“You vented on your sister! Did you lose in a fight?” The first voice spoke again in what I presumed to be brimming with unloaded anger.

“No dad…” The second voice tried to reply but was harshly interrupted again.

“Were you thirsty?” The voice which I’d finally recognized to be dad’s threw in another question.Full novel: The Heirs: ZECA — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“No….”

“Did you fight with May?” Dad asked a final question that received silence for an answer.

Who is May?

I thought to myself

“Chris!!!!!” Dad released a pressure from his power’s on Chris which was so high that even I who’d never experienced such and clearly wasn’t experiencing alongside him felt sorry for Chris.

“It wasn’t intentional” the second voice which I’d recognized as Chris spoke again in a submissive tone.

“This will not happen again!!!” That was the last I heard before I succumbed to sleeping again.

When I woke up it was morning already.

I went downstairs after taking a shower and bumped into Joy who was about ascending the stairs.

“Joy?”

“Zoe!” We spoke together.

“I’m fine” we answered the question we’d both wanted asking each other.

“Chris?” I asked Joy who shook her head at me. The source of this chapter is g.com.

“I haven’t seen him since the incident…..” Joy answered in bewilderment.

“I’ll go see him!” I began to hurry my way down.

“Zoe?” Joy called and I turned to look at her in enquiry.

“You owe me an explanation.” She spoke and I frowned staring up at her from my position below.

“I can’t” I refused her immediately.

“Zoe” Joy began

“No!!” I spoke firmly.

“This is personal” I spoke softly realizing I was too fierce.

“I’m your sister Zoe” Joy answered back and I knew she felt hurt but this was between me and E.

Having her in the equation wasn’t going to set things straight and I also felt that our fight was meant for us both to solve between ourselves.

I walked down and entered the kitchen.

Everyone who was working greeted me and some of them who seemed to have witnessed the fight between I and Chris remained frozen and stared at me blatantly and blankly.

I looked back at some of them who turned their eyes away as swiftly as they could.

I took a sandwich and a drink and strutted out the house eating and drinking while I began searching for Chris.

The next day, I’d decided that I was not going to pay attention to E at all but my thought process was unnecessary because he didn’t come to class.

I felt irritable for the rest of the day.

Isn’t this what you wanted?

I thought but frowned when I realized my strange reaction towards his absence.

What was even more annoying was that Gary was in school and turned to my unemployed caretaker.

“Are you feeling better from yesterday’s event Zoe?” He’d asked a dozen times and my ears begun to ring and it seemed like the question repeated itself over a thousand times in my head.

I muddled through the day in school and at home, I went to our home gallery and walked to our family album.

I picked it up, sat crisscrossed on the floor and carefully opened the album.

I stared at my mom’s pictures for a while then a gave her smiling picture a smile that looked uglier than crying.

“What should I do mom?” I asked.

“He shouldn’t have insulted you. Not for any reason. I can’t forgive him mom. I can’t…..” Someone hugged me and pressed my head closer to them.

“I’m sorry Sekani. I’m sorry” A familiar masculine voice echoed over my head.

I recognized that it was Chris and the tears swiveling in my eyes awhile ago began to fall silently wetting Chris’s shirt.

He hugged me tighter and patted my back gently and softly.

Soon under his gentle cajoling, I fell asleep.
