The sun was bright, the air fresh, and the autumn breeze brushed across the girl's cheek, stirring a strand of unruly black hair.
The already yellowed fallen leaves were plucked from the branches by the wind, floating slowly toward the ground like butterflies.
Autumn had arrived.
"It was still quite hot before, I didn't expect it to be so cold now." Leticia, wearing autumn clothes, tried her best to shrink her neck into her collar. She was a bit weak now and afraid of the cold.
"It's already November, and Central City is located in the northern part of the continent, so the seasons are quite distinct." Xue'er pulled a suitcase in each hand, following closely behind Leticia.
Candice looked around curiously with great interest. This was her first time coming to the human world, so curiosity was natural.
The distance from the spatial passage connecting the Demon Realm to the human world to Central City wasn't short, and with Leticia's current poor physical condition, the group of four had spent quite a bit of time on the road.
Leticia even suspected that poor Half-Elf girl had already died.
After all, a whole week had passed. That poison couldn't be waiting for them to arrive before taking effect, could it?
After entering Central City's area, Xue'er's phone hadn't stopped ringing. The maid had brought her own phone when leaving, but hadn't brought Leticia's—whether this was intentional or she really forgot was unknown.
"Mm, mm, okay." Xue'er hung up the phone.
Rather than hanging up, she just used magic to press the hang-up button on her wireless earpiece. The current Xue'er had no hands free to pull out her phone.
"Your Majesty, do you need to call Miss Bai?" After ending the last call, Xue'er also breathed a sigh of relief. Explaining what happened a month ago and why she had disappeared for a month was still somewhat troublesome.
Those who called were all her business partners. For the sake of their fragile trust relationships, Xue'er had to repeat her fabricated story over and over to different people.
Qila hadn't told Xue'er the truth about what happened, only telling Leticia what she knew.
After learning about this, Leticia nearly found a block of tofu to ram her head into.
Hammering unruly gods back—this sounded troublesome beyond belief.
Never mind anything else, just that God of Fog—Leticia had risked her little life to seal it.
And that wasn't even some god with strong combat power. If she encountered something like a war god, Leticia felt she'd be something that could be killed in a few moves.
"Call her for what? So she can come bother me?" Regarding Xue'er's suggestion, Leticia snorted, indicating that Bai Ling coming over would only make this patient unhappy.
"Yes." Since Leticia didn't want Bai Ling to come, Xue'er naturally had no objections.
Just like that, the four of them came to the downstairs of Leticia's home carrying things like they were moving.
"Little Ya?" Near the fitness equipment not far from the entrance, Leticia saw Little Ya, whom she hadn't seen in a long time.
Bai Ya was supporting a black-haired girl about her age. After hearing Leticia's voice, her eyes lit up and she raised her head to shout at Leticia: "Sister Qianqian, you're back!"
"And Little Qi, where on earth have you all been these days?"
"Ah, recovering from injuries." Leticia replied, then turned her head and whispered a few words in Xue'er's ear, having the maid and Candice go upstairs first.
Xue'er nodded and pulled the curious Candice upstairs.
"But Sister Qianqian doesn't look injured at all." Bai Ya said with pouted lips. "Oh right, this is my new friend. She says her name is Qingyu."
"Lin Qingyu." The girl being supported by Bai Ya added quietly.
"She's quite a cute little girl." Leticia's gaze swept over Lin Qingyu, sensing a faint feeling of discord.
This Lin Qingyu should be the poisoned girl mentioned in Bai Ling's letter. Leticia had originally guessed she was a Half-Elf, but after meeting face to face, Leticia couldn't sense any elven aura from the girl.
Not only could she not sense any elven aura, this girl continuously emanated an extremely pure human aura, as if she were a pure-blooded human.
But those verdant eyes couldn't be faked. How could humans possibly have such eyes? Only Elves—and high Elves at that—would have such perpetually verdant pupils.
"Green eyes should definitely mean Half-Elf, but why can't I smell the elven scent?" Leticia circled around the girl several times, finding she really couldn't smell any elven scent, so she spoke with confusion.
Lin Qingyu's expression stiffened, and only after a long while did she stammer: "I'm not a Half-Elf, I'm human."
"What is Sister Qianqian talking about?" Bai Ya helped defend her. "Qingyu definitely isn't a Half-Elf. Look at her ears—they're round, not pointed."
As she spoke, Bai Ya lifted the hair by Lin Qingyu's ear, revealing that small, round ear.
Half-Elves, being mixed blood of Elves and humans, generally inherited the elven characteristic of long, pointed ears.
"Perhaps I'm just ignorant then." Leticia's gaze swept past Lin Qingyu's ear and landed on the girl's neck. "That necklace is very pretty."
"This is a birthday gift from my mother." Lin Qingyu hastily covered the necklace, as if afraid Leticia would come snatch it.
Strange, very strange.
Leticia caught a whiff of conspiracy. This Lin Qingyu was acting rather oddly.
"Isn't Sister Qianqian going up to see my sister?" Bai Ya noticed the atmosphere wasn't quite right and quickly tried to smooth things over.
Leticia shook her head. "No need, she's already coming down."
Bai Ling had appeared at the main entrance at some unknown point, arms crossed, her face still expressionless as before.
Hearing Leticia's words, she lowered her arms and walked over. "Your complexion is still a bit poor."
"Always cooped up at home, how could my complexion be good?" Leticia gave Bai Ling a smile fake enough to die for. "No choice—when a certain Miss Bai has something to ask of me, here I am dragging my sick body over in a hurry."
"Mm, thank you."
"Hah? Just one light 'thank you'? I'm not that easy to brush off." Leticia said with a tsundere expression.
"I've already helped you max out everything in that game of yours." A faint smile appeared on Bai Ling's face, and Leticia seemed to see a big character for 'wealthy' within it.
This Miss Bai was really... rich.
