Chapter 21 — The World Beyond the Abyss
The darkness swallowed them.
For several seconds, Kael couldn't hear anything.
Not Lyra.
Not Seraphine.
Not even Eclipse.
There was only silence.
Then—
**THUD.**
Kael landed on solid ground.
He immediately activated his Sovereign Eye.
A vast blue sky stretched above him.
Green mountains surrounded a massive valley.
A river flowed through the center of the land.
Birds flew between ancient trees.
It looked peaceful.
Too peaceful.
Kael turned around.
Lyra and Seraphine were standing behind him.
Eclipse had returned to its smaller form and was sitting on Kael's shoulder.
Seraphine looked around.
"This isn't the Abyss."
Kael nodded.
"No."
He looked at the sky.
"We crossed through it."
Lyra frowned.
"Where are we?"
The system appeared.

Kael frowned.
"Independent consciousness?"
The ground suddenly trembled.
A gentle female voice echoed through the valley.
**"Welcome home, Kael."**
Kael froze.
Seraphine's eyes widened.
Lyra drew her sword.
Eclipse growled.
Kael looked around.
"Who are you?"
The voice answered:
**"I am this world."**
The wind stopped.
The river reversed its flow.
The mountains began glowing with silver light.
Then a woman appeared before them.
She wore a simple white dress.
Long silver hair fell down her back.
Her eyes were the same color as Kael's.
She smiled.
"You're finally here."
Kael stared at her.
"Do I know you?"
The woman laughed softly.
"You created me."
Kael's expression changed.
"What?"
She stepped closer.
"Ten thousand years ago, before your final battle, you created this world."
"The world beyond the Abyss."
"The place where you planned to hide everything Heaven could never find."
Kael's mind raced.
His system immediately responded.

Kael looked at the woman.
"Then why don't I remember creating you?"
"Because you sealed the memory."
"Why?"
Her smile faded.
"Because you were afraid."
Kael rarely heard that word associated with his former self.
"Afraid of what?"
She looked toward the distant mountains.
"Your mother."
Silence.
Kael's eyes narrowed.
"What does my mother have to do with this?"
The woman pointed toward a mountain covered in silver trees.
"She's sleeping there."
Kael's heart stopped.
"She's alive?"
"Yes."
Seraphine stepped forward.
"How long?"
The woman looked at her.
"Ten thousand years."
Kael immediately began walking toward the mountain.
The woman stopped him.
"You cannot go yet."
Kael turned.
"Why?"
"Because your mother isn't sleeping."
His expression hardened.
"Then what is she doing?"
The woman answered quietly:
"She's holding something back."
### The Silver Mountain
They traveled toward the mountain.
As they approached, Kael noticed thousands of ancient statues along the road.
Every statue depicted the same person.
Himself.
Some showed him holding a sword.
Others showed him standing beside Eclipse.
But one statue was different.
It depicted Kael standing beside a woman.
His mother.
Kael stopped.
"She built these?"
The world-woman shook her head.
"You did."
Kael looked at the statue.
The system appeared.

> **[Participants: Kael Ardyn, Mother of the Sovereign.]**

Kael touched the statue.
The world disappeared.
### Ten Thousand Years Ago
A younger Kael stood beside his mother.
They were on an empty planet.
His mother held a small glowing seed.
"Are you sure?"
Kael nodded.
"This world will exist outside the Abyss."
"And Heaven won't find it?"
"Not unless I bring them here."
His mother smiled.
"Then what will you put inside?"
Kael looked at the seed.
"My memories."
His mother frowned.
"Why?"
"Because if Heaven defeats me, I need somewhere safe to start again."
His mother touched his face.
"You always prepare for your own death."
Kael smiled.
"Someone has to."
She shook her head.
"Promise me something."
"What?"
"If you return..."
She looked into his eyes.
"Don't become the person you were."
Kael frowned.
"Why?"
"Because power changes people."
The memory faded.
Kael opened his eyes.
Tears filled them.
He remembered his mother's voice.
Her warning.
Her fear.
And most importantly—
her love.
He looked toward the mountain.
"I'm going to her."
The world-woman nodded.
"Then you must be prepared."
"For what?"
She looked at Eclipse.
"The thing she's holding back."
Eclipse suddenly became tense.
**"Master..."**
Kael looked at him.
"What?"
Eclipse's silver eyes darkened.
**"I can smell it."**
"What?"
Eclipse looked toward the mountain.
**"The first Abyss."**
The entire valley went silent.
Kael's system flashed red.

> **[Origin: Unknown.]**

> **[Threat: Absolute.]**

> **[Warning: This entity predates the Abyssal Heart.]**
Kael slowly raised his sword.
"So the thing my mother has been holding back..."
The world-woman nodded.
"Is the original source of the Abyss."
Kael stared at the mountain.
Then a woman's voice echoed from its peak.
**"Kael..."**
His mother's voice.
This time—
real.
**"Come to me."**
Kael stepped forward.
Seraphine followed.
Lyra followed her.
Eclipse climbed onto Kael's shoulder.
Together, they began ascending the Silver Mountain.
None of them noticed the shadow watching from the forest below.
A figure wearing a black cloak.
The figure smiled.
"He's finally found his mother."
Then it whispered:
"But he still doesn't know..."
"...she was the one who created the Abyss."
