POV The Grand Tinkerer
There are many stories in which one small change has an enormous impact on the future.
What I am about to reveal is quite the opposite: one monumental change whose influence would only continue to grow.
A change authorized by The One Above All and The Living Tribunal.
The creation of a center for the human race.
The Human Prime, a being destined to become both the anchor and the protector of their entire species.
The Prime would serve as the living template for humanity, the standard against which all human evolution would be measured.
To ensure the survival of the Prime, all damage suffered by the Prime would be divided among every human being, regardless of distance.
No wound would fall upon the Prime alone, nor would any injury be allowed to threaten the existence of the species through a single point of failure.
To ensure longevity, the Prime’s lifespan would correspond to the combined remaining lifespans of every human being in existence.
As long as humanity endured, so too would its anchor.
This connection would also encourage the Prime to preserve humanity rather than allow it to destroy itself.
To ensure the Prime retained the ability to feel emotion, the Prime would remain capable of experiencing pain when large numbers of humans suffered simultaneously.
In circumstances of their choosing, the Prime could take that pain upon themselves, harboring it until they were ready to redistribute it among humanity once more.
To ensure the continued evolution of the race, the Prime would possess an instinctive awareness of events capable of elevating their own power.
Every opportunity for advancement would call to them, guiding them toward experiences that might benefit humanity as a whole.
Evolution occurring beyond the Prime’s direct influence would be treated differently.
Any divergence in humanity could be recognized as a separate subspecies, allowing the Prime to either remove that evolutionary path or extend its benefits to ordinary humans.
Furthermore, the Prime would be able to shift freely between every evolutionary path humanity had ever developed, embodying the accumulated possibilities of their species.
To ensure the Prime could not be overcome by foreign powers, any power that did not originate from humanity itself would be incapable of functioning as an attack against them.
No outside force could simply impose its will upon humanity’s living anchor.
Finally,to ensure the survival of the race, the Prime would possess an instinctive awareness of the greatest and most immediate threat facing humanity.
Whether that threat emerged from within their own world or from somewhere beyond the stars, the Prime would be drawn toward it.
And so, the Human Prime was created.
Not as a king to command humanity, nor as a god to rule over it, but as the living embodiment of its survival, its potential, and its future.
A single being whose existence would become inseparable from that of an entire species.
One anchor
And an influence that would never stop growing.
