The Hidden Sovereign: Beyond Fate

Chapter 19: The Chamber of Memories

A heavy silence filled the plaza.

The ancient silver key rested in Abster's palm.

It felt warm.

Almost... alive.

Orion Vale rose slowly and looked into Abster's eyes.

"That key has been passed down through every Grand Master of the Order of the Eclipse."

"For one thousand years."

"It has only one purpose."

"To return what was lost."

Abster closed his fingers around the key.

"My memories..."

Orion nodded.

"Not all of them."

"Only the ones your former self wished you to remember."

Inside the council hall of Nox Aeterna...

The expedition gathered around a large stone table.

Caelum stood beside a map of the ancient city.

"The Chamber of Memories lies beneath the Royal Palace."

"It has remained sealed since the fall of Nox Aeterna."

Helena frowned.

"If it has been sealed for a thousand years..."

"How do we know it's safe?"

Caelum looked toward the palace.

"We don't."

As they prepared to leave, Elena quietly caught up with Abster.

"Are you nervous?"

Abster smiled faintly.

"A little."

She reached into a small pouch and handed him a thin silver bracelet.

"My mother gave this to me when I was a child."

"They say it reminds you of what matters most."

Abster hesitated.

"I can't accept something so precious."

Elena gently took his hand and fastened the bracelet around his wrist.

"You can."

"Just promise you'll bring it back."

Their eyes met.

"I promise."

From the doorway, Lucien watched with folded arms.

A small grin crossed his face.

"About time," he muttered under his breath.

Lyra, standing nearby, heard him.

She smiled—but quietly looked away.

Deep beneath the palace...

A spiral staircase descended into darkness.

Blue crystals embedded in the walls lit one by one as Abster approached.

The silver key began to glow.

At the bottom stood a circular stone door covered in ancient runes.

There was no keyhole.

Instead, a handprint was carved into its center.

Caelum bowed.

"Only you can open it."

Abster placed his hand against the stone.

The bracelet Elena had given him shimmered softly.

The door rumbled.

BOOM...

The ancient seal slowly broke.

Cold air poured from the chamber beyond.

Inside floated hundreds of glowing crystal spheres.

Each contained fragments of light.

"What are they?" Lyra whispered.

Caelum answered quietly.

"Memories."

"Each one holds a moment from the past."

At the center of the room stood a single crystal, larger than all the others.

Unlike the rest, it glowed with black-and-gold light.

As Abster stepped closer, the crystal pulsed.

A voice echoed through the chamber.

It was his own.

> "If you are hearing this..."

> "...then the world has survived."

The group froze.

The voice continued.

> "I am Abster Valen Zorlav."

> "If I sealed these memories, then I failed to protect our future."

Abster felt a chill run through his body.

The recording wasn't speaking to everyone.

It was speaking directly to him.

> "Do not seek revenge."

> "Do not repeat my mistakes."

> "Become a better king than I ever was."

The crystal suddenly cracked.

A flash of light engulfed the chamber.

Visions flooded Abster's mind.

A young princess laughing in a royal garden.

Caelum pledging his loyalty.

Lord Zarek... standing beside him, smiling like a trusted friend.

Abster gasped.

"...Zarek..."

"He wasn't my enemy."

Before the vision could continue—

CRASH!

The ceiling exploded.

Dark figures dropped into the chamber.

Masked assassins dressed in crimson cloaks surrounded the group.

Their leader pointed a black spear toward Abster.

"Take the Sovereign."

"Alive."

Fenrir roared, shaking the chamber.

Lucien drew his sword.

Lyra's staff ignited with brilliant blue mana.

Elena stepped beside Abster.

"No matter who they are..."

"We face them together."

Abster looked at the enemies.

Then at his friends.

A calm smile appeared on his face.

For the first time...

He no longer felt alone.

He raised his sword.

"Let's protect our future."

The battle for the Chamber of Memories had begun.
