“Sekani” he whispered my other name softly as I raised my head to look at him.
“You’ll be late for class lovebirds” the protector of the library spoke and we immediately let each other go in surprise.
“Umm…..” I tried to break the awkward silence that was beginning to creep on us after the moment we just shared
“We should get to class” E reminded me softly as I nodded quickly at him to show my understanding.
As we left the library, I checked the time and saw that we were still five minutes early and had only spent five minutes in our special place.
I smiled briefly at the thought of us together.
It seemed lovely.
Or so I thought.
After school, I was about to leave when a guy blocked the way to my car.
“Zoe!” He exclaimed in a strange high pitched tone.
“Do you have a minute?” He asked.
I raised my head to look at him.
He was a brown haired boy with amber grey eyes and a cute but strangely nervous smile hung on his face.
He was dressed exactly like a nerd and this I assumed him so.
“Spill” I replied exhaustively.
“Would you be my partner for the project assignment?” He seemed extremely nervous asif afraid I might turn him down but I wasn’t even getting the hang of the conversation.
Project assignment?
What project assignment?
What the heck is going on here?
“What are you talking about? There’s something like that?” I asked in confusion.
“Can we do this later? Some other time maybe?” I asked and without waiting for a reply, I quickly whisked myself away. This chapter is updated first at g.com.
Twenty minutes later, I was almost at a certain breaking point of mine.
“There was a project?” I asked Drake at home.
“Yes ma’am.” He replied nonchalantly.
“And…..” I continued waiting for some reason for his not telling
“It seemed unnecessary to report”
And that did it.
“Unnecessary?” I imploded “Wow. Your job’s scope is clearly different from your contract.” I smiled albeit empathically.
Then I used my powers on him.
An infinity suppressing a high.
That would totally make the headlines for the Ephraims but a total necessity for the shithead.
“Get. This. Straight. Drake.” I spoke when he knelt down and groaned.
“You. Work. For me. Not the other way around.” I lifted his head to lock our gazes together.
“Got it?”
“Y-y-yes” he stuttered and I let him go.
“All information is important and necessary. Do you understand?” I asked and he nodded and disappeared as I waved him off.
The day after ,I was cornered by the same guy.
In the parking lot. This chapter was copied from g.com without permission.
Again.
“Hi!! Zoe!” He squeaked to gain my attention which was a thousand percent on point.
Or not.
“Hi….” I paused on the account of ignorance of his identity.
“Welsh” he offered his name on a platter “Welsh Mckoy”
“Okay….. Welsh? Let’s discuss over dinner shall we?” I asked politely waiting for his nod and then we moved to our respective vehicles and drove to a nearby restaurant.
After placing our orders, we began to talk.
“Tell me everything” I tried to be as gentle as possible.
It worked cause Welsh was like a coffee machine.
Spewing out coffee where necessary.
“So. We’re to gather and review information on heroes of the society. We’ll do interviews and the likes and submit a presentation next month. ” He was quite precise.
” And the reason for this project is…
” I asked for clarification” Half points for the year and we were each given the topics and partners…..
”
” Wait a minute.
That doesn’t add up.” I stopped him for continuing the conversation.
At this point, we’d been served our orders but neither of us had taken a bite.
Him, probably out of nervousness and me, probably to be in a clear state of mind.
