fell silent. The officer holding him didn’t let go, and just as Wen Shu thought he was going to die of embarrassment, Mori suddenly chuckled softly.
“This is my fiancee.”
What…?
“Could you let go now, officer?”
The officer’s arms tightened around him before loosening again. “Sorry.”
Wen Shu didn’t dare look up. He was just about to take a step back when Mori yanked him over and scooped him up in his arms.
“Huh?” Wen Shu grabbed the doorframe in alarm. He didn’t want to be alone with Mori, but when he looked up, he met Mori’s eyes.
Those golden eyes were cold and completely devoid of amusement.
Wen Shu shuddered inwardly and had no choice but to let go.
“Did I do something wrong, brother?”
The door slammed shut. Mori threw Wen Shu onto the bed.
“Who are you trying to seduce, brother?”
A forked tongue flicked against his ear again. Wen Shu panicked. “Let go of me!”
“Let go of you?” Mori repeated the words slowly, his expression suddenly twisting into something savage. “Is that what you want, brother?”
“I’ve worked so hard to raise you. I cook for you every day, bathe you, and now I want to keep you by my side. Then you see one man and suddenly you don’t want me anymore? You just want to leave me?”
“What? No…” Mori’s fingers squeezed Wen Shu’s leg until it hurt. Realizing he’d poked a hornet’s nest again, Wen Shu immediately regretted it. His face went pale. “I…”
“You think that asshole out there is better? Hmm? What’s so good about him?”
“You want him to play with your legs?”
Mori clenched his teeth, his jaw taut. He stared at the smooth, pale skin of Wen Shu’s leg, then suddenly lowered his head and bit into the top of Wen Shu’s thigh.
“Ah!” Tears sprang from Wen Shu’s eyes. “Let go! Let go!”
Wen Shu grabbed Mori’s hair with all his might, the veins standing out on the back of his hand. Furious and beyond caring, he slapped Mori across the face. “I’ll kill you!”
Mori licked the blood from the corner of his mouth and looked up at the enraged Wen Shu, then suddenly smiled.
“You hate it too, don’t you, brother? This kind of thing hurts.”
“You bastard!” Wen Shu sobbed as he hit and kicked Mori with all his strength, but Mori kept him pinned down.
“See? He wouldn’t treat you well.”
Mori finally pressed Wen Shu’s head against his chest. “I’m the only family you have, brother. I won’t hurt you.”
Tears still streamed down Wen Shu’s face from the pain. He opened his mouth and bit Mori’s shoulder.
Mori stiffened, but didn’t pull away. Instead, he stroked Wen Shu’s hair.
As his initial fury faded, Wen Shu slowly came to his senses and let go.
A clear red bite mark showed on Mori’s shoulder, but the skin hadn’t even broken.
How was that possible?
He’d bitten with all his strength, but couldn’t actually hurt him. Why was the difference between them so huge?
“Brother.” Mori looked at Wen Shu’s tear-streaked face and suddenly cupped it in his hands, then put his mouth to Wen Shu’s eyes.
“?!” Wen Shu tried to push him away in alarm, but Mori held him down. He carefully licked each of Wen Shu’s eyelashes, sucking gently, over and over. His breath brushed across Wen Shu’s face, sending waves of prickling sensation down his spine.
“You won’t try to seduce anyone else again, will you, brother?”
Wen Shu clenched his teeth. In the end, he tamped down the urge to fight this lunatic and nodded.
He couldn’t beat the bastard.
Mori smiled tenderly again, lowering his lashes as he carefully licked every tear from Wen Shu’s face, as though it were an exceptionally enjoyable pastime.
When he finally let go, Mori’s pale cheeks were even tinged pink. “Don’t be angry anymore, brother. I’ll bandage you up.”
…
When Mori carried him out of the room again, Wen Shu looked toward the officer outside.
People here had all sorts of builds and hair colors. Mori was already taller than him, but the officer was bigger still. With his brown hair and strong features, he looked more like a Westerner, and his broad back was like a mountain.
He had to be able to beat Mori…
Wen Shu stared hard at him, praying silently.
Come on. Hurry up and take this lunatic away!
When Officer Will saw Wen Shu being carried out again, his expression grew complicated.
The long legs he’d glimpsed earlier were now completely covered by a long skirt, but his gaze still lingered on Wen Shu.
Wen Shu hadn’t been outside in a long time, and his hair had grown far too long. His slender figure made him look somewhat androgynous, so the officer hadn’t doubted that he was a woman.
Although most of the sounds from the room had been muffled, he’d still heard something vague, like… sobbing, as if from pain.
Given the relationship between the two, Will couldn’t help misunderstanding what they’d been doing in there.
And they’d left him waiting outside the whole time. It was incredibly rude.
Will suppressed his anger. “Where are you taking her?”
“You saw for yourself, Officer. He can barely stand.”
Mori’s manner was much colder than before. Carrying Wen Shu, he walked straight outside.
A sleek black hover car, straight out of a science-fiction movie, was parked in front of the dilapidated house. Mori seemed used to it and simply carried Wen Shu inside.
As a grown man, Wen Shu had no desire to sit on someone’s lap.
Mortified, he tried to shift away. A moment later, he heard a sound from outside.
Will had climbed aboard too.
Wen Shu couldn’t help looking at him hopefully again.
What was wrong with this guy? Say something! Stop Mori from taking me!
Mori, holding him in his arms, lowered his gaze. His golden eyes glinted darkly as he suddenly gripped the back of Wen Shu’s neck.
“Brother.”
Wen Shu froze.
Mori pressed close to his ear, his breath spilling against Wen Shu’s cheek.
“Who do you keep looking at?”
The devil’s hand slid up Wen Shu’s leg. As he spoke, he found the wound from earlier unerringly and pressed down hard.
“Mm!” Wen Shu curled up in pain at once, his eyes reddening again.
Mori rubbed his nose against Wen Shu’s ear. “Hold on to me.”
Fuck you. Fuck, fuck…
Wen Shu silently repeated every curse he knew, gritting his teeth in fury, but still had no choice but to wrap his arms tightly around Mori’s neck.
When Will climbed aboard, he saw Wen Shu nestled against Mori’s chest.
“What’s wrong? Was I too rough just now?” Mori murmured, his nose buried in Wen Shu’s black hair. He deliberately spoke at just the right volume, tightening his arm around Wen Shu’s waist.
Will frowned, growing more and more displeased.
He walked toward them, about to say that he still hadn’t agreed to let Mori enlist with his woman in tow, when he accidentally met Wen Shu’s gaze.
The black-haired beauty was curled up in Mori’s arms, his slender arms looped around Mori’s neck, yet he was sneaking glances at Will.
Though he was wearing a mask, Will could still see Wen Shu’s eyes.
They were the most beautiful black eyes he’d ever seen. His eyelashes were damp, the corners of his eyes tilted up slightly, and the skin around them was flushed pink. His eyes seemed to ripple like water, with a moon half-hidden behind them, as if he had something he wanted to say but couldn’t.
