Kai gently removed his hand from his mouth.
Thinking.
Does this creature take us for…
fools?
Sure, it’s intelligent.
No doubt about that.
But seriously…
uttering all these words to lure Ren out while standing completely still outside his camp?
Ren can clearly observe this thing, yet it seemed oblivious to that fact.
…It should have put out the campfire first.
Just as Kai finished his thought, the creature turned towards the campfire.
Ha~ha~ha.
Screw you, creature.
Kai cursed inwardly.
Now it suddenly has mind-reading abilities.
But he didn’t utter another word aloud.
Inside his own camp, Ren was watching the figure moving away from the camp.
Waiting for its next move.
But the horse didn’t put out the fire.
Instead, it walked around it and began walking towards the deeper part of the forest.
Tom…
A shout came from the camp’s direction.
Footsteps began approaching the horse. This chapter was taken from g.com without permission.
Elvan, who had been searching for Tom in front of the cart, had, due to the commotion, at some point come towards the back of the cart, near the camps, where he saw a familiar figure walking towards the trees.
Elvan’s steps halted as his gaze fell on Tom’s teeth.
Tom didn’t turn his head— then it disappeared into thin air.
While Elvan remained still.
Kai and Ren observed the whole scene through the fabric.
In the fire’s glow, it wasn’t difficult to observe what was happening outside.
Kai, after sensing the silence, unzipped a fraction of the camp’s fabric and watched outside.
Elvan was still rooted to the same spot.
Kai exhaled.
Then exited the camp.
And walked over to Elvan, who was still staring in the direction where it disappeared.
Kai simply patted Elvan’s shoulder twice before turning around towards Ren’s camp.
…Some things need to be settled on their own.
Saying that he could sense Elvan’s grief would be a lie.
No one can understand another person’s emotions completely.
They can just label them and predict their next action.
But they can’t truly feel what they are feeling.
So instead of comforting him, the best thing a person can do is give him space to sort through his feelings.
Ren watched as Kai approached through the fabric.
He placed his left arm on the zipper.
There was no reaction from the tattoo. This story is hosted at g.com.
After confirming this, Ren exited his camp.
Upon seeing Ren exit the camp,
Kai sighed in relief before walking over.
Step-step-step.
Ren watched as Kai scanned him from head to toe.
Ren glanced at the camps and then at the carts.
“Let’s join them,” he spoke.
Kai nodded and stared in Elvan’s direction.
“You go…
stay and watch over him, while I join them.”
Ren said before turning towards the camp.
Kai hesitated.
But after seeing that the distance between the camp and Elvan wasn’t too great, he stayed.
While Ren took out a pocket knife from his storage bag and began cutting the camps and separating their fabric.
He carried it towards the cart, covering either side of the cart with it.
On the other hand, Kai sat in the grass at a distance, watching Elvan.
Occasionally, he would glance back in Ren’s direction.
Ren continued his work.
while Elvan stood at the same spot.
