The message from Mira arrived in the dead of night.

James sat alone in his chambers within Frosthold, the crystal walls gleaming with pale blue light. He had been unable to sleep, his mind churning with plans and strategies for uniting the realms. The golden fire in his chest pulsed restlessly, as if sensing the danger that lurked just beyond the horizon.

Then the communication crystal in his palm blazed to life.

"James!" Mira's voice crackled through, urgent and strained. "They're here. The Council's army. Thousands of them. They've surrounded Ashford."

James shot to his feet, golden fire blazing. "How many? What do they want?"

"They want you," Mira said, her voice grim. "They're demanding your surrender. If you don't come back within three days, they'll burn the city to the ground. Everyone in it."

James's blood ran cold. "Three days. I'll be there. Tell everyone to hold on."

He ended the connection and stormed through the crystal corridors, his golden fire blazing a trail behind him.

The Gathering

James found his allies in the great hall of Frosthold, their faces illuminated by the pale glow of the ice walls. Kael was pacing nervously, his mismatched eyes darting around the room. Serena stood rigid, her ice-blue eyes sharp with concern. Rourke was already on his feet, his massive gray form radiating readiness. Lysandra lounged against a pillar, but her dark eyes were alert, watching.

"The Council's army is at Ashford," James announced. "They're demanding my surrender. If I don't show up in three days, they'll destroy the city."

Kael's face went pale. "Three days?! That's not enough time! We need more allies! We need an army!"

"We have an army," Serena said, her voice cold. "My father's forces are ready. But they're not enough. The Council's army will be massive."

James stepped forward, his golden fire blazing. "I know. That's why we're not going to fight them head-on. We're going to use strategy. We're going to use the terrain. And we're going to use every advantage we have."

Rourke nodded slowly. "The resistance knows the city. They know the tunnels, the alleys, the hidden passages. We can use that."

Lysandra smirked. "And I can use the shadows to take out their leaders. Kill the commanders, and the army will fall into chaos."

James looked at his allies—his family. The golden fire in his chest blazed with warmth and determination.

"Then we leave at dawn," he said. "We march to Ashford. And we show the Council that the Last Dragonheart will never surrender."

The March to Ashford

The journey from Frosthold to Ashford took two days.

James led his army through the Aetherwilds, crossing frozen rivers and snow-covered mountains. Lord Valewood had committed a thousand Frostblood soldiers to the cause—warriors clad in ice armor, their weapons gleaming with deadly cold. They marched in formation, their footsteps echoing across the frozen landscape.

Behind them came the resistance fighters from Ashford, led by Mira. They had rallied in the days since James's departure, their numbers swelling with refugees and survivors who had lost everything to the Council's cruelty. They carried whatever weapons they could find, their faces set with grim determination.

Kael marched beside James, his green healing energy pulsing nervously around him. "Okay, okay, okay—we're going to battle. A real battle. Thousands of soldiers. Magic. Fire. Death. I'm terrified. Absolutely terrified. But I'm also excited? Is that weird? That's probably weird."

James smiled despite the tension. "It's not weird. It's called being human."

Kael laughed weakly. "I don't think I'm human. I think I'm a bundle of anxiety wrapped in a Soulweaver's body."

Serena appeared beside them, her ice-blue eyes scanning the horizon. "We're close. I can feel it. The Council's army is just beyond that ridge."

James's golden fire blazed. "Then we prepare. We set up our defenses. We wait for them to make the first move."

They crested the ridge, and James saw it.

The Council's army stretched across the valley like a sea of darkness. Thousands of soldiers in gleaming black armor, their weapons crackling with ancient power. At their head stood a figure wreathed in chains of starlight—the same Celestial Warden who had attacked them in the Aetherwilds.

But the Warden wasn't alone.

Beside it stood two other figures—a towering beast of shadow and flame, and a woman with eyes like burning coals. They radiated power that made James's golden fire flicker with unease.

"The Council sent their elite," Sage said, appearing beside him. "Three Grade Ten Celestials. They're not messing around."

James's jaw tightened. "Then we show them that we're not messing around either."

The Battle Begins

The Council's army charged.

Thousands of soldiers surged forward, their weapons blazing with dark energy. The ground shook beneath their feet, and the air filled with the roar of battle cries and the clash of steel.

James raised his hand, golden fire blazing around him. "FOR THE REALMS! FOR ASHFORD! FOR FREEDOM!"

His army answered with a thunderous roar.

They clashed in the center of the valley, a storm of ice and fire and shadow. Frostblood soldiers met the Council's forces with cold fury, their ice weapons shattering dark armor. The resistance fighters fought with desperate courage, their numbers small but their hearts fierce.

James carved a path through the enemy, his golden fire blazing like a second sun. He sent waves of flame crashing into the Council's soldiers, scattering them like leaves in a storm.

Kael was at his side, green healing energy pulsing around him. He darted through the chaos, healing the wounded and shielding his allies from harm. His Soulweaver abilities had grown stronger—he could heal multiple soldiers at once, his energy spreading like a wave of life-giving light.

Serena moved like a frost spirit, her ice blades cutting through the enemy with deadly precision. She created barriers of crystal that protected her allies, freezing the Council's soldiers in their tracks.

Rourke was a mountain of destruction, his massive fists crushing armor and bone. He stood at the center of the battle, unbreakable, unmovable, a fortress of flesh and stone.

Lysandra moved through the shadows, her dagger finding throats and hearts with lethal accuracy. She was a ghost, a nightmare, a whisper of death that struck without warning.

But the Celestial Wardens were coming.

The Wardens Strike

The three Celestials descended from the sky, their power shaking the very earth.

The Celestial Warden with the chains of starlight raised its hand, and a wave of pure energy slammed into James's army, sending them flying across the valley. Soldiers screamed as they were thrown into the air, their bodies crashing against the frozen ground.

"James Dragonheart!" the Warden called, its voice like thunder. "Your defiance ends here!"

James charged, golden fire blazing around him. "I've beaten you before! I'll do it again!"

The Warden laughed—cold, hollow, ancient. "You defeated a scout. I am something else entirely."

They clashed in the center of the battlefield, their powers colliding with explosive force. James drove his blazing fist into the Warden's chest, but the chains of starlight wrapped around him, constricting, suffocating.

The second Celestial—the beast of shadow and flame—lunged toward James's allies. Serena and Rourke met it head-on, ice and stone colliding with shadow and fire. The battle was brutal, each blow shaking the ground beneath their feet.

The third Celestial—the woman with burning coals for eyes—descended upon the resistance fighters. Her power was overwhelming, waves of dark energy consuming everything in their path. Soldiers screamed and died, their bodies dissolving into ash.

James struggled against the chains, the golden fire flickering weakly. He could feel his strength fading, the Warden's power pressing down on him like a mountain.

"I told you," the Warden hissed. "You cannot win."

But then James heard a voice—familiar, fierce, unbreakable.

"JAMES! HOLD ON!"

Kael appeared beside him, green healing energy blazing from his palms. He raised his hands, and the chains of starlight began to crack. The Soulweaver's power surged, ancient and unstoppable.

"You're not alone!" Kael shouted. "We're all with you!"

The golden fire in James's chest exploded. He broke free of the chains, his body blazing with pure light. He lunged toward the Warden, his fist driving through its chest like a spear.

The Warden screamed, its form dissolving into starlight fragments. James stood in its place, golden fire blazing around him like a beacon of hope.

He turned to the other Celestials, his eyes burning with fury.

"Who's next?"

The beast of shadow and flame lunged toward him—but Serena and Rourke were there, ice and stone trapping it in a cage of frozen rock. Lysandra's dagger found its throat, and it crumbled to ash.

The woman with burning coals for eyes raised her hand, dark energy gathering around her. But James was faster. He launched himself toward her, golden fire blazing, and struck her with a devastating blow that sent her crashing into the frozen ground.

She didn't get up.

The battlefield fell silent.

The Council's army was broken. Their leaders were dead. The survivors scattered into the shadows, fleeing from the Last Dragonheart's wrath.

James stood at the center of the carnage, his golden fire blazing, his allies gathered around him.

"We did it," Kael breathed. "We actually did it."

But James's expression remained grim.

"This was just the beginning," he said. "The Council will send more. They'll send everything they have."

He looked at his allies, his golden fire blazing with fierce determination.

"We need to prepare. We need to unite the other realms. We need to build an army strong enough to challenge the Celestial Council once and for all."

Serena stepped forward, her ice-blue eyes blazing. "Then we do it. Together."

Rourke nodded. "Together."

Lysandra smirked. "Together."

Kael grabbed James's hand, his mismatched eyes shining with fierce loyalty. "Together."

James smiled—a fierce, determined smile.

"Then let's get to work."
