Everyone thought Felix’s explanation just now had been ridiculous.
Everyone, that was, except the white-haired old man.
Instead of looking speechless like the others, he stared at Felix with genuine admiration.
His wrinkled eyes were shining, and the expression on his face made it seem as though he had just discovered some extraordinary hidden talent.
So compliments could be done like that?
First compare someone to something else, then dress it up with enough nice words until it sounded convincing.
He had lived this long.
How had he never thought of such a method before?
“Young man, could you teach me a few more tricks?”
The more the old man thought about it, the more reasonable it seemed.
Unable to hold himself back, he stepped forward, took Felix Ravenholt’s hand, and looked at him expectantly.
Felix froze.
For a moment, he simply stared at the old man in confusion, almost wondering whether he had misheard.
To be honest, even he had felt that his explanation earlier was a little forced.
Yet somehow, there was actually someone here who had taken it seriously.
Not only had the old man refrained from laughing at him, but he had even come over personally to ask for advice.
Usually, whenever Felix praised someone like that, the response was either an eye roll or a fist.
This was the first time he had ever met someone who looked at him with such admiration and even held his hand as though sincerely seeking instruction.
Looking at the old man’s expectant face, Felix suddenly felt strangely moved.
Finally.
Someone appreciated his talent.
After all these years of talking, he had finally met a person who truly understood him.
“To tell you the truth, I’ve been having a bit of trouble lately,” the white-haired old man said, lowering his voice.
His expression became slightly embarrassed, mixed with a trace of helplessness.
“I haven’t been able to figure out how to make things right with the person at home.”
He leaned a little closer.
Several guards standing nearby nearly lost their footing.
Two of them actually stumbled and dropped to the ground, staring at the old man in disbelief.
Was this really the same person who was normally so strict with them?
The same man who would put on a stern face and lecture them over the smallest mistake?
Yet now, in front of Felix Ravenholt, he was openly talking about private matters at home and asking for advice with such sincerity.
Evelyn was equally stunned.
She genuinely could not understand what there was to learn from that nonsense.
If the old man actually took Felix’s method home and used it, was he sure it wouldn’t make the situation worse?
He might end up locked outside the door instead.
Lucian stood nearby, and even the corner of his mouth twitched slightly.
A short while ago, these people had been chasing Evelyn through the streets and tying her up.
Now, somehow, one person had become a serious teacher while the other had turned into an eager student.
The two of them seemed unexpectedly well suited to each other.
“Sure!”
Felix had finally met someone who was sincerely asking for his advice.
How could he possibly refuse?
He immediately tightened his grip on the old man’s hand and pulled him toward a slightly quieter spot nearby.
In truth, they were only a few steps away from everyone else, yet the two of them still leaned close together and lowered their voices as though they were discussing some great secret.
Felix talked with animated gestures, while the white-haired old man listened with complete seriousness and nodded from time to time.
Before long, laughter drifted over from their side.
The two of them became more and more enthusiastic the longer they talked, and from a distance, they looked less like people who had only just met and more like old friends reunited after years apart.
Evelyn looked at the pair chatting excitedly, then glanced at the guards standing nearby with confused expressions.
Suddenly, she felt exhausted.
She was genuinely tired today.
Even being chased around for the past several days had not drained her as much as this.
With a helpless sigh, she lost whatever interest she had left in trying to sneak out again.
“I think I’m actually tired today. I’m going back to take a nap.”
Without waiting for anyone to respond, she turned and started walking toward the Sterling residence.
The guards immediately relaxed when they saw that she was finally willing to return on her own and hurried after her.
One of them had already taken several steps before remembering the white-haired old man, who was still deep in conversation with Felix.
“The Young Lady is going back!”
“Huh?”
Felix stopped mid-sentence and leaned to the side to look in Evelyn’s direction.
“You’re leaving already?”
When she continued walking without even turning around, he raised his voice slightly.
“Honeyberry, are you still mad at me? We haven’t even had a proper chance to catch up yet!”
Evelyn’s footsteps stopped sharply.
The instant she heard the word honeyberry, the irritation she had only just managed to suppress began rising again.
She took a deep breath and forced herself not to turn around.
Instead, she simply walked faster.
Forget it.
She really should go back.
If she stayed any longer, she was afraid she might actually turn around and find a way to shut that man’s mouth.
By then, the white-haired old man could see that Evelyn had already walked quite far, so he knew he could not continue delaying.
Reluctantly, he shook Felix’s hand a couple of times and said with heartfelt gratitude,
“Young Master Felix, thank you very much for today. I truly appreciate it.”
“Don’t worry. Use what I taught you. It’ll definitely work.”
Felix patted the old man on the shoulder with complete confidence, as though he were some highly experienced expert in pleasing people.
The old man’s eyes lit up even more.
He nodded firmly before finally turning and hurrying after Evelyn.
“Young Lady, wait for me!”
Felix remained where he was and watched them disappear into the distance, still wearing a satisfied smile
